Hopes Peak Academy...
It was the school that everyone wanted to go to. If you wanted to be someone when you graduated and wanted to change the world than you had Hopes Peak Academy on the top of your list. Pretty much everything in Japan revolved around Hopes Peak Academy and it graduates were out there revolutionizing industries day by day and creating new forms of entertainment with every passing minute. It had gained so much prestige that people from across the world would try their hand at getting into Hopes Peak Academy; it was just that amazing!
Unfortunately, very few ever get the chance to actually attend Hopes Peak Academy. With the exception of the Reserve Course, the school hand picked who attended the Academy based off of sheer talent alone, and if you weren't the best as what you did, you had no chance of getting in. If you were chosen, however; you would be formally be granted the title of Ultimate, and from there success would just be a stone's throw away for you, and that's exactly what was happening with Hakabe Shotetsu, otherwise known as the Ultimate Party Planner.
Hakabe was bouncing in his seat as the taxi rounded the final corner before pulling up to the walkway in front of the school. He quickly paid the cab driver before swiftly exiting the vehicle and beginning his walk down towards the school. He still couldn't believe he had made it here; he liked to imagine that he was good at partly planning, but never in his wildest dreams did he imagine he would be labeled as the Ultimate Party Planner and accepted in Hopes Peak Academy. Nevertheless, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to truly make something out of himself and his greatest chance to show the world how influential party planning was to having the best time possible.
Hakabe couldn't help but fidget with his black school tie and smile as he got closer to the building. It was a truly magnificent piece of architecture and it absolutely gave off an elite feeling..? Hakabe wasn't sure that was the right word to use to describe the feeling, but he couldn't really think of any other word as his mind was still racing at a mile a minute with excitement. Soon enough he found himself at the front door of the institution, and for the first time, Hakabe's mind and body went quiet.
"This is real. This is actually happening. Once I step through these doors, I'll be a student at Hopes Peak!" Hakabe thought to himself as he pressed his hands against the doors of the school. He would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous, as his sweaty hands and forehead could attest to that, but he was still far beyond excited.
With a deep breath, he pushed the doors open and took his first steps inside the academy.
"Oh man, this is nuts. Seriously this is insane. I'm actually here! Oh... Oh boy, I gotta relax and take a breath. I'm getting lightheaded from this all this freaking... freaking... out..?" Hakabe excitedly thought to himself before he felt his vision starting to fail him. Oh man, was he seriously gonna pass out from excitement on his first day here? Talk about being lame...
Unfortunately, there was no fighting the feeling at this point. Hakabe began rocking on his feet and felt himself falling backwards, his vision finally failed him and went black. He was probably gonna get roasted by his classmates for this, and he'd have to rebuild his reputation from the ground up. Oh well, he had the rest of his school life to do that ahead of him to do that as well as make a whole bunch of friends along the way!
"Mmm... No I'm full Mom... Okay, maybe one more slice..." Hakabe muttered to himself as he tossed about in a bed. Hakabe eventually turned hard enough that he rolled of the bed completely and landed flat on his back with a loud THUD. He shot up quickly and with a few frantic breaths, he looked at the room around him. Was this the place he had...
"Wait... What DID happen exactly?" Hakabe pondered to himself as he slowly stood up off the ground and rubbed the sore spot on his back. Hakabe didn't remember ever coming to a room like this and falling asleep, but then again, he doesn't remember any of the events that may or may not have led up to this situation. Was he still asleep? Was this some wicked stress mixed with excitement induced dream?
Hakabe quickly pinched his right cheek hard and winced quickly. Huh, it didn't look like he was asleep. If that's the case, how exactly did he end up in this room? Speaking if the room he found himself in, it wasn't exactly what he'd call a full fledged room. Sure it had a bed built into the wall, but asides from that, all he had in the room was a desk across from his bed, what he believed to be a wardrobe, a full length mirror sitting on the wall right next to the suspected wardrobe, and a door that led to a small corner of the room. Intrigued by the closed off corner, he walked to the door and with a quick twist of the handle, he swung it open to reveal a toilet with a little table beside it. There was a roll of toilet paper on the table alongside various toiletries which were kept on a lower section of the table. For Hakabe it was a rather small bathroom, but given the size of the room he was in, he wasn't surprised. He stepped out, closed the door, and decided to investigate what he suspected to be the wardrobe.
A few steps to the left found him in front of the the piece of furniture, and opening the doors confirmed that it was indeed a wardrobe, but it was filled already filled with clothes that Hakabe had never seen before, and even stranger was that there were multiple sets of the same outfit. Someone must really likes blazers... Hakabe closed the wardrobe and began making his way past the mirror and towards the desk in his room, but before he could make it to the desk, he froze and backtracked to the mirror. He couldn't believe what he saw in that mirror...
"I-Is this the same blazer..?" Hakabe stuttered in disbelief as he pulled on the sleeves and the ends of the blazer. When did he have something like this..? Wait, when did he ever put this on?! Hakabe scrunched his eyes clothes and tried to remember real hard about what had led up to this situation, but no matter how hard he tried, the only thing he got was a mild headache. Defeated by his lack of memories he made his way back to the wardrobe to confirm that these clothes were somehow his.
Hakabe pulled the wardrobe doors open once again and began to compare: Same navy blazer, check. He looked down to get a look at his pants and footwear and quickly looked back to the wardrobe. He once again spotted the same beige jeans he was wearing currently, and might he add, did they really have to be slim jeans? After taking a quick pause to roll his eyes, he spotted the same pair of black and white converse he was wearing alongside the same standard pair of white socks. Seeing as how these sets of clothes seemed to be identical, he trusted that he had the same pair of undies as well. With that done, there was only one thing left to investigate.
Hakabe closed the wardrobe once more and made his way to the desk across from his bed. It wasn't anything fancy; flat top, four drawers, but what did catch his attentions was the arrangement of binders on the far left corner of his desk. Great, another thing to boggle his mind over for the next hour or so. Grabbing and opening one of the binders, however; revealed a familiar sight: Party plans. There was a count of equipment alongside what would need to be purchased, a rough sketch of a floor plan, a menu, a drink list, and a guest list. Although Hakabe never remembered writing these plans, they were surely detailed and organized the way he preferred. It seems everything around here just deepens the mystery around him.
After putting the binder away, he began to inspect the drawers and they seemed to contain pretty basic equipment ranging from pens, pencils, erasers and both lined and blank paper. One drawer did however, contain what appeared to be some kind of smart device. It couldn't have been a phone since it didn't have anything you could speak into, but it did appear to have a touch screen.
"Great, something else I don't remember owning..." Hakabe blandly stated to himself as he touched the screen, causing the device to buzz to life.
As the device booted up, the Hopes Peak insignia flashed on screen for a moment before the sentence "Welcome Hakabe Shotetsu!" scrolled onto the screen. Funnily enough, that was the least surprising thing he had seen so far, for if this was a device assigned by Hopes Peak staff, it wasn't shocking that they knew his name and programed the device to have its owner's name on it for identification purposes, but once the main screen booted up, he was met with some unfamiliar programs. He started off by pressing the app labeled "Profiles" and from there he found 18 blanked out profiles, but one had a picture of what appeared to be a pixilated version of him in his new attire. Clicking on his profile brought up the following screen
Hakabe Shotetsu
Ultimate Party Planner
Age: 16
Height: 5'7
Weight: 130 lbs
Blood Type: A-
Likes: Soft Drinks, Musicals, Daisies
Dislikes: Tea, Cats, Planes
Okay, now that was pretty freaky. Sure, knowing his age, height, and weight was simple enough, his blood type was a bit weird but he'll let it slide, but the fact they knew his likes and dislikes was a little alarming. Just how much did they know about him, and how the heck did they even get ahold of that kind of information. Maybe it had to do with the fact he couldn't remember anything before he woke up in what he is now guessing to be his room. After closing his profile and exiting the "Profiles" app, he clicked the "Map" app. The program opened, and wouldn't you know it, a map popped up. Although the map did appear incomplete since the only thing that showed up was the interior of his room. Or maybe it was because he was in his room that it seemed so limited.
"I guess this means it's time to see what's out there." Hakabe concluded as he walks towards the last remaining door in his room, which he figured out led out somewhere. He closed the "Map" app on the device and slid it into his pocket before making his way to the door and unlocking it.
He placed his hand over the handle, but before he could pull the door open an uneasy feeling overcame him. Just what exactly would he find on the other side of this door? Who would he find on the other side of this door? Hakabe couldn't handle anymore unanswered questions, it was time for him to start finding some answers. With a deep breath, he pulled the door open and began his journey into unknown territory.
Hey there everyone! Thanks for taking the time to check out my first ever Danganronpa fanfic. To be honest it's something I've wanted to try for a while, but I've always hesitated because of all the other amazing stories out there. Well, I figured it was about time to put on my big boy pants and just send it.
Now, onto what everyone is waiting for, the guidelines for OC submission. Below you will find the form you must fill out for a submission along with the guidelines. The same instructions can be found on my profile.
Danganronpa: Next Stop, Despair! SYOC OPEN
1. I am only accepting OC's through PM's. It keeps the story, motives, and overall mystery of the characters classified, and what good would a Danganronpa fanfic be if everyone knew everything about everyone from the get go? Plus it just lets me keep things organized in a way I prefer.
2. To submit a character, use the following title/subject line when PM'ing me your character: (Character Name), (Ultimate Talent). Danganronpa: Next Stop, Despair OC Submission.
3. The maximum amount of OC's one person can submit is 3 as to give everyone a fair chance to have their OC featured. However, please take the time to detail your character(s) and make them stand out. The more interesting the character, the better the chance for them to be accepted.
4. Do not submit characters that are already submitted in other stories. The exceptions to this rule are as follows: a) The story has been inactive for a year/formally cancelled. b) The character was not accepted into that story.
5. The default will be Japanese, but foreign characters are not discouraged and will be accepted so long as the reasoning behind them is solid.
6. Take your time making/submitting your characters! This story is not first come first serve. Show me how imaginative you can be!
7. Once your character has been accepted, their fate is in my hands, but you probably know that already as it's the norm with SYOC Danganronpa fanfics.
8. The deadline for submissions is February 21st, but this deadline is subject to change.
9. I will accept Ultimate Lucky Student and Ultimate Detective, but please make them unique and not a close copy of Kirigiri, Naegi, Shuichi, etc.
Once a character is submitted I will notify you of their acceptance status as soon as I am able to finish reviewing the character. Do not be disheartened if your character does not make it. There are a variety of reason which may cause a character to be rejected and none of them are personal.
(Submissions)
I will be accepting 8 Males and 9 Females
