Prologue

Finally finishing my shift at work, I started walking home, putting my headphones in to listen to music. I Stepped out to cross the street, not noticing the truck until too late, felt immense pain and then nothingness.

Waking up with a start, I found that I was no longer on the street but inside a very old-fashioned, Japanese-style room. Looking at my body I looked significantly younger than I remember being, confused I decided to investigate my situation. Opening the front door of the one-room shack; I was met with a lush green forest, Illuminated by the full moon in the sky. Now beginning to panic a little, I went back inside and sat on the futon I woke up in. And started to examine my body more thoroughly, just as I was about to go look for some water to see my reflection, I was hit with a sudden headache. I tried to ignore it but the pain kept increasing and soon I struggled to move. My vision started blurring then I passed out.

I was plagued by nightmares of me dying over and over again, unable to wake up. After what felt like days but was probably only a few hours, I was finally able to wake up, covered in sweat and still lying in the middle of the floor. I realized that the nightmare was real and that I had died. This was not the only thing that had changed. I now have this body's memories. My name is Hideki Yukihari, I am 9 and an orphan. But by far the biggest revelation is that I am in the world of Naruto.

1 week later

It has been a week since my awakening in the world of Naruto. Thanks to this body's memories I've been able to survive in the forest, eating the wildlife and the edible plants I find. I've decided to leave my tiny shack to go to Uramoto, a village in the land of grass. My body's memories have been there many times to buy food and other necessities. I also want to make some money, selling firewood.

Because it takes about an hour to make it to the village, I left early the next morning. Carrying the logs I cut up in a backpack, I started my journey.

It took a bit longer than I wanted because the logs added weight but I finally made it. Uramoto was mainly made of wood, the exceptions being some larger houses and the stone wall surrounding it. Waking through the main gate I headed straight to the market to sell my merchandise and look at what people were selling. The logs were bought fast and I made around 1000 Ryō. Walking around the marketplace, a vendor selling straw coolie hats and fans caught my attention. I was getting hotter lately and I wouldn't mind having a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes.

Walking to the stand I asked "Sir, how much for a hat"

"100 Ryō," he replied without looking up.

Handing over the money and taking a hat. I thanked the man before walking away. Nothing else in the market caught my interest, so I left to explore the rest of the village. Since I'm in the world of Naruto with ninjas and tailed beasts, I want to get some training. I walked up and down the village streets looking at the signs on the buildings. Ten minutes later I found a dojo. It was one of the larger buildings made of stone and wood. looking like a mansion compared to my tiny shack. Waking inside I was greeted by children of all ages swinging a sword in unification, yelling every time it was brought down. Standing over to the side was a middle-aged man with a graying brown beard and a noticeable scar through his left eye.

Heading over I asked about the cost of joining, it was 1000 Ryō a week. Paying, I was told I could start tomorrow.

AN: I would appreciate some constructive criticism because I am aware that my writing sucks. Next chapter there will be a large time skip, I would also like your opinion on whether to have this based during the second or third shinobi war.
