Chapter 1
Elizabeth Rebecca Cartwright was one week old, and her parents were overjoyed with their little bundle of joy. She had her daddy wrapped around her little finger already and could tell his voice and would react to it when she heard it. And Adam being a new daddy couldn't stand to just sit and listen to his little angel cry for any reason. Which in return would get Rebecca upset and Adam would get a lecture from her on how he was spoiling their baby by doing this.
"Adam you can't pick her up every time she cries. She is smart, she knows you will."
"Rebecca, I am not spoiling her. There is a reason why she is crying."
"OK, what is the reason this time?"
"She needs to burp. See, there it is. Now she's quiet."
"Until you put her down again."
"Oh well, let's see then. Come on sweetie, in you go. Now go to sleep." Adam had a big smirky smile on his face.
"OK, so it worked, this time."
"You my darling wife, have little faith in me."
"I have lot's of faith in you my dear Adam."
"Oh really? Well, I sure wish you were OK to go in our room and you could show me just how much faith you have in me."
"Adam I wish I could also. Unfortunately it has only been a week. I have five more to go according to Paul."
"Well, we don't want to rush it. I want to make sure you are ready and healthy."
"Adam you are a wonderful husband and father. Do you wish we would have had a boy?"
"No Rebecca. I love my little daughter. She is the apple of my eye."
"I'm so happy for that Adam."
"How long will she sleep?
"Until she gets hungry again and wet. Most likely three or four hours."
"Well, why don't you lay down while she is sleeping."
"Yes I am a little tired. She woke up quite a few times last night."
"OK, I have some things to do outside. Have a good sleep." Adam kissed her and left the room after looking in on the baby once more.

Adam was out in the barn when heard a horse coming into the yard. He stepped out to see who it was and he was happy to see his father riding in.
"Hello Pa, nice to see you."
"Hi son. Just thought I'd stop over to see how Rebecca and that new little Granddaughter of mine is doing."
"Oh well, they are both sleeping right now. However I am sure Elizabeth will soon be interrupting that."
"Well I came at the right time then."
"Come on in the house and have some coffee with me."
"Sounds good."

When Adam and Ben got in the house they heard a little faint cry from a tiny little voice.
"Ah, the little princess is right on time."
"She must know her Grandpa is here."
"No doubt. Rebecca will feed her first and change her and then bring her down. Here you go Pa, your coffee."
"Thank you son. So everything has been going alright with Rebecca and the baby?"
"Yes, very well. Elizabeth has been waking up quite a few times through the night however. Rebecca has to sleep when she doe's."
"Well that should ease up soon. Rebecca just has to get her on a schedule."
"Hah, hah, yes well that might be easier said than done. That little one already has a mind of her own."
"Like someone else I know."
"Now pa, was I really that bad?"
"No Adam, you were a strong minded child but also a very wonderful son. You have brought great joy to me over the years. Made me very proud of you."
"Well thank you Pa. OH, here comes my ladies. Hi sweetheart, look who came to visit."
"Hello Pa. Would you like to hold your Granddaughter?'
"Yes I would."
"OK, here you go. There now. Oh look, she knows who you are."
"Hello Elizabeth. Do you recognize my voice already?"
"I told you she was smart."
"Oh she knows daddies voice also."
"Yes, and she has her daddy wrapped around her little finger also."
"Now Rebecca, I don't think that's true."
"Oh yes it is."
"Adam, I have been told that little girls do tend to get their fathers on their side easier than little boys do."
"Then how do you explain Little Joe having you wrapped around his finger Pa?"
"Oh well now, I don't think it was that bad."
"Ah huh."
"Oh you two. Pa, would you like to stay for supper?"
"Oh thank you my dear. Yes I think I would."
"Great. You and Adam can entertain Elizabeth while I start it."
"With pleasure."
"Adam, that means change her diaper also."
"Of course no problem."
"Ah huh."
