Vivian Ryan and Steve McGarrett were sitting in Steve's car in the mountains of Hawaii, away from the drama and worries of school. The two teens had spent hours there making out. Now the two 16-year-olds were making their way back to their homes.
"I'll see you tomorrow" Vivian kissed her boyfriend's cheek and opened the car door, "Bye Vi" Steve called out.
Steve got to his house a few minutes later, what he wasn't expecting was police cars, Steve locked his car door and made is way into his house "Dad!" Steve shouted, seconds later John came out of the dinning room and walked over to his son. "Steve, I don't know what to say, your mum sh-she uh was killed" Steve looked at his dad in shock and confusion not believing his dad.
Steve shock his head and backed up from his dad but John was quicker and pulled him into a hug. Steve didn't know how much his life would change after that night, after finding out about his mum's death Steve stayed with Mary while John spoke to the police. The next day Steve told Vivian and she stayed with him the whole day to comfort him.
Four days later was the funeral for Doris McGarrett, the whole family was broken over the death of Doris McGarrett and John wasn't sure how he was supposed to protect his kids. But by the day of the funeral, he knew what he wanted to do, that's why Debbie McGarrett was there that day she was ready to take 16-year-old Steve and 10-year-old Mary back to LA with her.
When Steve told Vivian she was devastated, in the end the couple decided it would be best to end the relationship them only being 16 and living 2,467 miles away from each other. Vivian said her goodbyes at the McGarrett house before they were taken to the airport by their dad and aunt.
Vivian and Steve stayed in touch with each other, but it was hard because they both had crazy schedule. It wasn't till three months after Steve left that Vivian started noticing differences to herself like she felt or was sick in the morning and curtain smells made her want to be sick, she was gaining weight which she didn't understand because she had a healthy diet, when she told her older sister the two of them went out to by a pregnancy test well more like 8, and they all came up as positive. Vivian didn't know what to do, Steve was the father of her child, and he was miles away from her.
Vivian told her parents, and they were supportive and told her they would be there for her no matter what she decides, they ended booking a doctor's appointment so see if the baby was healthy, that was what made Vivian make her finial decision to keep the baby.
When Vivian was around 4 months pregnant she found herself sitting in the McGarrett house hold with her parents talking to John McGarrett (Steve's dad) about the baby, John told the Ryan family not to tell Steve, that he wasn't to know about the baby Vivian wanted to protest but the adults shot her down told her that Steve wasn't going to know, after that day Vivian Ryan rarely spoke to Steve, she kept the conversations small and simply, she dropped out of school and became home schooled and hoped no one would find out in till the baby was born.
5 months later Kaia Doris Ryan was born Mother Vivian Ryan father unnamed. John gave money to Vivian every month for the baby and Steve still didn't have a clue that he was a father.
