A/N: This is a remagining of my story Another Light which was pretty awful and was total garbage. This is the first of three that will be uploaded and these will span all three endings of the original. This is indoctrination theory based so you should have a sence of what I have in mind and I will NOT put out a chapter that I am not happy with, if I think one part is shit then I'll fix it until it isn't (or at least more bearable) so updates will be all over the place, probably a couple weeks or months if it has to so anyways thats enough of my ranting and hopefully you'll enjoy!

"The paths are open. But you have to choose" said the double layered voice of the catalyst. Two platforms on either side of Shepard rose leading to Control and Destroy

On the left was Control. He could control the Reapers however no one person should have that power as The Illusive Man proved that right before he had shot himself. Even if The Illusive man could have controlled them what would have happened? Would he fall under the influence of the Reapers and have the cycle continue? Or would he control them with no strings attached? There were too many risks and Shepard looked away

In front of him was Synthesis, in theory it sounded perfect but thought it naive. Though he made peace between the Quarians and the Geth, which would've been thought impossible 5 years ago, The Reapers were a completely different case. The Catalyst told him he would have to add his energy to the curcible and essentially make some kind of monumental change to organics in order to make this so called "peace". How would the energy effect organic life after he was gone? Would everyone be horrific Reaper husks? Or would everyone glow green? Either way he would be changing everyone and everything in a way he wouldn't know. Shepard then looked right

On his Right was destroy. The choice with Destroy was simple. Destroy the Reapers. However the crucible would not discriminate. If he chose Destroy then The Geth and Edi would die. "save 20 billion over here while 10 billion over here die" Shepard remembered the words from his best friend Garrus. "Ruthless calculus" Shepard sighed. However in this case it was "the entire galaxy or the geth" it still didnt make it easier.

With all three variables in mind it was between

Possible indoctrination and continuation of the cycle

Change everyone and everything in some unknown way

or...

Destroy the Reapers and make one last monumental sacrifice.

Shepard brought out his M-6 Carnifex and started walking up the right pathway.

As he walked to the the glass hiding the wiring powering the crucible he thought of everyone he was leaving behind

Edi.

"Im sorry that you're being taken out of this world as soon as you're starting to live it. I hope that if you end up anywhere after this that you'd forgive me"

Shepard started pulling the trigger shattering the glass that was tormenting him

Garrus.

"well it looks like I'm buying those drinks for us. I'll tell the bartender you're with me. I'll miss you homie."

The glass shattered and fell and Shepard kept walking as he stepped on the sandy walkway and started shooting the fragile wiring

Tali.

Shepards finger hesitated before firing the next bullet

"Tali..." he sighs and swallows the newly formed lump in his throat "Tali... I'm sorry I couldn't come back to you. I wish this could've ended any other way. I dont know how this is going to effect you in the long run but as us humans sometimes say "it it better to have loved and lost to have never loved at all". I will always love you Tali'Shepard vas Normandy."

As he finished his thought the bullets finnaly made their way through the wiring and into the heart of the crucible causing many small explosions and then all at once Shepard was engulfed in the flames of destiny.

Shepard jumped out of his bed with a start nearly knocking a now fully awakened Tali'Zorah onto the floor as he gathered his surroundings he ran into their bathroom and projectile vomited into the sink.

Shepard gasped for air as he finished and looked into the mirror.

"What the fuck was that?" Shepard mumbled to himself

Tali came walking to the door mildly confused on what the hell just happened.

"Shepard are you okay? What happened?"

Shepard jumped and looked at the closed door. All he needed to know was one thing

"Tali? Did we defeat the Reapers?" He asked

Tali was confused as they had just taken out Cronos station and were now on their way to Earth for the final battle. Out of all people Shepard should be the one to know this.

"No. We're on our way to Earth to activate the crucible and end this damn war. Why? What happened?" she asked.

Shepard looked in the mirror and then to the sink.

He turned on the sink and washed out the vomit, washed his hands, and splashed water on his face.

Shepard opened the door and stared Tali in her unmasked face "You're going to want to sit down for this." Shepard said "It's a long story."

A/N: Finally! First chapter done! This was a monster to write mainly cause there's just not alot of Mass Effect fanfiction on this site anymore and I kinda forgot about it mostly. I've also had the idea for this story in my head constantly but I could never write it without having it sound like plot point after plot point. Like for instance this chapter in my head was "Shepard chooses destroy and wakes up from indoctrination dream after destruction of Chronos station but before final push against the Reapers" and thats how i have the rest of the story planned out in my head but my problem with writing is that once i type it out then re read it im like "wow this is hot garbage i cant believe I wrote this crap" so yeah. It's a shame this took like over a year to complete withoutnit sounding like complete garbage. So anyways this actually wont be continued until I have the other 2 parts up which will be the Control and Synthesis endings which will end up at where this chapter ended. Please remember to follow of you like it and leave a review saying if this was trash or not either way it would be very appreciated.
