Pam. Pam. Pam

Three shots pierced the target. May adjusted her protective headset and began again.

Pam. Pam. Pam.

Andrew was Lash and in danger of remaining an Inhuman-killing monster forever.

Pam. Pam. Pam.

Phil and that Rosalind girl were sticking together from morning to night.

Pam. Pam. Pam.

She hadn't slept in days because she couldn't contain her anxiety.

Pam. Pam. Pam.

Her life had gone to hell.

- Nice shots - Daisy commented. She approached the former AC with a smile. May took off her glasses and headphones, placing them next to the gun.

- Anything new? - she asked, changing her shirt.

- We found a point of convergence of illicit weapons in a warehouse in Washington- answered the girl - In the past it was run by a certain Lewis Olliver, arrested last year for affiliation to Hydra. And since the circle is still active...-.

- It could be Ward's - May concluded - Understood. I'll go prepare the Zephyr.

- First Coulson would like us in his office for a meeting- said Daisy. The other nodded and walked past her on her way out.

- Hey May - the girl called her back - is everything okay?

May froze.

- Oh yes - she lied - It was wonderful-

- It seems that Ward is always one step ahead of us - Phil was saying - But today we have the chance to intercept him. So I ask you not to be impulsive and not to let your emotions run away with you.

Jemma lowered her gaze.

- FitzSimmons, you will coordinate the mission from the base facilities, I want you to analyze the found weapons in the meantime. Morse, May, Johnson and Hunter I want you on the ground with loaded guns. MacKenzie control in the air, I want you ready to go with a team in case things go wrong. Is that clear?

The team nodded. Phil looked at his wristwatch.

- I'll be I have a meeting with Rosalind and I won't have you on the air - he added.

May mentally rolled her eyes. Was he even calling her by her first name now? She didn't even seem the only one unhappy about this "intimacy" between Coulson and the head of the blah blah blah Unit.

- I saw your faces- the Director scolded them- but Rosalind is someone we can trust-

"Yeah, right" thought May. She exchanged a glance with Daisy, who shrugged her shoulders.

- All right, you can go - Phil dismissed them. The Cavalry made to leave but the man called them back.

- May, stay a moment-

Everyone else left and the two were left alone. Phil looked at her with a sad smile.

- I'm sorry about Andrew- he said. May shrugged her shoulders.

- What could I do about it? - she asked, more to herself than to her friend. But did she really consider him a friend? Bah, she didn't understand anything about his feelings anymore. When Andrew had come back she had thought for a moment that they would get back together and live happily ever after. But it had all gone to shit. Again! And every time she was with Phil, she just wanted him to kiss her after years of on and off.

- You always take all the blame- said Phil pulling her out of her thoughts.

"But that's so Phil!" wanted to say May with a shudder of anger at the Director. She didn't even understand why. It was just... That Phil didn't seem to understand her. He was all about his new alliances with his new little friend and he was distant. What was he sorry for anyway? For interrupting them while they were kissing?

The friend gently laid a hand on her arm. She continued to smile.

- If you need anything, anything at all...- he said.

- I'll ask, yes Phil, that's fine- May interrupted him with more coldness than necessary, turning to leave.

- Melind...- began to say the Director but the woman closed the office door and left.

- May and Johnson, present- Daisy said into her earpiece. May surveyed the perimeter with her eyes and gun drawn. They were in a dark hallway. There wasn't a soul in sight. Not right now.

- Why do I get the feeling they're going to jump on us at any moment?- joked Daisy.

- Because maybe they are - said the other one with a half smile.

There was a moment of silence.

- Do you know anything about Andrew?- ventured Daisy, cautiously.

May shrugged her shoulders.

- What should I know? How long is it before he becomes an uncontrollable blue beast for good?

- It must be bad to deal with- murmured the girl.

May didn't answer.

- You know... - Daisy began, but a terrible cry interrupted her. The cry of a girl. The two officers looked at each other and then began to run down the corridor. There was silence again and the two stopped. And then it began again. Daisy and May looked around, but there was no one there.

- Mae! - the mysterious girl shouted again. The blood in May's veins stopped circulating. Her heart stopped for a moment. No! It was not possible! They couldn't have taken her. She was safe, no one knew she was...

- Mae!- she felt again. May started running again like a madwoman.

- May, what's going on? Daisy asked, following her - May?

But the woman didn't listen. She kept looking around, running, her gun high. She had to reach her, she had to save her, who knows what they were doing to her. They ended up in a dead end, but the screams were louder. Where was she, where was she, where was she?

- Lizie! - shouted May - Lizie!

A gunshot was heard and something fell at the officer's feet: a tape recorder.

Daisy had one hand up. She bent down to pick it up. She turned it back on and the voice began to shout again, but strangely twisted.

- It was fake May - the girl said, looking at the former AC from behind - It wasn't... Lizie-

Then she looked at the dead end wall: big, red, menacing, the Hydra crest was engraved on it.

A.N. I'm going to preface by saying that this fan fic is going to twist the story a bit and also May's character. I ask you in advance to forgive me if you don't like the idea, but it was something that had been buzzing around in my head for a while and now that I'm reviewing Agent of Shield I put it in writing. Thanks for reading. Enjoy.
