Happy Halloween everyone! Here's a oneshot between Lucas and Ness, with some Mario and Peach.
The Smash Mansion, at the time of month, was filled with merriment as it was alive and buzzing with activity. Though some denizens such as Lucario and Meta Knight chose to spend their time in solitude, others were out of their rooms, doing whatever activities, such as watching movies or playing games, or planning for the next day ahead. Such is with the lattermost case being Mario, who currently had his hands occupied with the schedules of the next battles set to take place the following day.
All items on, Team Battle. Duck Hunt Dog was with Megaman, going up against Mr Game and Watch and King Dedede on Battlefield… His eyes scanned the bright screen, making sure that each battle and their rules and conditions were set. The next battle after that would be a one v. one, Snake against Samus on Final Destination, with all the items set off.
Master Hand had always put him in charge to set battles for each day when he was unable to fulfill that role himself. Each Smasher that had a battle would be given a notification on a touchpad set in their room to remind them of the battle.
Checking the conditions until he was satisfied, he left the Battle Rules room. In between was an indestructible glass panel, and beneath it was the massive empty space that would quickly morph a chosen stage from any world, and empty stands where the audience would cheer for their chosen fighter.
Walking down the grandiose and immaculate halls of the room until he found his way to the common room, where it was empty save for only a couple of individuals. Mario's eyes met the person he was looking for, and a smile crept on his face as he approached her.
She smiled demurely as he approached her, planting a kiss on his cheek. "Finally done with the battle schedule?"
"I suppose-a so." He glanced around the empty space. "Where is-a everyone? Where are the-a kids? I-a usually see Toon Link running around-a here." Mario knew that he had been preparing and working an hour around dinner, trying to make sure each task in his schedule was complete.
Peach paused in slight confusion, before she giggled. "Have you forgotten, silly? It's Halloween! They're going out trick or treating! They went before dinner!"
Mario gaped in open mouth surprise, then he chucked. "I had-a forgotten." He admitted. "I was-a busy with something."
"Busy with what?"
"Master Hand. He-a asked me to help him check and-a help him with some things most of the day."
"Well…" Peach grinned, tilting a hand under Mario's chin. "Now, you're done with your work. Perhaps you have time for me now…"
Mario smiled, glancing around to make sure no looking bystanders were in sight, as his face was flushed and his eyes full of desire. Before he could do anything though, a loud bang erupted, as the children Smashers, garbed in their Halloween costumes, came rushing in with shouts and screams of elation and laughter from the open doors of the Mansion.
Mario nearly jumped, his heart settling as he watched the young Smashers scamper across and around the halls, their bags full of sweet goodies and other tooth rotting concoctions. The pair of Ice Climbers, Popo and Nana, rushed in after Toon and Young Link.
"Oof!"
Mario looked across to see the small blonde Smasher, Lucas. He came over to him.
"Ah! You all-a-right, Lucas?"
The blonde boy smiled, nodding. "I'm fine!"
A voice erupted from one of the hallways. "Lucas, let's go!"
"Coming, Ness!" Lucas nodded to the plumber again. "Thanks, Mister Mario!"
"No problem-a!"
The blonde boy scampered after his friend again, as both Mario and Peach chuckled at the children's antics. Mario wasn't too worried about the children making too much noise that it would disturb the other Smashers who preferred their peace and quiet. The walls were so soundproof that even the clap of Master Hand and his brother, Crazy, were nothing more than just a low rumble to be ignored and disregarded. He wondered if the two boys had something… more to their relationship, though if they did. It was probably none of his business.
"Well, considering how we were interrupted, how about we take it to our room? A few of the other Smashers are out and I don't want them to interrupt us again when they come back."
Mario grinned, and held out a hand for her to take. "It would-a be my pleasure."
Peach giggled, and taking Mario's hand, the two made their way towards their room.
Lucas looked over his candy he piled on top of his bed and his face scrunched up in slight distaste. "Why... I got so many Almond Joys. I hate Almond Joys."
Ness grinned, taking a bite out of the end of a Mars bar. "Why do you hate them?"
"Claus made me try them once. Haven't eaten one since. I don't understand why he likes them." Lucas winced at the memory. He cursed whatever heathen who decided that coconut and chocolate should go together.
They should always remain separate.
"Let's do a candy trade then."
"Candy trade?"
"Sure! If ya don't want some of your Almond Joys, I can trade you for whatever I have!"
Lucas paused. Don't tell me… The raven haired boy had a smile-that smile-on his face, and Lucas knew what he was thinking. He remembered last week where Toon Link had pranked Ness by taking his baseball bat away, and it involved a few more things with the baseball bat.
"You're not going to actually eat them are you?"
"Nope!"
Lucas sighed. "You should let it go."
Ness gave a mock scowl, though the blonde knew he wasn't truly mad. "And let him get away with that? Hell no! Now do you want to trade or not?"
He nodded. He supposed it wasn't his business after all, and he didn't really want his Almond Joys.
He held out three bars, to which Ness took a handful of small candy bars from his pile without looking and accepted the trade.
Lucas looked at what Ness had given him. Miniature Snickers, Laffy Taffies… Hershey Kisses.
Or what used to be Hershey Kisses, as the triangular cone shape the chocolate originally was meant to form was now a flattened circle.
He shot a look at the raven haired boy, but the boy shrugged unapologetically, a smile on his face. "Hey. You accepted my offer to trade without looking. It's all on you."
He smiled. "You probably shouldn't eat all of it. Popo and Nana would want to see what we got."
"Hmm? Yeah."
Lucas took his candy and dumped it in the bag, yawning. "Well, I'm gonna go to sleep now. Goodnight."
"Night."
Lucas shut off the lights and pulled a blanket over himself. Ness was about to shut off his own lights until he paused, an idea coming to him. Looking across to Lucas's bed, a smile formed on his face.
Lucas began to drift off, his mouth slightly ajar in a quiet snore. Ness crept up to him with quiet footsteps, and with Hershey Kisses and other chocolate coating his mouth, he kissed Lucas on the lips.
Immediately, Lucas's eyes snapped open and he flinched backwards with a startled shout. His eyes immediately fell on the raven haired boy, who was laughing, his tongue removing the traces of chocolate.
"Ness!"
The boy was still laughing. "Gotcha! You looked too cute sleeping like that so I couldn't help but give you a Hershey Kiss. Come on. Don't tell me you didn't like that!"
Lucas shot him a glare, but even as he did so, he couldn't help but think that moment was... enjoyable.
His face must have been red, because Ness broke into further giggles. "Cmon, stop being so serious for once. Did you like it?"
"I can't believe that I'm dating you." Lucas spoke, though he couldn't hide the smile threatening to form, and his eyes glittered with mirth. "You gave me a heart attack!"
"It's cuz you love me, that's what!" Ness reached out, hugging the boy tightly around him. "Say it!"
Lucas laughed, embracing him. "Alright. I love you. I love you."
The two spent a few minutes, laughing, before Lucas quickly sobered. "I'm gonna sleep now."
"Do you want another kiss?"
"Hmm… Nah!" Lucas watched his boyfriend's face fall. "You know what? Fine!"
The raven haired face lit up again and he planted another kiss. "There! Off to bed!"
As Lucas pulled the covers over himself, drifting off once more, he couldn't help but think of the chocolate kiss Ness gave him, and how it was desirable.
The faint taste of chocolate was still on his lips even after he drifted off an hour later.
He couldn't spend a better Halloween night than with his boyfriend.
