Maura wakes up shivering. She glances over at the thermostat, which is still set where she left it last night before going to sleep. That can't be it. Maura doesn't hear anything either, except for the steady breathing of Jane right next to her.

Jane. Maura smiles as she looks over to her beloved, in a deep sleep. They had moved in together months earlier, after finally realizing that they wanted to. It seemed that the whole world knew they were bound for one another before they did. Even Angela had nudged them together over the years before they were truthful with one another.

Some things might not be perfect about living with one another, but this certainly was. Lying with each other, night after night would never get old. Maura loved to watch the rise and fall of Jane's chest, and look up and down her. She could stare for hours. Every crevice of her body held something new, something to be adored, and something to cherish.

Maura contemplated getting up to put on more clothing, but then it dawned on her. She was lying in the bed with nothing over her, the queen sized comforter ripped from her skin. Through the darkness, she glimpsed at Jane to see the flower adorned duvet wrapped wholly around Jane's flushed skin.

This was quintessential Jane. She tended to sleep restlessly, haunted by her past, Maura had guessed. She had rolled up the whole comforter over her, with the edges of it falling off the bed. As adorable as she looked in this sleepy state, Maura was frozen. She needed to get back some of the blanket.

Maura started to shimmy her way into the center of the bed, nearing closer and closer to an edge she could pull away from Jane. As she pushed further, Jane stirred but didn't wake. This was Maura's encouragement to keep going, so she did.

She grasped the edge of the duvet, and gently pulled. Jane turned over, her defined stomach poking out of her tank top.

"Hmm?" Jane managed in her sombered state.

Maura mumbled back, "It's nothing, go back to sleep.

Jane, however, was up.

"What's wrong Maur?" she asked, using Maura's pet name.

Maura gave in, responding, "I'm just cold, that's all. You took the blankets to your side."

"Oh!" Jane managed, before stopping a moment to think. "Well I may have a better solution."

"And what may that be?" Maura responded, bemused.

With a smirk, Jane moved in closer to Maura, pushing the blanket down onto the floor. She didn't explain what was about to happen, so Maura contently let it occur.

Jane pushed her body firmly against her girlfriends, making every body part connect, and wrapping herself around Maura just as the blanket had just been wrapped around her body. Maura giggled slightly, as this was quite the sight to behold. Being several inches taller than Maura, Jane's legs were rather too long for the situation, and looked very gangly.

Once she settled into her final position Jane whispered to Maura, "Look, now I will be your blanket!"

Maura loved to see what she believed to be "soft Jane" after long days of "tough cop Jane". This moment of intimacy really made her think about how loved she was. She grabbed Jane closer now, and the two of them were bound like they could never be separated.

Now, Maura didn't feel quite so chilled. Their body heat was warming Maura, and the pair fell asleep again contentedly.
