WHO KILLED PRIME MINISTER ALMEC?
In the year 19 BBY, near the end of the Clone Wars, a garrison of clones led by former Jedi Ahsoka Tano to assist Bo-Katan Kryze and the Nite Owls in an attempt to retake the planet from its current ruler, the former Sith apprentice Maul. Under his command are the Mandalorian commandos Gar Saxon and Rook Kast and the planet's prime minister Almec. However, Maul's forces, the Shadow Collective, are all but defeated and Prime Minister Almec is in prison.
The Republic forces and the Nite Owls invade Mandalore's capital city of Sundari. After a while, they gain the upper hand over the Shadow Collective and defeat Prime Minister Almec.
Bo-Katan Kryze: What's wrong, Ahsoka? We defeated Maul.
Ahsoka Tano: Maul told me that he was expecting Master Kenobi to meet him in Mandalore, but said that he was interested in someone else other than him.
Captain Rex: Maybe Almec can tell us if we pay him a visit.
Ahsoka Tano: Can you let us do that, Bo-Katan?
Bo-Katan Kryze: Very well.
Meanwhile…
Darth Maul: Saxon, it's time to execute the politician before he can run his mouth.

Ahsoka, Bo-Katan, and Rex, accompanied by several Nite Owls, go to the detention center to question Almec. They open the door of the cell and enter it.
Almec: I'm flattered that you could find the time to see me.
Bo-Katan Kryze: What's Maul's plan? How is he going to escape?

Ahsoka Tano: Bo, help him remember.
Bo-Katan approaches Almec, just before the politician is shot twice in the chest by Gar Saxon, who flees.
Bo-Katan: Saxon.
Ahsoka Tano: Rex, get a medic.
Captain Rex: This is Commander Rex, we have a man down.
Almec: Maul had a vision; a dream, the name…
Ahsoka Tano: What name?
Almec: Skywalker…
The Prime Minister breathed his last as he died.
Sometime after…
Gar Saxon: Citizens of Mandalore! The Republic has saved our planet from the treacherous Almec who was merely a puppet of the criminal Maul. Now, the Empire, which stands in the Republic's place, to ensure a safe and secure society, has appointed me the new viceroy of Mandalore. During the siege of the planet, Prime Minister Almec was apprehended by our forces and incarcerated. However, we have also learned that the prime minister had killed himself with a blaster rifle.
Fenn Rau: (whispering) Almec could not have killed himself. Saxon is likely bluffing.
Gar Saxon: After a thorough investigation of Prime Minister Almec's death, we have come to the conclusion that he blasted himself in the chest, although the cameras were off the whole time. Here's this footage.
Saxon showed the footage of Almec in the cell. Suddenly, there was no signal for several minutes, until it was restored and Almec was seen to have died from two blaster shots and had a blaster rifle in his hand.
Gar Saxon: As you can all see, Prime Minister Almec killed himself.
Fenn Rau: (whispering) I think that Saxon killed Almec to stop him from testifying.
Back then, on Almec's private moon; the second moon of Mandalore...Fifteen years before the Clone Wars, Senator Palpatine, Jedi Master Dooku, and Republic military Commander Tarkin arrived on the moon on a diplomatic mission.
Almec: I'm glad you could make it, Senator Palpatine.
Sheev Palpatine: We've been friends for years, Almec.
Dooku: It pleases me to see you again, Almec.
Almec: Let us take a picture together.
One of Almec's servants takes a picture of him with Palpatine, Dooku, and Tarkin.
Now…
Fenn Rau: Almec was friends with Palpatine and Tarkin?
Gar Saxon: What's wrong, Rau?
Fenn Rau: Why is it any of your business, Saxon?
Gar Saxon: That's Governor Saxon; remember that Emperor Palpatine had appointed me Viceroy of Mandalore, which means you answer to me.
Fenn Rau: No, I will not. I am leaving this planet for Concord Dawn.
Gar Saxon: Very well.
