Nuts and Dolt's
Short: The magic Ring
Tai was looking for his daughter Ruby, He had turned to stop the water from boiling over while he prepared the noodles. He heard giggling and his six-year-old was gone. Yang had left to play with some friends and Qrow was off on a mission. Their house wasn't large so how was she able to hide so well. He had checked her room, Yang, Qrows, and even the cellar and nothing.
"Ruby where are you?" Tai asked from the living room. He heard giggling from upstairs. He smiled and went up the stairs. He saw his bedroom door open so he snuck up and peaked in. Ruby was staring at a glint of gold. Tai's heart stopped, that was Summers ring. She tried to put it on but it was too big for her tiny finger. Tai couldn't help but chuckle. Ruby jumped from the shock of being discovered.
"Daddy… Uh, I'm not in your room. You're uh um dreaming? Yeah dreaming." Ruby spoke slowly trying to come up with the right excuse.
"What do you have there Ruby?" Tai asked with fake curiosity.
"Oh, I found this shiny hoop thingy when I was digging through your chest." Ruby showed off the ring before her eyes grew big with realization.
"Oh really? What did I say about going through my chest?" Tai sternly said.
"Not to? But I...I just want to know about mommy." Ruby kicked her tiny foot.
"Hmmm, I guess it's time," Tai said picking up his daughter and placing her on the bed. "Your mommy was a hero." Ruby's eyes grew to ridiculous sizes.
"Then what's this?" Ruby asked holding the ring.
"Uh well that was the magic ring I gave her," Tai said.
"How is it magic?" Ruby asked.
"Well when you really care for someone you give them a ring and it keeps them safe from harm." Tai lied not wanting to explain marriage to his precious daughter.
"Really? Then why is she gone?" Ruby looked at the ring. "Why didn't she take this with her?"
"Honey." Tai thought for a second. "I don't know, maybe she wanted you to have it. Her heroics made her life dangerous and she loved you so very much."
"Then can I keep it?!" Ruby asked a little excitedly.
"Of course but keep it safe ok. After all, it's magic."
Vital Festival
Ruby was watching Penny's match against CRDL and cheered as she won by slamming the boulders they hid behind down. Penny was her best friend. Of course, they had only known each other for a few months but she couldn't see her life without Penny. Even if she was a robot Penny had more soul than anyone she knew. She knew Penny's next match would be against Pyrrha so Ruby went down to talk to her friend.
Yang was curious about her sisters' friend so when Ruby left she followed at a distance. She hid around the corner and saw the two embrace. Yang smirked, this was perfect teasing material.
"Penny your next fight will be against Pyrrha right?" Ruby asked.
"Indeed it shall. I am most excited to see how I shall fare against her." Penny spoke with glee.
"Pyrrha is rather strong Penny. I'm worried you might be hurt," Ruby said grabbing the magic ring she kept safe.
"Indeed she is. But I promise I'll win." Penny boasted.
"Penny there's something I want to give you. I don't want you to be hurt and taken away from me ever, so please Penny won't you accept this?!" Ruby pulled the ring out and offered it to Penny. Yang's jaw dropped.
"Did ruby just propose?" She mumbled to herself. Penny searched her databanks for a custom that fit this and her eyes widened. Ruby had just Proposed to her. She happily took the ring.
"Of course I do! I don't ever want to lose you either! I'd be happy to marry you!" Penny pulled Ruby in for a kiss then skipped off to tell the general.
"Wha-what just happened?" Ruby fell to her knees and was blushing madly.
"Awww my baby sister is getting married!" Yang Picked her sister up in a tight hug.
