A/N The idea for this story was given to me by Celrock. I've expanded it a bit.
Angelica grumbled as she stood on the porch with Drew as they waited for someone to answer the door. She hated to admit it, but she would rather be at Tommy and Dil's house. She wasn't looking forward to the day ahead at all.
Soon after they rang the door bell Mi Sun answered and invoted Angelica inside. Drew left to get some work done leaving Angelica to her day of punishment.
Angelica sat down on the couch while Mi Sun went into the kitchen to get Ji Yeon out of her high chair. She pushed Cleo away as she came up to her.
"So what do we do first?'' Angelica asked when Mi Sun came back into the room with Ji Yeon her hip.
"We need to walk Cleo.'' Mi Sun told her.
It seemed as though Cleo understood what was about to happen because she ran back and forth across the room exceiedly. She jumped up on Angelica almost knocking her down.
Angelica groaned and pushed Cleo away. She was greatful when Mi Sun put the leash on Cleo and they made their way out the door.
Angelica was surprised when Mi Sun handed her the leash.
"You can walk Cleo while I'll pusk Ji Yeon.'' Mi Sun told her as they made their way down the sidewalk toward the park.
Angelica was greatful that Cleo was easy to walk. She got confused when Cleo suddenly stopped and squated.
"Ew.'' Angelica said as Cleo stood up.
"You have to pick that up.'' Mi Sun told Angelica as she handed her a small pink bag.
Angelica gulped and gagged and she attempted to pick up the dog poop. She looked up to ask for help but noticed that Mi Sun was busy changing Ji Yeon's diaper. Angelica took this opportunity to kick the poop into a nearby bush. She cringed as she saw the smear of poop on her shoe. She scrubbed it off in the grass as Mi Sun threw the diaper away in a nearby trash can. Angelica ran up and threw the empty bag away completely forgetting about holding onto Cleo's leash.
"Ready to go?'' Mi Sun asked when Angelica came back to the stroller.
Angelica nodded and then gulped as she looked around. She didn't see Cleo anywhere and was afraid that she would get in trouble for losing the dog.
Mi Sun noticed the look on Angelica's face.
"Don't worry. She runs off sometimes. Here.'' Mi Sun said handing Angelica a pink squeaky ball.
"Make it make noise and she will come.'' Ji Yeon told Angelica.
Angelica did as she was told and made the ball squeak.
Cleo came running up to Amgelica all dirty and muddy. Angelica was glad when Cleo didn't jump on her like Spifi would've.
Angelica threw the ball to Cleo, who caught it and carried it all the way home.
When they got home Mi Sun put Cleo in the bathroom and Ji Yeon in her crib for her morning nap.
"What do we do now Mrs. Min Jun's mom?'' Angelica asked.
"We have to give Cleo a bath.'' Mi Sun answered as she lead Angelica into the bathroom where she started the water.
Once they had enough water Mi Sun put Cleo in the tub and pour some soap into Amgelica's hands.
" Some how Cleo got paint on her so you can scrub her and I'll rinse her off.'' Mi Sun explained.
Angelica wasn't looking forward to touching a dirty dog, but she knew she had no choice.
She took a deep breath and began rubbing the soap all over Cleo. Mi Sun helped her get it in Cleo's folds and hard to reach places. She wasn't the easiest dog to give a bath to, but at least she was calm. Angelica still hated every bit of giving Cleo a bath, especially when she shook water all over her.
They rinsed Cleo off and dried her and let her go. She went right to her bed to take a nap.
Angelica was glad when they went out to lunch. She was afraid she would have to eat something weird that she wouldn't like. She had seen some of the food that brought over to Tommy's for his after school snack and it didn't look or smell good to her.
After lunch they went grocery shopping. Angelica was bored. She just wanted this day to be over with.
They arrived home to an excited Cleo. Angelica pushed Cleo away as she jumped on her.
"You can go play in the playpen with Ji Yeon while I put up the groceries. Cleo won't bother you there.'' Mi Sun offered.
Angelica went back to the living room and opened the door of the playpen shutting it firmly behind her.
Ji Yeon was surprised to see her and quickly put her baby shark plush behind her back.
"Don't worry. I don't want to play with your dumb baby toys. I brought my own toy, which you better not touch since you always break it.'' Angelica snapped.
Ji Yeon relaxed a little and went back to playing by herself.
"You deserve what you got.'' Ji Yeon stated looking up at Angelica.
Angelica thought about this for a minute. She didn't think she deserved what Ji Yeon did to her.
"You made me really mad.'' Ji Yeon continued.''You almost made Cleo disappear forever.''
"Well as you can see she didn't disappear.'' Angelica said motioning toward Cleo who stood outside the playpen wagging her tail.
"But she coulda all cuz of you.'' Ji Yeon shouted.
Angelica sighed but her mood soon brightened when she noticed Mi Sun come into the room with a plate of cookies. They weren't homemade like the ones her aunt Didi always had but a cookie was a cookie in Angelica's eyes.
Angelica opened the playpen door and went over and sat down on the couch where Mi Sun offered her the plate of cookies.
Angelica happily took two in each hand and was surprised when she didn't get reprimended like she usually did when the adults actually caught her sneaking to many cookies.
Ji Yeon saw what everyone else had and decided that she wanted a cookie too. She crawled over to her mother and pulled herself up.
"Snack.'' Ji Yeon said pointing to the m&m cookie in Mi Sun's hand.
"Don't bite me.'' Mi Sun told her putting a small piece of cookie into Ji Yeon's mouth.
Cleo watched the exchange and went over to Amgelica hoping for a treat.
Angelica just stared at her and held her cookies closer to her out of Cleo's reach.
"Cleo leave her alone.'' Mi Sun said holding out a piece of cookie that didn't have chocolate on it.
Cleo came over and gently took the piece of cookie. She came back over to Mi Sun and licked her hand looking for more cookie.
"I don't have anymore.'' Mi Sun said wiping her hand on her pants.
Cleo knew she wasn't going to get anything from Angelica so instead she went over to Ji Yeon and licked her face clean of all the cookie crumbs.
Ji Yeon giggled and offered Cleo the rest of her cookie.
Mi Sun hurriedly took it away and took out all of the chocolate before handing it back to Ji Yeon to give to Cleo.
Ji Yeon dropped the cookie on the floor where Cleo happily ate it.
Soon the cookies were all gone and Mi Sun took the plate back into the kitchen. Cleo followed her and sat down near the cabinet and whined.
"Cleo you just had a snack. It's not dinner time yet.'' MI Sun laughed as she washed the plate.
Cleo scratched at the cabinet door and whined once more.
"Dogs can be so annoying sometimes.'' Angelica commented as she leaned against the counter.
" Yes they can, but Cleo isn't so bad once you get to know her.'' Mi Sun said as she dried the plate and put it in the cabinet.
Angelica had to admit that Cleo wasn't to bad. She still didn't like her though.
"Ji Yeon!'' Mi Sun exclaimed as she caught Ji Yeon playing in Cleo's water.
Ji Yeon just stared at her mother and splashed more water on her face.
Mi Sun sighed and picked Ji Yeon up and carried her to her room to get changed.
"You can give Cleo a treat so she'll srop beimg annoying. They're on the bottom shelf in a pink bag.'' Mi Sun said as she passed Angelica.
Angelica was getting annoyed at Cleo's whining so she opened the pantry and pulled out a pink bag with Hello Kitty on it.
She opened the bag and pulled a treat out. It was a tan color and shaped like Hello Kitty's head. It reminded Angelica of a small cookie. She sniffed it and shrugged. It didn't smell to bad. She popped into her mouth and found that it didn't taste to bad despite what it was.
Cleo whined and pawed at Angelica's leg.
Angelica threw some treats down for Cleo and shoved a few more in her mouth and a few in her pocket forgetting for a second what she was eating. She remembered the last time she had mistakenly eaten dog treats when she ran away from home. This time she didn't care because these tasted very similar to actual cookies. Soon enough the bag was empty. Angelica gulped and hid the empty bag in the trash.
"Is there anything special that you would like for dinner?'' Mi Sun asked when she came back in the kitchen with Ji Yeon all dried off and changed.
"Nothing with broccoli please.'' Angelica said sweetly.
"Don't worry. I don't like broccoli either.'' Mi Sun assured her.
Angelica went off to watch TV while Mi Sun began preparing Ji Yeon's dinner.
Cleo followed Angelica and joined her on the couch.
"Go away. What do you want from me anyways?'' Angelica asked when Cleo layed her head on Amgelica's lap and began licking her hand.
Angelica shoved Cleo away and got up. She went back to the kitchen and sat in a chair where Cleo couldn't reach her.
"Dogs are discusting.'' Angelica remarked wiping her hand on her dress.
"What did Cleo do now?'' Mi Sun asked as she turned on the rice maker.
"She licked me.'' Angelica answered.
"That's what dogs do. I didn't like it at first either. I was afraid that Cleo would bite me. You get used to it.'' Mi Sun said handing Angelica a wet wipe.
Angelica secretly wished that Mi Sun was still afraid so she wouldn't be in this situation right now, but at the same time she was curious to know to know how Mi Sun got over her fears, not that would be letting a dog willingly lick her face anytime soon. She just wanted to know why Mi Sun decided to get a dog in the first place if she was afraid of them.
"So you're not scared anymore even after what I did?'' Angelica asked wadding the wet wipe up as she looked at Mi Sun nervously.
"I was at first, but just like last time my husband convinced me to not be afraid.'' Mi Sun smiled fondly as a memory began to take shape in her head.
Flashback
"What's the whipped cream for?'' Mi Sun asked one night after she got the the kids in bed.
"I thought we could have some ice cream and watch a movie now that the kids are asleep.'' Jin answered putting some extra whipped cream on Mi Sun's sundae.
They sat down and started the movie when Jin leaned over and put some whipped cream on Mi Sun's nose.
"You have some whipped cream on your face.'' Jin remarked with a smirk.
"Only because you put it there.'' Mi Sun laughed and was about to wipe it off.
"Don't.'' Jin said moving her hand away gently. "You want to face your fears. This is how you do it. Now close your eyes.''
"Ok.'' Mi Sun said a bit uncertainly. She sighed and closed her eyes wondering how this was supposed to help her completely get over her fear of Cleo. She had been living there a whole month and Mi Sun still didn't get to close to her.
Mi Sun opened her eyes when she felt something wet on her nose.
"See. She's not going to bite you.'' Jin said setting Cleo between them.
"Maybe you're right.'' Mi Sun laughed as Cleo licked some melted ice cream off her hand.
End of flashback
"Oh dinner is done.'' Mi Sun announced coming back to the present as the rice maker went off signaling that the rice was done.
Angelica was surprised but greatful when Mi Sun put Cleo outside. She was even more surprised when Mi Sun placed a plate of chicken nuggets and fries in front of her.
"I thought I was going to have to eat something weird.'' Angelica said with her mouth full.
"I always have these in the freezer in case Min Jun's friends don't want what I cook.'' Mi Sun told her not taking offence to Angelica's rude comment.
"What made you scared of dogs anyway?'' Angelica asked. She didn't like dogs very much but they didn't scare her either.
"I got attacked by a dog when I was little.'' Mi Sun answered taking a sip of her water.
"Oh.'' Angelica said. She felt a little bad for making Mi Sun scared once more. She just wanted Cleo and the kids to be quiet.
"it's not nice to lie about something or someone hurting you.'' Mi Sun told her as she fed Ji Yeon some rice. "Lies can have very bad consequences.''
"Like Cleo almost being destroyed?'' Amgelica asked. She had overheard her parents talking the night of the incident.
"Yes.'' Mi Sun answered.''Cleo did nothing wrong and almost paid with her life for no reason.''
Hearing this made Angelica feel worse and she stopped eating. Sure she didn't like Cleo, but even she wasn't as bad as Spifi.
"I'm sorry.'' Angelica said taking her empty plate to the sink when she was finished with dinner.
"Thank you for apologizing.'' Mi Sun said as she began to wash the dishes.
The door bell rang and Mi Sun went to answer it. Angelica took this opportunity to pull the rest of the dog treats out of her pocket and put them in Cleo's bowl.
She quickly washed her hands and ran to her father as he stood in the living room waiting for her.
"So Angelica did you learn your lesson?'' Drew asked as they walked home.
"Oh yes daddy. I never want to spend another day with a dog again.'' Angelica answered.
"And?'' Drew asked as he unlocked the door.
"I won't lie about dangerous things again.'' Angelica promised.
