"I'm fine. Just thinking." he replied, but his mind wandered elsewhere.
He wandered back into the mall to find Roxanne. Every green, red or purple object made him pause if it had any resemblance to a wolf's form. Most of it was his imagination going crazy. All he wanted was to see her again. There was a burning hole in his heart when he was away from her that couldn't be filled.
He found Monty, Freddy and even Chica in their rooms backstage. All of them looked like they were happy to see him as he walked by. Just one more room to check. She had to be in there! He slowly walked up and started to see objects in the room, but the further he got, the more empty it was. The door to the stage was closed so she probably wasn't out there. He heard the beat drop on R3hab's remix of Closer by the Chainsmokers then Halsey's line played just as he was going to check the last corner of the room.
"You look as good as the day I left you. I forget just why I left you, I was insane!"
"I really was crazy to think I could ever leave her." he said with a smile on his face before he was rudely interupted.
"Gregory! Wake up!" his mom said as she shook him out of his daydream. "Finish your homework!"
"I have to see her! I need to know if she's okay! Take me back to the mall!" he hollered back, not even aware of what he said.
"Woah now! Don't you holler at me! Who are you talking about as well?"
"Roxanne! I love her!"
Greg's mom took him back as he asked once he clarified what was going on, even if she though he was a little nuts. He dashed back to where the animatronics were as fast as his legs could carry him. Everything came flooding back to him, from the animatronics being in their rooms, the R3hab remix playing, and the room appearing to be empty. However, he heard someone singing and immediately knew who it was.
"Roxanne!" he hollered with excitement as he rounded the last corner, and saw the beautiful lady sitting in a chair as she turned to see what was going on.
"Hi, Gregory! It's good to see you again! What are you doing here?" she asked as she stood to greet him.
"I had to come back and see you. I was getting lonely." he replied as he ran to hug her waist. She returned the favor as best she could due to their height differences. "I want you to meet my mom. She needs to understand why I begged her to bring me back."
Greg's mom heard him holler and ran after his voice, terrified for his safety, before she saw him walking beside a tall, slender, absolutely beautiful wolf that rounded a corner. She had gray fur with long green bangs, a red crop top and matching bottom, purple and black tiger striped bracelets. Her face was eerily human looking with 2 black stripes on each side, but there seemed to be no hostile intent anywhere on it. Rather she was wearing a warm smile and she had a hand on Greg's back while he was hugging her waist.
"Gregory, are you okay?" she asked as she rushed over to him.
"Mom, this is Roxanne! This is who I wanted you to meet!"
"It's nice to meet you mam." Roxanne said politely.
"Nice to meet you too Roxanne. Greg has been talking about you all day today." she replied.
"He's a very handsome young man with the biggest heart in the world." Roxanne replied with a smile on her face as she placed her right hand on her hip while Gregory blushed and hid his face in her tail.
"I'm very proud of the young man he's becoming. So how exactly did he meet you?" she asked as Roxanne led them back to her room.
Once Gregory explained the story of the kids at school thinking he was crazy for liking an animatronic and what he saw in her, it made a lot more sense.
"I noticed what was going on with the other kids making fun of him and knew I had to keep an eye on him. I can't let someone be made an outcast, especially from their friends, so we ended up becoming friends as a result." Roxanne said as she smiled softly at Gregory.
"So does that mean that you..." Greg hesitated to say.
"I like like you too Gregory." she replied as she hugged him.
"The Queen likes me back!" was all he could think for the next few minutes. He knew when he went back to school he'd hold his head a little higher from now on. Nobody could ever take away what he had.
