How One Falls in Love Again

A motorbike was parked in front of the local hospital, and the one getting off the vehicle was none other than Semi Eita. It was four in the morning he decided to drive out because his roommate was suddenly having painful cramps. Semi wondered why girls could even have sudden pains in the morning. Kiyoko Shimizu was owing him food later in the morning. Not to mention he had a part-time job as a barista earlier in the day.

"Dammit, Shimizu." Semi muttered, taking off his helmet and leather jacket. "I'm not giving you secret discounts later in the day."

He entered the cold and empty hospital, seeing that there wasn't anyone there except for the receptionist. "Sorry, visiting hours aren't open until later in the day," they say, their tone obviously uninterested and not making any eye contact to Semi.

"I'm just looking for the pharmacy." Semi answered, stifling a yawn. Yeah, he really didn't want to be here at four in the morning thanks to his roommate's sudden cramps.

"Fourth floor. You'll see a giant sign." The receptionist says with the same uninterested tone, waving their hand over to the staircase nearby. "And hurry up."

The latter rolled his eyes before deciding on taking the stairs. After what happened a few weeks ago with Tendou Satori involving a hotel elevator, he would rather take the long way up. Besides, the cafe he works at was around the sixth floor. Climbing up the stairs was fine.

Semi made it to the fourth floor, only to see the pharmacy open but had the sign, "Will be back" hanging from the booth. 'Where the hell do they go at four in the morning?' Semi grunted as he found a seat that was nearby. There wasn't even another receptionist here and it was getting awfully cold. The mistake of taking off the leather jacket was already coming to him. 'Should've kept the jacket on...dammit.' Semi rubbed his arms for some sort of warmth, which worked for a couple of minutes before someone took the sign of the booth away. The male sighed in relief as he stood up and walked to the counter. "Hey, do you have painkillers?" Semi asks as he fumbles for his wallet.

"Let me guess, cramps?" Semi looked up from and saw a familiar grey-haired male chuckling at him. "Sorry if Shimizu bothered you at this hour."

"Didn't know that you worked here, Sugawara." Semi handed the right amount of money to him as Sugawara Koushi handed him a paper bag. "A friend asked for cover. I'm glad that he taught me all these terms...I wouldn't be able to get everything done without him."

"You mean that guy with the black rooster mane?" Semi joked.

"Don't call Kuroo that." Sugawara huffed at him. "You know how he gets when people make fun of his hair."

Semi shrugged with a smile. "Yeah, fine. I'll try to stop making fun of his hair. Anyway, when are you going to ask Kiyoko out? You keep doing this kind of stuff for her."

"I don't know what you mean?" Sugawara asks with a raised eyebrow. Semi gave a poker face at him before sighing. The former knew about Sugawara's feelings for the raven-haired beauty. "Suga, you literally had a pink heart whenever you saw her-Not as excessive as your other friends who see the same thing, but you get the picture."

"I'm way out of her league." Was Sugawara's answer. "What about you? Has your heart changed from green to pink?"

Semi stared at him for a few moments before shrugging again. It had been...what? A couple of years? OK, maybe not that long, but probably high school years at most. That was the last time his heart actually felt something, but slowly it just went down the rabbit hole.

Funny how his heart didn't turn black yet.

"Nah. Not interested." Semi answered. "See you later in the day, I guess."

"Yeah, see you." Sugawara waved at him as Semi started walking away.

Semi turned over to the corner before putting the paper bag in his pocket, clutching his chest. It had been a while since anyone had opened up the topic, really. Truthfully, his own heart was just a pale grey.

Pale grey just meant that he had a difficulty in finding anyone. If it went any darker then he would probably wouldn't even look at anyone differently. He'd just look at everyone like he would look at modern everyday objects: He'd just be indifferent to everything.

A sigh escapes his lips, looking at his phone. It was already close to five am. Did he wait that long for time to pass? "I better get back before Kiyoko decides to lock me out of the apartment." Semi muttered, hiding his phone and traveled down the stairs. Once he reached the ground floor, he saw a couple (from the looks of it, they were parents) and another male sitting down on one of the chairs. The receptionist who showed uninterest earlier was now all ears on what the couple was saying.

The male who was sitting down was just staring at his parents with a somewhat look of regret. Semi must've stared for too long because the male already stared back. He didn't know if it was just him, but Semi was somewhat... surprised? No, that wasn't the right word.

What color heart was it when someone was surprised again? Yellow, right?

Then why was his heart turning orange?

"Kenjirou, let's get admitted already." Semi snapped out of his thoughts as the male-who he now knows as Kenjirou-walks past him as they head to the elevator. Semi blinked before shaking his head as he exits the hospital building.

Oddly cut copper-colored hair, brown eyes, an average build... and he definitely looked upset over what was going on at the reception, considering that he looked at his parents with the utmost hatred he had ever seen.

Putting on his helmet and leather jacket, Semi starts the engine and begins to drive back to the apartment, trying to get his mind off of the copper-haired male.
