Chapter 1: Celebrating Nanao Ise's Birthday
Shunsui had woken up as he stretched and rubbed his neck.
He looked over at the calendar and saw that today is Nanao's birthday.
Shunsui gasped as he immediately got out of bed and ran to the restroom to get dressed then he headed to the kitchen to find Nanao.
Shunsui was stopped by Captain Unohana.
"What's the rush, Captain Kyoraku?" Captain Unohana asked.
"Where's Nanao? I have to give her this birthday card." Captain Kyoraku said.
Captain Unohana giggled.
"She's outside by the Koi pond. I hope she'll have a lovely birthday today." Captain Unohana said.
"Wait, did you wish her one?" Captain Kyoraku asked.
"Yes. All of us did." Captain Unohana said as she walked off.
Captain Kyoraku happily sighed as he walked up to Nanao.
"Hey there my sweet Nanao, happy birthday. I hope all is well." Shunsui said.
"Thank you, Captain. I hope you understand that I just want to relax for today. No party today please." Nanao said.
"Awww, but my sweet Nanao, the new guy will be crushed. He loves to throw parties." Shunsui said as he sat next to his niece.
"Who may that be?" Nanao asked.
"His name is Izaya, he doesn't have a last name. He's an orphan." Shunsui explained.
"I think I may see him around a couple of times." Nanao said.
"He's a pretty kind soul, very helpful too. He's almost done with Soul Reaper academy, then he'll be joining us." Shunsui said.
"Wait, you mean, our squad?" Nanao asked.
"Captain Unohana actually wants him to join her squad. He uses kido very well and he rarely fights." Shunsui explained.
"Ah I see. I hope he'll get a warm welcome then. Anyways thank you for the birthday wish." Nanao said.
Shunsui smiled as he kissed her hair and gave her the birthday card.
Shunsui stood up as he headed to the kitchen to get something to eat.
Nanao opened her eyes as she opened the card.
She read what it said and it had many signatures from everyone in Gotei 13.
Nanao smiled at it.
"Thank you, everyone." Nanao whispered.
Rangiku walked up to Nanao and covered her eyes.
"Hi hi! Guess who?" Rangiku said.
"Lieutenant Matsumoto!" Nanao said.
"Whoa, you're so good at this, honey. Hey, do you want to go shopping?" Rangiku asked.
"With you? Why? Are you that bored?" Nanao asked as she fixed her glasses.
"Well yes and no. One today is your birthday and two, yes." Rangiku said as she laughed.
Nanao sighed. "Fine, but we're going to stay there for an hour."
"You got it, girlfriend! Let's get ready." Rangiku said.
Nanao stood up as she saw Izaya talking to somebody.
He looked like he was probably a captain.
Nanao tried to peek but Rangiku called out her name.
Nanao left the scene to catch up with Rangiku.
Rangiku grabbed her purse as she was stopped by Gin.
"Where ya going, mah lady~? Gin asked his lady.
Rangiku blushed. "Shopping~ Do you want anything~?" Rangiku said as she stroked Gin's cheek.
Gin chuckled. "Just you in some sexy outfits, mah lady.~" Gin said as he kissed Rangiku.
Rangiku kissed him back.
"Excuse you! But this isn't the time to be doing that!" Nanao said.
"We'll continue later on tonight, mah lady. Go have fun.~" Gin said as he whispered in Rangiku's ear.
Rangiku nodded and kissed Gin's cheek as she left with Rangiku.
"Calm down, girlie, some day when you get yourself a man, you want to be all kissy kissy to him too.~" Rangiku said.
"Will you hush up with that?" Nanao said.
The two arrived at the world of the living and they headed to their favorite mall, shopping and looking around what to buy.
After an hour, they were done.
"That was fun. I hope you like what you brought!" Rangiku said.
"I brought vintage things and books, you just brought clothes and swimsuits." Nanao said.
"Hey, I want to go swimming again. That was fun." Rangiku said.
Nanao smiled.
"Yes. Same here. Anyways, let's head back home." Nanao said.
"Oh and Nanao, happy birthday." Rangiku said.
"Thank you, Rangiku." Nanao replied back with a smile.
