hello everyone and welcome to something wicked ! this is set after s2 but does not follow the show. it instead follows my own plotline. i hope you enjoy :)
a couple of notes:
-this is set six months after season 2
-scott never became a true alpha
-the monsters in the story are based off the tv show supernatural
Mickey crept down the stairs quietly. She knew her brother would still be able to pick it up with his supernatural hearing. Mickey comes to a stop on the last step, watching her brother pull off his shredded henley. Although it was black, Mickey could see the blood that dripped off it clearly. Her brother is barking orders before she could get a word out.
"They're strong, fast. They won't leave the woods. Get me the bestiary."
"Don't tell me what to do." Mickey crosses her arms. "Why aren't you healing?"
"I don't know." Derek answers. He looks at the claw marks that have shredded his skin. Usually the skin would have started healing over by now. The wound on the inside would take a little more time but... it should have started healing. Something was wrong. Very wrong. "Can you get me the book?"
Fuming, Mickey stomps back upstairs to the library in the Hale loft, digging through until she finds what she's looking for. Coming back downstairs, she throws it quite literally at Derek knowing he'll catch it. Derek's hand snaps up, glaring at Mickey as he sits carefully on the couch. His shirt is forgotten on the floor. "Don't get blood everywhere! I just cleaned."
Mickey walks to the kitchen portion of the living room, preparing some tea since she doubts she's getting back to bed anyway. Once it's done, she joins Derek on the couch but is careful to sit on the other end. "What are you looking for?"
"Anything."
"That explains so much." Mickey grumbles under her breathe.
"This thing is killing hikers and tourists in the woods. I couldn't get a good look at it tonight. It's too fast, it sticks to the trees." Derek turns another page in the bestiary. This thing had been hunting people for months. Rumors of another wild animal attack were circulating the town, but the pack knew better. The Hales knew better. Although they had never seen anything like this before, Mickey was certain they would be able to get to the bottom of it. They always did. It was the Hales job to protect Beacon Hills before they left. It fell on them to protect it once more now that they were back.
"Hey, Der?" Mickey starts, biting her nails nervously. She knew now wasn't the time for this conversation but once the thoughts entered her head, there was no getting them out. "Do you ever regret coming back?"
"I don't think about it." Derek said as he turned another page. Mickey nodded. If Derek didn't think about it, then she wouldn't either.
. . .
Ada ignored the knocking on her door, pulling the blankets over her head to drown out the noise. She had heard her brother call her name several times, she just didn't want to get up. "Go away," Ada yells when the knocking continues. Ada yelps when the blankets are yanked back, leaving her exposed to the cold air. Her sleep shorts don't keep her warm like her blanket did. "What the hell, Issac?"
"There's a pack meeting at Derek's. We're late."
Trying and failing to yank the blankets back out of her brother's grip, Ada falls back onto the bed with a sigh. "I'm not going. I'm not pack."
"Yes, you are." Issac balls the blankets up and throws them at Ada's head. "Get up or I'm taking your car."
"Like hell you are!" Ada shoots up, sending her brother daggers as he leaves the room. When the door is shut, Ada quickly trades her shorts for a pair of skinny jeans and throws a random tee shirt over her head. Grabbing her bomber jacket, Ada meets Issac in the living room of their shared apartment where he's aimlessly tossing her car keys in his hand. "Ready?"
Issac tosses the keys to Ada before grabbing an apple out of the bowl on the table and following his older sister out the door. Although Issac tried to shield his sister from the supernatural the best he could, it always found a way to her. So Issac decided the best defense was being honest. Nothing could sneak up and surprise Ada if she was prepared.
Ada is the first one to climb into the silver car, Issac following shortly after. There had been enough pack meetings -and Ada had been forced to go to every one of them- for her to know the way to the Hale loft by heart.
"Have you heard from Erica and Boyd?" Ada makes attempt at conversation, no matter how sour. Everyone knew that two of Derek's betas were missing in action. Part of Ada -okay, maybe all of her- blamed Derek for being so... himself. But they had been closer to Issac than anyone else in the pack. If they reached out, Ada already knew it would be to her little brother.
"Nothing," is Issac's curt reply. Ada sighs, already knowing better than to ask. Their disappearance hurt him more than anyone. They had all been turned roughly around the same time. All been hunted by the Argents together. All dealt with the attacks from the kanima together. Now Erica and Boyd were missing without a trace and Issac was alone all over again.
Ada reaches over to squeeze Issac's shoulder before returning her hand to the steering wheel. Issac wasn't alone. He had her. And as much as Ada hated to admit it, he had the rest of the pack. He even had Derek, who had sheltered Issac when he was on the run from the Beacon Hills police. Ada grumbles to herself as she continues the drive to Derek's loft.
