Bucky's POV
"Why are the humans so scared of us dad?" I asked my father, I was ten at the time. "We just want to help! They don't have to be scared." My father looked at me before replying. "They're much smaller then us Bucky, and they don't know we won't hurt them. And... I think it's time I taught you to take care of them." He and I walked to the room where father kept sick humans. "Remember James," he reminded me. "Don't speak when we're in here. The human isn't used to me speaking so you'll just scare him... never speak to them until they talk to you. Want to feed him?"
I nodded and father gently opened the door. We slowly entered as the human looked at us in fear. My father handed me the small dish that held his food. I slowly made my way slowly over to the caged human and opened his cage door. He scurried away from my hand as I set it down but hurried back as soon as I closed his cage. As soon as he was done father reached carefully for the human. The human scrambled to a corner as he saw my father's hand. My father gently corralled him there and picked him up, being careful to keep their arms at their sides to prevent them from hurting themselves.
He brought them over to an examination table to see if they were well enough to let go. He gently felt their broken leg and ribs... the human winced, but was otherwise fine. My father smiled kindly at him as he placed him back in the cage. We walked out and quietly closed the door. "I can let him go tomorrow." My father said happily before turning to me. "Remember Bucky, we only keep them if they won't ever get better... only then, never for amusement." I nodded... they were most definitely not to be pets. "Good job." My father told me.
Steve's POV
"Why can't I play in the woods mommy?" I asked in confusion, I was nine. "Other people go there!" She hugged me closer and said. "It's not safe Steven. There are giants in there. I don't want to lose you." "Are they bad mommy?" I gasped in fear, she nodded. "There has never been a nice one that I've heard about. One took your father and no ones seen him since. Please Steve, don't go into the woods. Promise me now." "I promise mommy."
