It was January, and Hiccup was looking out of the bedroom window to see that the entire street was covered in snow. That was more than a little unusual considering that they were in London, but the children playing outside didn't seem to be complaining.

Kids were having snowball fights in the street and building snowmen in their gardens. Apart from the sudden snowfall, everything had been largely peaceful during Christmas, though he did miss his friends.

He then heard a knock on the door, and his father entered. His father, Steven or his friends call him Stoick, was a large amount and a man with a thick red beard. Truth be told, no one would ever suspect that they were father and son as they look nothing alike, except for the emerald green eyes.

This was because he got his physical appearance from his mother, who so happened to be Frigga Norse God of Marriage. Hiccup was known as a demigod, half-human, half-god; this meant that he usually landed himself in a massive amount of trouble fighting against vicious monsters wanting to bring about Ragnarok.

"You could go outside and have some fun, son," his father suggested.

"Dad, don't you think the snowfall is a little strange?" Hiccup asked.

"True, but that doesn't stop you from having fun in it."

Hiccup sighed. "Dad, there's a large possibility this was created by some dangerous monster. If I go outside, that monster will attack me and everyone else around me."

"Son, every time something strange happens, it's not due to a monster," said Stoick folding his arms. "There is something called global warming around."

"I know, plus a little old to take part in a snowball fight and build snowmen."

"You got me there," Stoick admitted.

"Besides, it's not like I'm friends with anyone in the neighbourhood," he said, looking out the window.

It was true, his only friends for his fellow demigods back at Midgard Academy, and many of them were celebrating Christmas with their families. Upon thinking of them, he began thinking of Astrid; he knew that things were steadily improving between her and her mother that said Astrid didn't lose her anger rather easily.

"You could try calling her," Stoick suggested reading his mind.

Hiccup's face turned bright pink. "I don't know what you're talking about!"

Stoick raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh?"

Hiccup groaned; he knew his father was getting back at him for arranging a date with his therapist. His father had been kidnapped by his enemies, but they had managed to rescue him but only just. After everything that happened to his father during an adventure, Hiccup thought it would be wise to get in touch with the therapist.

The therapist in question was a beautiful woman just a few years younger than his father named Violet. Hiccup could tell that his father was in love with her, so he began pushing the two of them closer. It worked, and they spent Christmas with Violet, but his father also knew that he had a crush on Astrid, and he began doing the same thing to him.

"Come on, son, just tell her how you feel," said Stoick.

"Dad, she practically tosses anyone who flirts with her over her shoulder, and I don't want to end up being in the infirmary," said Hiccup.

"From what you told me, it sounds like they had that coming," said his father. "I doubt that she would do the same thing to you."

"I would rather not have to find out."

Stoick sighed. "It's your choice, son. However, I think you should at least go outside and get some fresh air."

He then left Hiccup's bedroom, closing the door behind him.

Hiccup decided to take his father's advice and go outside, though only to avoid his father from bugging him about Astrid. He wrapped up as warmly as he could begin making his way down the street. As he made his way down, and saw people shovelling snow out of their driveways, though it appeared to be a losing battle since it snowed practically every day now.

He could also notice that many people were staring at him or, more precisely, at his prosthetic leg. He lost that a few months ago after one of his adventures, and it had been replaced with a prosthetic courtesy of Gobber. The only problem was that it made it very difficult to walk on the ice, and he skidded every now and then. He had lost trying to protect Astrid and the others by cutting it off himself, but thanks to that sacrifice, he was able to gain the wisdom that rivalled Odin.

Unfortunately, Johann was still out there, and Hiccup knew he would do whatever it took to begin Ragnarok. Ragnarok will be the final day for the gods, the day when the nine worlds came to an end, and Hiccup and his friends had been doing everything they could to prevent that. Johann had once pretended to be their friend, but they discovered that he was a Son of Loki who lived over 1,000 years ago and also happened to be a nemesis of his ancestor.

This, of course, meant that Johann hated him more than anyone else and would want nothing more to see him killed. He nearly succeeded twice now and was currently building up an army that he would use to attack the Academy.

Midgard Academy was a safe haven for all demigods; it was there that they trained to become warriors and heroes. There were, of course of courses at the cabin was a substitute for a normal mortal school. He had more fun at the Academy than he did in any of his previous schools; there again, that was mostly because monsters were trying to kill him.

All this thinking, of course, caused him to think about Astrid. Astrid was utterly beautiful and had the strength to match that beauty, though sometimes you could be awfully stubborn. He developed a crush on her the first time they met; sadly was a one-way street as she didn't think of him all that impressive at the beginning. It was only through their first adventure that she slowly began to warm up to him.

"Look out!" a voice yelled.

A split second later, Hiccup felt someone grabbing the back of his coat and pulled him back. It was only then that he realised that he had almost walked into the road and a car drove by.

"You really need to watch where you're going," said a familiar behind him.

Hiccup looked up and saw Eret looking down at him. Eret was a rather handsome black-haired 21-year-old with broad muscles. He was also the son of Skadi, the Goddess of the Hunt and Winter and a good friend.

"Sorry about that," said Hiccup picking himself up.

"Thinking about the sudden golden-haired girl we know?" Eret smirked.

Hiccup groaned. "Not you, too; I get enough that from my dad."

"Then maybe you should take his advice."

"Why does everyone seem to want to interfere with my love life?" Hiccup groaned.

"Ah, so you're saying that you love her," Eret noted.

"That's not what I meant, and you know it."

"I think it is merely deluding yourself."

Hiccup wished he could disagree, but a small part of him agreed with Eret.

He sighed and looked up at Eret. "I'm guessing you didn't come all the way here just to stop me from being run over."

"When you right, your right," said Eret looking at him seriously. "We've got a problem."

"What else is new," Hiccup sighed. "For once, I would like to go a full school year without going on a massive adventure, and it seems as if I've got two this time."

"Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I'm only here to pick you up on Mimir's orders," said Eret defensively. "No doubt you've noticed that this snowfall in London."

"It's a bit hard not to notice," said Hiccup gesturing to a large amount of snow around them.

"Well, as you might have guessed, it's not because of global warming."

Hiccup sighed; he had been dreading this. "So what is Johann up to now."

"Nothing much is slowly beginning, Ragnarok," said Eret.

Hiccup's eyes widened as he remembered what one of the signs for Ragnarok was. "Wait, are you saying that this snowfall is—"

Eret nodded. "Yep, if we don't find a way to stop this snowstorm, it will carry on for three years, and all life here will perish."
