A/N: This is my first fanfiction that I have written outside of helping fellow authors work on their pieces. So apologies in advanced for how this might turn out. This takes place after the events of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's when the main cast had kids. Special thanks to Magi Mana for assisting me on this project. With that out of the way, please enjoy.

PS: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! If I did, I would give it a larger female casting.

The sun was just beginning to dip as Rose made her way home from her best friend Layla's house. They had spent the day together, but as it was getting late, she decided to take her leave.

"Don't go making trouble now," Layla teased as Rose walked out the door.

"S-shut up!" Rose snapped. I don't go looking for trouble. Trouble finds me"

"Yeah yeah." Layla said as she shut the door.

She took her usual path through the alley to avoid trouble when she spotted something unusual. A boy was lying unconscious next to a trash can, his rags stained with blood as if he got mugged and beat up. He appeared to be a few years younger than she was, maybe 6 or 7. She looked around to see if anyone else was around, but the rest of the alley was abandoned like usual. Without much thought, she picked him up and continued on her way home with him in her arms.

When she got home, she carefully placed him on the couch and went to grab a wet rag from the bathroom. Before she could start cleaning up the dried blood, he slowly opened his eyes.

"Where...am I?" he asked, looking up at the girl kneeling over him.

"Safe." She responded. "Can you tell me your name and what happened?"

"P-Polaris"

"And can you tell me what happened?" She prompted.

He shook his head. "It's fuzzy. I don't…remember."

"Don't push yourself. Just rest."

A few minutes after Polaris fell asleep, the door creaked open. Akiza was greeted by her daughter who had a look of concern on her face. Akiza's smile from having a good day at work faded when she saw her daughter's expression.

"What's wrong?" she asked?

"There was this boy that I saw on my way home…" she began. Akiza gave her daughter a quizzical look. Rose continued, "He's very badly injured and was unconscious when I found him on my way home. Couldn't just leave him there so…" she pointed to the boy currently resting on the couch.

"ROSE! Why didn't you call me?" She rushed into the living room, to take a look at the boy." She puts one hand over his head while using the other hand to check his pulse. "Thankfully, it doesn't seem that he has a contusion, but he might have a concussion. I might have to stitch up some of his injuries." Akiza took the rag that Rose was still holding and began to work. "While I'm tending to him, can you go upstairs and find some fresh clothes for him?"

As she did what her mom asked, she couldn't help but wonder why she didn't call her mom. Why did she bring him here instead of calling the paramedics and having them handle things? She rummaged through her old clothes until she found a shirt that looked about his size. She found a cute skirt that matched and set it to the side, admiring the outfit. She tried to find something less girly, but wasn't able to. Shrugging, she went back downstairs to see her mom at work in the kitchen making dinner.

"He will be fine." Akiza noted before Rose asked. "He just needs rest. I'm going to make dinner. Why don't you watch over him until he wakes up." Nodding, she walked into the living room, grabbed a book on the shelf and began to read.

Hours later, he woke to see that the rags he had been wearing were replaced with a black shirt with a rose on it and a pleated pink skirt . The cuts and bruises were washed, cleaned and bandaged. He looked around expectantly, thinking that the girl who helped him would be nearby. Unsurprisingly, she had fallen asleep reading in a nearby chair. He also saw a new face he didn't recognize.

"Why did you help me?" He thought to himself. He quietly got up from where he was laying, and made his way to the kitchen, the smell of whatever was being cooked drawing him in. Akiza saw him and smiled.

"How do you feel?" she asked in a soothing voice.

"Better." he answered. "Why did you do this?" he than asked.

She considered the question for a minute before responding.

"My daughter, Rose, was concerned about you. Besides, we couldn't just leave you to die."

"I'm... Thank you." he finally said.

"Now dinner will be ready in a few minutes. Please go wash your hands." She pointed to a door down the hall. "I'll go wake up Rose when dinners on the table."

Polaris went down the hall to wash his hands like he was asked, and returned to the kitchen a few minutes later. Rose was rubbing the sleep out of her blue eyes as she sat down next to Polaris.

She looked over at him with a smile and asked, "How are you feeling?"

"Better," he answered once again. "Thank you."

"No worries," she responded, smiling even more brightly. She looked over at her mom. "Can we adopt him?"

"Now, Rose," Akiza began, setting a pot on the table. "We should first find out if he has any family before..."

"I don't have any family," Polaris cut in. "I don't remember my father, but my mother said he died before I was born."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Rose said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "What about your mother?"

"She abandoned me a few weeks ago." Tears began to build up in Polaris' eyes.""She... She brought me to the park to play. But it was getting late when I realized that she was gone. "I... I called out to her, but she didn't come." As he said that, tears were now streaming from his eyes. Rose got up to give him a hug as he cried into her. Akiza walked over and wrapped her arms around both of them.

"Tomorrow, I will go downtown and file for adoption."

Polaris sniffled looking up. "Does that... Does that mean...?"

"Welcome to our family, Polaris. Welcome home."
