Chapter One: Maria Returns
"To Joaquin!" Some men shout as Alexis is sitting with Maria and Joaquin at a table.
"A great hero! Too bad you're just in town for a few days. If only there were something that would make you stay... like a special girl. Eh Maria?" Maria's father says.
"Papa!" Maria shouts as she walks away before Alexis and Joaquin follow her.
"Maria I'm sure your dad means no harm. Maybe he is just playing." Alexis says.
"Maybe. It's so wonderful to see you again Joaquin. You as well Alexis. Look at that mustache. And all those medals." Maria says.
"That one is new. How'd you get it?" Alexis asks as she looks at a medal.
"Nothing! Nothing, nothing. What? I didn't- Why don't you tell me a little more about Europa?" Joaquin asks.
"I loved it. Such beautiful music and art and books. It was wonderful." Maria says.
"Books, art, wonderfulness. You sound like you've learned so much Maria. I'm sure one day... you are going to make a man very, very, very happy. And I hope that man's mustache or his medals... makes you very, very, very, very happy." Joaquin says.
"Oh is that so?" Maria asks.
"Well, yes. Behind every man with an amazing mustache is a beautiful woman. she will have many responsibilities to please her man." Joaquin says.
"And what's wrong with letting them be who they are?" Alexis asks.
"Nothing but it is a woman's job to make a man happy and vice versa." Joaquin says.
"I have lost my appetite. If you'll excuse me." Maria says.
"Ditto." Alexis says as she leaves with Maria.

"Joaquin are you certain there are no other women you have interest in?" Alexis asks.
"I'm positive. Speaking of Maria." Joaquin says as he goes over to maria and holds out a ring to her.
"Joaquin. What are you doing?" Maria asks as Joaquin gets down on one knee.
"Maria... uh will you... Will you marry me?" Joaquin asks as Alexis gives a sad look and walks off.
