Here we are at Chapter 1 and the beginning of a new story. This one takes place after Volume 2, but there is no Cinder, no Salem, and Torchwick is still locked up in jail. Rated M for future chapters. However, it does include two familiar OCs if you've been readying one of my other stories, though their backgrounds were changed for this story. Anyway, I do not own RWBY. They belong to Roosterteeth. I only own my OCs. Here's Chapter one of RWBY: Of Fate and Fire. Enjoy.
Chapter 1: A Chance Meeting
Yang Xiao long drives through the city streets of Vale on her beloved Bumblebee. Things in the city seem to have quieted down for the most part, considering what happened not too long ago. Roman Torchwick tried to launch an attack on Vale by luring Grimm in from the tunnels connecting to Mountain Glenn, and almost succeeded, but was stopped by Team RWBY and their friends. Roman is now locked up in jail on one of Ironwood's ships, and the damage has been repaired. Things have calmed down, but there is still a slight tension in the air. People are a little worried about another possible attack before the Vytal Festival. Hopefully, that won't happen, especially since Roman is no longer a problem. However, Yang has other matters to attend to at the moment. Though it was only for a brief moment, while on the train, Yang could have sworn she saw... her. She knew she lost to Neopolitan. Hell, Neo wiped the floor with her. As much as it pained her to admit it. However, when she woke up, Neo was gone, and... she ws there. But as soon as Yang glimpsed her, she vanished into a red portal and was gone. Yang knows it was her mother. She finally got a lead, but she didn't have the chance to make use of it.
However, Yang is nothing if not determined. So, here she is, riding through Vale late at night and heading to one of her favorite places for info and fun. She rides around the corner before skidding to a stop and parking her ride in front of the entrance of Junior's nightclub. Luckily, the place is still in one piece, even after the Grimm attack. Striding her way to the entrance, she sees two goons standing guard outside. Of course, given her reputation here, the guards quickly get scared and are about to flip.
"Don't even think about closing those doors on me. You want a second helping of what happened last time guys tried that. Let. Me. In," Yang demands.
Not wanting to go the hospital again, the two goons open up the doors for her and she walks right on in. Inside the club, things seem to be going good for Junior. Nice to see Yang didn't wreck the place so bad that they couldn't rebuild it. Lights are on, music is blasting, and people are either on the dancing floor, moving to the beat, or at the bar or seats, having a drink or making conversation with a potential partner to take home for the night. Yang loves a good tune, but tonight, she's here on business. Yang walks right up to the bar and takes a seat.
"Strawberry Sunrise. No ice. And don't forget the little umbrella," Yang asks the bartender.
The bartender of course moves to fix up her drink, if for no other reason than to keep his teeth.
"Please tell me you're not here to wreck the place again?" She looks over her shoulder to see Junior, flanked by Melanie and Miltia Malachite. "Well?"
"I'm not here to fight this time Junior, as long as you don't make me. I'm just her for some information, and you STILL owe me a drink. Let me get all of that, and you get to keep your club in one piece," Yang says as the bartender comes back with her drink. She takes a little sip. "Not bad. Wouldn't want me to inform the authorities about you serving alcohol to minors,"
Junior rolls his eyes and goes to walk behind the bar.
"You better not try anything, blondie," Melanie crosses her arms.
Yang smirks, "Well, I could always try something new with the two of you. We'd just need a private room and a few more drinks, and we'd be all good. In more ways than one," Yang purrs.
Groaning at her stupid joke, Melanie walks away with her sister right next to her. Yang chuckles as they leave before turning back to Junior who is now behind the bar, cleaning a glass.
"So, what information do you want this time?" Junior asks.
"Same as before. The woman I'm looking for, I saw her on the train that ended up crashing through the underground into the center of Vale. I wanted to know if you heard or saw anything. And I want to know now," Yang says.
Junior sighs, "Since you haven't wrecked the place yet, I'll tell you what I know. Unfortunately, what I know is zero. No one's seen or heard about this woman that you're looking for. And just in case you came back and decided to break things again, I did do some digging, but came up empty. Whoever you're looking for is pretty good at masking their whereabouts,"
Yang stares at her glass, "It looked like she walked through some kind of portal if my memory is right. If that's the case, it would be easy for her to move around and avoid being seen. Damn! Just when I thought I had a lead," she looks back at Junior. "Fine. Thanks anyway," she finishes her drink. "Maybe one more for the road," she puts some lien down on the table.
Junior glares at her, "As long as you don't get drunk and get into an accident, and then I become liable. If anyone asks, you didn't get it from me," Junior goes to make another sunrise.
Yang watches him leave before listening to the beat of the music, the rhythm helping her stay relaxed. She looks around and eventually spies another female guest further down the bar on her right. The girl is a young woman, maybe a year younger than her. She has long, black hair reaching her lower waist, with some strand being held in white ribbons and resting over her shoulders. She has golden eyes, and a slightly pale complexion. She is wearing a white dress/shirt hybrid of sorts, with butterfly sleeves, and wrapping around her chest, showing a black strapless shirt underneath. The dress shirt exposes her hips, and has some fabric at the front that goes over a short white skirt that reaches her thighs. Around the skirt is a long piece of white cloth that separates into two sections and reaches down to her lower calves. She also has on thigh-high high-heeled shoes that are white and end diagonally at her thighs. On her sleeves are golden Ryuu dragon designs looping around the sleeves. On the lower section of her shirt is an emblem of a Ryuu dragon wrapping its body around a playing card that has an "A" at two corners and an orange flame under them and in the center of the card. The rest of her clothing shows gold edging. On her hips is a gold belt, with two black pouches hooked on the sides, containing what appears to be two decks of cards of sorts. All-in-all, she looks beautiful.
Yang quickly looks away before the girl notices her staring, and sees Junior come back with another sunrise. After giving Yang her drink, Junior walks over to speak with the new girl.
"So, have you seen him anywhere in town?" Yang hears her ask.
She has a nice voice too, but wait, "Wait, is she looking for someone too?" Yang wonders.
"What is it with you girls and searching for people you lost? I wonder if I should make a side business on this stuff. So, what, you lost some ex-boyfriend there, sweetheart?" Junior jokes.
The girl gives him a look that says otherwise, "He's not my boyfriend, but he is someone I need to find. Well, have you seen or heard anything or what? I gave you a description, and I even paid you to find some information as well. Or is the only thing you're good at being making drinks?"
"Fine, fine, geez. No, I haven't heard anything either, and I've checked. I'm not a complete criminal. You did pay me after all. I asked around, had people I know keep an eye out, but no one's seen or heard anything. In case you hadn't noticed, we just had a Grimm attack here, so people are still a little on edge and not as willing to talk as they used to. Even more so with the Atlas military flying over their heads," Junior replies.
The girl sighs, "Nothing, huh. That's some lien I'm not getting back," she mutters.
"I told you before, no refunds," Junior retorts.
The girl sighs again, "Guess I'll just have to keep looking. Might as well have a drink while I'm here," the girl pulls out some lien and places it on the table. "Water, please," she asks, but Junior only raises an eyebrow. "What, you got a problem with an underage girl asking for water instead of illegally drinking something with alcohol in it?"
"N-No, I'm just not used to it is all. If only 'some' people had your level of sense, then I wouldn't have so many problems to deal with at once. Sure thing," Junior takes lien and hands the girl a glass of water before walking away to handle other business.
Her curiosity peeking a bit, Yang considers going to talk to the mystery girl before someone else beats her to the punch. A guy, probably in his twenties, strides on over and sits next to the girl. The very air about him practically screams 'creep'.
"Hey there, sweetheart. What's a pretty girl like you doing here all by yourself? Were you hoping to meet someone for a little dancing?" the guy asks almost smugly.
The girl barely pays him any mind, "I'm here for my own business. I'm good, so you can leave," and gives him the cold shoulder.
"Oh come on, this isn't the place for business. It's the place where people meet, drink, dance, and have fun together. That could include you and me," the guy won't take the hint.
"I'm not interested, thank you very much," the girl looks away, not seeing the guy try to spike her drink with something, though Yang notices and keeps her eyes on them.
"Oh, I see. You're cautious around strangers. I understand. But, what if I wasn't a stranger anymore. How about we take it a little slow and get to know each other first before moving on?" the guy offers.
"I think I'd rather get flattened by a Boarbatusk. I'm out of here," the girl leaves without sipping her drink, much to the guy's ire.
Yang keeps her head down, but watches as the girl leaves the club, and the guy follows after her. Not willing to leave this alone, Yang quickly downs her drink, leaves some lien behind, and goes on after them. Yang walks out and notices the guy following the girl into an alleyway on her left. Tailing them, but keeping her distance for the time being, Yang follows and watches as the girl stops halfway down the alley, prompting the guy to stop behind her.
"Not too bright, are you," the girl glances behind her.
The guy chuckles, "Heh-heh-heh, maybe, but we're smarter than you," and just then, three more goons pop out from various hiding places and surround her. "This could've been a lot less painful for you if you finished that drink with the drug in it. You wouldn't feel as much pain. You might've even felt good from it,"
"I didn't finish my drink because you slipped something into it, you moron," the girl replies nonchalant.
"Well, then I guess we're doing this the hard way. Get her boys, but be sure not to damage the merchandise too badly," the guy lets his buddies off their leashes.
They're closing in, and Yang is about to intervene, but then the girl pulls out a few cards from the deck on her left hip, each card having a weird red symbol in the center and gold edging. She throws the cards at the men's feet and they explode like grenades, knocking all the guys onto the ground or into the wall, knocking them all out.
"You perverts are disgusting. That just makes this easier," the girl notes. However, a small dart flies out and hits her on the neck. The girl pulls it out, but starts feeling a little wobbly and loses her balance a bit. "What... is this?" she starts feeling groggy.
A fifth guy pops out from a dumpster with a small bamboo flute in his hands, "Don't worry, it's not poison or anything like that. Just something that will make you lose your strength, but keep you conscious and your senses going. Much more fun to break a cute girl in when they're awake, you know," the new guy looks at his downed buddies. "You idiots can't do anything right. If you want something done right, best to do it yourself. More for me then," the guy smirks as he gets closer to her.
The girl tries to pull out another card, but whatever was in that dart is making her lose her strength, and she falls onto her knees, doing her best just to stay awake.
"Now, now, you'll feel really good from this. I promise you that," the guy reaches out to her.
"Okay, that's enough of that crap!" he hears and looks behind just in time to see Yang's fist connect with his face, smashing him back into the dumpster with the lid closing on him. "Hey, are you okay?" she goes and kneels in front of the girl.
"I'm... okay, but... losing... consciousness," the girl gets more unsteady and her eyelids start to feel heavy.
"Hang on, I'll take you to the local hospital," Yang goes to help her, but the girl stops her.
"No... It's not... poison. Take me... to the Gold-Inn... I have a... room there," the girl says.
"Okay, I know that place. I'll call the police on these guys and take you over there. Um, sorry about this, but bear with it," Yang picks the girl up in a princess carry and carries her to her motorcycle. Yang makes a quick call to the police, informing them about the sleeping thugs in the alley, and then positions the girl in front of her on the bike to keep her between her arms. "Try and hang on if you can. At least stay awake for a while longer," and then Yang floors it into high gear.
Yang flies through the late-night streets of Vale, making sure her passenger doesn't fall off. She can see the girl trying to stay awake, but is having trouble doing so. If she were a normal girl, she'd probably be out by now, but judging by what Yang saw earlier, she was anything but a normal girl. After a couple more minutes of weaving through traffic, and almost getting into an accident or two (but, no need to tell the girl that and make her worry), Yang finally found her location, the Gold-Inn. A nice hotel that's got a remarkably good balance between pricing and services. Yang parks her motorcycle in the parking lot.
"What's your room?" Yang asks as she picks the girl up in a princess carry again.
"It's... 416," the girl replies sleepily.
Yang walks through the front door. Luckily, it's late so there aren't really anyone in the reception area right now except for an employee behind the desk, who happens to see them and gets concerned.
The employee is about to say something, but Yang gets right in his face, "I'm taking her to her room so she can rest. So, make sure no one knows about this, understand? If anyone comes around and causes us problems, then you'll have a problem with me. Got it?" Yang's red eyes show her anger.
The receptionist hastily nods his head in a cold sweat and Yang moves on to the elevator. Once it hits the fourth floor, Yang strides through the hallway until she comes across the girl's room. Using her room key to get inside, Yang carries the girl inside and closes the door. The room had a queen-sized bed, a pair of nightstands, a love seat, a desk, a TV stand with a TV on top, a nice restroom, and a closet space. It was quaint. Yang gently lays the girl down on the bed.
"Hey, you feeling okay?" Yang kneels next to the bed.
"I'm... okay. I just... have to-," the girl tries to get up, but Yang places a hand on her forehead to stop her.
"Hey, don't worry about it. Just get some rest. I'll keep an eye out, so you can relax. Fighting against the drug to stay awake for so long must've taken its toll on you. Sleep now, okay," Yang says.
Her words calm the girl's worries, and she finally relents and falls asleep. She must've been more exhausted than previously thought. Yang decides to help her out a bit and takes off her shoes and her belt with the two decks, and then manages to sneak the covers on her. After that, Yang checks her scroll to see she missed the last available flight back to Beacon for the night. She'll have to wait tomorrow to head back. Knowing her sister will freak out, Yang sends her a quick text saying that she missed her flight, but she found a place to stay for the night and will be back tomorrow. With that taken care of, Yang moves the love seat around so it faces the sleeping girl. Sitting down, Yang notices how peaceful she looks when she's sleeping.
"She really is pretty," Yang mutters before she decides to get some sleep too when she reclines the seat back.
…
The next morning, morning rays of light creep through the curtains, hitting the sleeping girl in the face. She scrunches her face before opening her eyes. She still feels a little dizzy, but she can fairly recall what happened last night.
"I got careless. If he saw me like this, he'd put me through the wringer again," the girl mutters.
Slowly sitting up, she notices that she is in her room, in her bed. Checking to make sure nothing bad happened, she finds that only her shoes and her belt were taken off. Breathing a sigh of relief, she looks over and notices Yang sleeping, or snoring, in the love seat. The girl also remembers her coming to her aid. It looks like she's been there all night.
"Well, at least she's pretty," the girl finds herself staring at her.
Just then, Yang stops snoring and opens her eyes. She yawns and stretches her limbs. Once the sleepiness leaves her body, Yang finally notices the girl awake and instantly is full of energy.
"Oh, good, you're awake!" Yang jumps up and walks over to the bed. "Feeling any better?"
"Um, yes, I'm feeling much better. Maybe still a little groggy, but that will fade soon enough. Thank you for helping me earlier," the girl bows her head to her.
Yang waves it off, "Hey, it's no big deal. I'm just glad you're okay. Those punks from last night were total scumbags. They got what they deserved. I already called the police on them, so they won't be a problem anymore,"
"That's good. Though, you didn't really need to help me," the girl replies.
"So what? It's not like a need a reason to help someone," Yang says.
"Still, I owe you for your help, Miss... um..." the girl never got her name.
"Oh, I guess we never did introduce ourselves. I'm Yang. Yang Xiao Long. You can just call me Yang," Yang extends her hand.
The girl smiles and curtly takes her hand, "It's nice to meet you, Yang. My name is Voshkie'ahk Ryukado,"
And that's the chapter. That's right, people; it's the very same Voshkie'ahk Ryukado from RWBY: The Storm of KEPL. I had an idea to make another story with her in it, centered around her and Yang this time for a long time, and now it's here. Just so you understand, there is no Yukari or Team KEPL in this one. Yang looks for her mother, but ends up meeting a new friend instead. Just what kind of adventures will Yang end up in as she gets to know Voshkie'ahk even more? Until then, please Read and Review.
