A/N: This is another Teen Wolf story centered around Liam, Mason, and Brett set in Season 6B inspired by my need for more Brett in the show and scenes with Liam. It's also primarily gen and friendship feels.
Warnings: There is the occasional swear word. Also this story is unbeta'd so future apologies for any grammatical mistakes.
Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Wolf and make no money from writing this.

5 year old Liam as Mason is coming to find out is much different than 15 year Liam. For one when it comes to fighting and getting angry as a toddler, Liam is the exact opposite for some reason. He also wasn't a werewolf at the moment. Mason guessed because it put him as he was at that age, mental/physical/emotional state and all. Still Liam would rather run away and hide then fight anyone seemingly very timid and shy with most of the people he meets. It even took him a tiny bit to warm up to Mason. Case in point he thought as he continued searching for his miniature best friend.

Mason wanted it clarified this was NOT his fault, or maybe it was for not investing in one of those toddler leashes. He went to the bathroom for less than a minute. He tried to get Liam to come in with him, but Liam refused claiming it smelled weird. So he told him to wait right outside the door and not move. Well safe to say he moved because when he came out there was no Liam in sight.

At any rate he was now stuck searching a school with only Corey for help. The rest of the pack was currently at college, and Hayden was still gone due to the move. It then occurred to him he did know of one werewolf's number who might possibly be interested in helping. He's helped Liam before. A few seconds later he got a text that he was on his way. Five minutes later he got another text to meet at the lacrosse field where the team was just starting their warm ups.

"Oh thank God you found him."

He was both relieved and greatly shocked, when he came running over. Liam was sitting contently on Brett's shoulder's, while the other teen had his hands secured on Liam's tiny ankles. Brett didn't look like he minded a bit even seemed amused.

"Yeah, I found him hiding under the bleachers behind a trash can."

Liam beamed, noticing the arrival of his only other friend. "Look Mase we're tall!"

At that Brett and Mason couldn't help laughing. "You sure are buddy. But what did I say about making sure to stay where I could see you?"

Liam lost his smile and dropped his head. "Got scared." He mumbled quietly. "Someone was pulling me. Didn't want to go."

Brett's face was fairly stoic, but his eyes looked slightly angry at hearing that. Mason wished he knew who that was to properly chew them out, but he doubted he'd ever find out and Liam was supposed to change back tonight. So instead he patted Liam's light up Buzz Light-year shoes that Mrs McCall had bought for him and comforted. "It's okay buddy if that ever happens again just kick them and yell for me okay? Though I'm probably not going to let you out of my sight for the rest of the day."

"Has anyone seen Dunbar?!" Coach Finnstock shouted eyes searching though the players before swiveling around and settling on Mason. "You! I've seen you with him. Do you know where Liam Dunbar is?"

"Hey, that's my name." Liam whispered quietly to Brett. Brett hid a laugh before whispering back. "Right but it's a secret we can't tell the coach or we won't be able to get ice cream later."

"Okay!"

"Uh no coach haven't seen him. Maybe he's sick or something?" Mason inwardly closed his eyes, resolving that he'd need better excuses for authority figures. He couldn't just keep using the same one over and over again.

"Or he's skipping practice. If you see him you tell him he owes me at least 20 suicide runs to make up for this." He then turned back to the rest of the team. "Alright! Let's go pick up the pace you pathetic flowers. Greenberg! What the hell are you doing? Did I say we're taking a water break right now? I didn't think so. Go take a lap."

"Your coach is...interesting." Brett replied, watching Greenberg for a second before his attention was drawn to a slight tug on his curls.

"Can we get ice cream now?" Liam whispered causing more laughter and Mason's heart to melt. His best friend was too adorable like this.

"Sure, Liam."

"Yay!"

The three walked off the field before heading over to Brett's car. Brett gently set Liam down who wandered over to Mason's side waiting to get in. However Mason wanted to check with Brett first, as he was sure. This wasn't exactly what the other teen had in mind when just coming to help locate Liam.

"Sure you don't mind? If you have plans or something, I can get us another ride."

"Nah, I don't mind. Besides this is probably the only time I'll ever see him like this, and where we get along."

"You're not going to use this as some sort of ammunition against him right?" Taking hold of Liam's hand without looking away from Brett as Liam had begun to wander off again.

"No. I'm trying to be better than I used to be."

"Good." With a decisive nod. "Okay Liam. Let's get you buckled up and then we can go get some ice cream before heading back to Corey's house which reminds me I should text him that we found you." Mason trailed off in a mumble keeping his boyfriend up to date on everything that had happened. Once he finished the text he found Liam gone and already buckled in the car babbling to Brett about Buzz Light-year. He slid into the passenger seat of the car to listen.

"And when he goes to space he says 'To infamy and beyond!"

Brett was trying to hold back his laughter, as he responded. "I think you mean Infinity Liam."

"That's what I said, Infamy."

Mason snorted before nudging the blonde. "How are you so good with kids, and how did you get him to trust you?" Talking in a lower register to avoid being heard.

"Well I have a sister and right now Liam really reminds me of her. So I guess when I found her, those instincts just kinda kicked in."

He actually shot a soft smile at the tiny toddler in the back seat.

'Huh' Mason thought. 'Will wonders never cease.'

"So how'd that happen anyways?"

"Some sort of ancient druid potion. Thank God the effects are temporary or that would be a really long and awkward talk with Liam's parents."

"Do his parents know he's a werewolf?"

"Pretty sure Liam said he's going to avoid telling them as long as possible." Which Mason had his doubts about but hey it wasn't his call. He hadn't told his parents either all the things they got up to.

Brett seemed to have a similar thought process just shaking his head. "Good luck with that. Can't imagine what it's like to break the news to friends and family for bitten wolves who've known them before, when they were human."

"Does anyone know you're a werewolf besides Satomi's pack?"

Shrugging a bit, Brett responded. "Just you two and the rest of Scott's pack. I've never told anyone else."

Mason turned to look at him, his face belaying some concern. "Doesn't that get lonely? Keeping everyone else your friends at school at a distance?"

Finally pulling into the parking lot of the nearest parlor Brett replied unbothered. "I guess for a while I got myself under the assumption that werewolves were better than humans and I didn't really need any close friends. I've always had Lori and that was enough for me."

Casting a quick look at Liam before parking the car Brett admitted. "Things changed when Scott saved me and I realized I was wrong before."

"That's pretty cool." Giving Brett's shoulder a pat.

"We're here!"

"Yes we are buddy. Come on, what ice cream do you want?"

"Choco chip!"

After the three received their orders which Brett kindly paid for, Mason felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He felt his brows furrow at the latest text he received from Corey. After a few minutes of watching Mason stare down Brett probed with. "Problem?"

Mason didn't say anything, instead choosing to show him the text which read: SOS CODE BLUE at animal shelter. He looked down at Liam biting his lip trying to decide what to do.

"Go," Brett suggested, inclining his head. "Take my car and check it out. I'll stay here with Liam. Come back when you're done."

"I don't. I..."

"Go," He once more insisted softly. "We'll be fine, and it sounds like he could use your help."

Allowing himself to concede that Mason crouched low in front of Liam, so he could explain why he was leaving. "Hey Liam? I have to leave for a little bit. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long but in the meantime I need you to stay with Brett okay?"

Immediately Liam's eyes welled up with tears. "You Weaving?"

"Just for a little while! I'll be back as soon as I can. I promise you'll have fun with Brett in the meantime okay?"

"Okay," was the softest whisper he heard yet.

Giving his best friend a quick hug goodbye he left to go see what the 911 was about.

Liam didn't last two minutes before he was sobbing.

"Come here," Brett carefully picked him up, cradling him close and carding a hand through Liam's shaggy hair. "You've had a pretty rough day haven't you?" He asked after a few minutes between the de-aging, not remembering anything, and now one of the only people he slightly knows is abandoning him albeit not willingly. Brett was grateful for having Lori, because this was muscle memory for him. Without her he'd probably be floundering so bad holding his former rival.

"You know Liam when my sister was little. There was one thing that would always help her feel better. Do you know what that was?"

Liam, who had his head buried in Brett's neck, shook it slightly.

"We'd go to the park and swing on the swings as high as we could go, and we sometimes managed to get this high!" Holding his unused hand out. Liam peeked out to look. "What do you say? Do you want to go play at the park for a bit? I bet you could get even higher."

Nodding Liam admitted. "I good at the swings."

Brett smiled. "Well let's go. Do you want me to walk or for me to continue carrying you?"

Liam held on tighter. "No,"

Chuckling slightly. "Fair enough." It wasn't like he was heavy anyway even without his werewolf strength.

It was still throwing him a bit to see Liam so contrary to how he normally wasn't almost like a mirror opposite. Whereas the Liam he knew wasn't afraid to throw down with anyone who got on his bad side.

This Liam was very shy and caught him by surprise how much he was willing to cling especially to someone he didn't even know that well. When strangers got close cooing at what an adorable "brother" Brett had for which, he couldn't keep his amusement in for all the world. If only when thinking about how teenage Liam would react when hearing this and also the fact that it made toddler Liam hide behind his leg.

After about an hour and a half later and vigorous play and running Mason returned with the car telling him he'd text him details later. He seemed relieved that Liam was in better spirits then, when he had left him and got a kick when he asked him how was playing with Brett at the park.

"It was fun! Brett's sooooooo slow Mase. He couldn't catch me at all! He tried and tried but I was too fast for him!"

"Of course you were buddy." Mason replied with laughter somewhat clear in his voice. "Brett could never win against you. I told you before you could beat him and look you did!"

Brett rolled his eyes though in all honesty that conversation he overheard between Liam and Mason that day was hilarious. Especially since they didn't know at the time that he could hear everything.

"Let's just get you and speed racer here dropped off as I should probably be heading home soon."

Turning to Liam Mason agreed. "Alright Li let's get you buckled back up in the car so we can go meet Corey and a new friend named Deaton."

"Okay but then can we go back to the park?"

"Maybe...after that. We'll see."

"Okay!"

After dropping the two off the next day Brett got a text from Mason saying that Liam was 100% back to normal but was claimed to not remember anything and also a thanks for all his help. He smirked but just replied back no problem going about his day. After school he got another much less expected text.

Shortstack: So I heard we hung out yesterday

His phone: I believe the correct term is Babysitting

Shortstack: -_- U know I'm not above punching u right?

His phone: But the better question is can u reach?

Shortstack: ...you're infuriating but thanks

His phone: Anytime munchkin I got some great pictures btw the people at the park found u adorable 4 sum reason

Shortstack: 1. What? I'm not adorable. I'm 160 pounds of pure rage and 2. I guess I'm paying Lori to delete those

His phone: 1. Well yesterday u were 40 pounds of the exact opposite of that and 2. No need

With that sending the few he had taken yesterday of just Liam playing or demolishing his chocolate chip ice cream.

Shortstack: U caved quicker then I thought u would wait a sec... U didn't use me to pick people up right?

At that Brett couldn't help but laugh before responding.

Shortstack: Lol Dunbar please as if I need help doing that

Liam sent him the Robert Downey Jr eye roll gif, but still asked if they were on for some lacrosse practice next weekend. Brett responded of course and resisted the urge to poke at Liam one last time before tucking his phone away. He was unable to help one last smile, as he walked to his next class.
