Tatiana heard a swift slicing sound and a sickening crunch. She peeked out from behind the bushes and saw the great serpent-like demon slithering in the courtyard, knocking over the statue of Caesar, and from its mouth an arm hanging.

Tatiana yelped, turning the serpent's attention, and ran as fast as one could do so in heavy petticoats whilst being with child. Rupert ran towards the snake, brandishing his sword. He continued to fight for a space of time before the demon serpent struck again, and Tatiana heard the horrible sound of the cutting through of flesh.

'No! Nooooooo!' she moaned. 'Rupert! Rupert!' she continued to scream. She barreled towards the front gates where she could see black carriages in the distance. Foolish Gabriel, thought Tatiana. That insolent coward. She wanted to grab hold of her brother's neck and throttle him until he was blue in the face. In fact, as soon as he entered through those gates, that was what she was going to do.

As Mr Hollingworth presented the will of Rupert Blackthorn, he told her of Rupert's bequeathing of Blackthorn Hall to her, and of his wish to name their son Jesse, only if Tatiana wished it too. She would have named their son any name under the sun, even Archibald, which she particularly detested, if it were Rupert's dying wish.

Jesse Rupert Blackthorn, would be his name, to ever remind him of his dear papa, with whom he was destined never to meet.

The End.
