"Well well well, if it isn't You-Know-Who's Whore," said Pansy as she walked in front of me.

"You know, it's not much of an insult if you can't even say his name," I said, turning a page in the book I was skimming.

I glanced up at Pansy over the bookshelf and said, "What do you want Pansy?"

She crossed her arms and chided, "I want to know why you helped Draco from going to Azkaban."

"I've publicly answered that question a dozen times. Read a newspaper," I said, putting the book back on the shelf.

"I've read the paper. Merlin knows I can't go anywhere without hearing about the Great Hari Potter," Pansy said rolling her eyes. "I just want to know why Draco gets to walk free while my father has to spend the rest of his life in prison! You need to go to the Ministery and tell them to let my father go."

"I will be doing no such thing," I said while skimming the titles of the books on the next shelf.

"Why not?" Pansy whined.

I turned to her and said, "Draco helped me in the fight against Voldemort. Your father's an asshole."

"Draco didn't help you! He tried to kill Dumbledore!"

"Careful what you say, Pansy. I thought Draco was your friend," I laughed bitterly.

"He is! I just don't understand why you would help him when my father didn't do anything and has to go to prison!" she cried.

"Like I said. I've explained myself many times on my decision to help Draco. I'm not going to repeat myself."

"But my father didn't have a choice!"

"No. Draco didn't have a choice. Your father is living out the consequences of his actions."

"Some savior you are," Pansy sniffed.

"I thought I was just Voldemort's whore," I said.

Pansy flinched at the name.

"You know he's dead, right?" I said in a bored tone. "You saw it happen. It was just a few hours after you tried to turn me over to him, remember?"

Pansy's eyes narrowed and she clinched her fists by her side. "You have no respect for the Dark Lord! He could have killed all of us."

"He could have. But I, along with many others who chose to do the right thing, decided to try and stop him from doing that. I know doing the right thing may not be something you're familiar with, but it's when you choose to help people even when it's dangerous or difficult."

"My father did what he did to protect our family."

"No your father did what he did because he's a coward."

"And the Malfoy's aren't?"

"I'm going to explain this the best way I can. Draco's parents have been loyal Death Eaters since the beginning of the first War. They've done Voldemort's bidding for years and even turned their home over to Voldemort when he wanted it. Draco did not choose his family. Voldemort knew Lucius is a coward and was only loyal out of fear, so he used his son to threaten him. If Draco did not do what he was told, not only would Voldemort kill him but Voldemort would kill his whole family. Your father, much like the Malfoys, is a coward but in a different way. Your parents stayed neutral throughout the first War, and into the second, up until Voldemort took over the Ministry completely. Then, they became Death Eaters. Because it was easier than standing up and fighting against him. And when it came down to the moment that mattered most, Mr. Malfoy's son helped me get away from Voldemort when Mr. Parkinson's daughter tried to turn me over to him. So no. I will not be helping your father get out of Azkaban because that is where he deserves to be and you're lucky you're not spending the rest of your miserable life in a cell next to him."

"Fuck you!" Pansy yelled and stormed out of the store, face red.
