Note: I recently found the show "Atypical" on Netflix, and I really love it. I love the chemistry between Casey and Sam but also how good Izzie is with Sam. So I wanted to write a story with the three of them. Please leave a comment on your thoughts about it. It was difficult for me to write Sam, but I hope you like it.

The Gardner house

Izzie is entering the Gardner house. Casey doesn't seem to be home, so Izzie will go upstairs to her room and wait for her, but she stops on the stairs when she sees Sam sitting in the living room. He is seated at the dining table, with his notebook in front of him. Many papers are lying on the table and even some on the floor, which is unusual for Sam. Izzie walks into the living room. She now notices Sam is pulling his hair out of his head which she has learned from Casey he does when he is anxious.

"Hi, Sam." Izzie Greets.

"Casey is not home," Sam says, sounding irritated and without looking at the new arrival to the house.

"I am aware. I will just wait for Casey." Izzie responds, not taking the irritated tone in his voice personally. "What are you working on?" she asks and walks over to him to see what he is doing.

"I am working on an art assignment, and it is due tomorrow, and I can't get it right, so I do not have time to talk with anyone." He says, irritated.

"Maybe…" Izzie says and sits down across from him at the table. "It will help you find the right way to do it if you talk about it with someone," Se suggests in a friendly tone with a smile to him when he finally looks up at her for the first time since her arrival.

"I doubt that. You don't know anything about art or Antarctica."

"True," Izzie admits. She then notices a drawing on the table of a little figure she has seen in Casey's room sometimes. "who is this guy?" Izzie asks, picking up the drawing.

"that is, little dude," Sam explains, irritated while he continues making some lines on a fresh piece of paper. Izzie notices the other drawings on the table. Some are finished, some are not, but they are about mountains of ice and penguins and oceans. Izzie assumes it is most likely Antarctica he is drawing.

"These are really good, Sam." Izzie compliments him with a smile.

"I know, but not for the assignment for tomorrow."

Izzie nods in understanding. "And what is the assignment about?"

Sam signs heavily and puts his pencil down.

"I don't think it will help me telling you, but since you are asking, and I don't have any ideas right now, I will tell you."

Izzie is trying not to laugh at Sam's way of speaking to her as she doesn't know what he is doing.

"It is an assignment where we have to draw a place in nature we would most want to go to. I would love to go to Antarctica, obviously." Sam explains. Izzie nods. "But we have to capture the different layers of perspective so that it gets a more dimensional perspective. But I can't get it correct. Antarctica is very white, and it is very difficult to capture perspectives in a landscape that is only one color."

"Why don't you use the little dude?" Izzie asks. Sam just looks utterly confused at her, like he has no clue what she is saying. So, Izzie explains to him. "I mean, the little dude is little, right?" Sam nods, still utterly confused. "So, he sees the world from a little dude's perspective. You are really good at drawing buildings in perspective, so why not use the little dude as being the one seeing the landscape and draw it from his perspective?" Sam suddenly seems to understand what she is saying.

"That is actually not a terrible idea." He compliments her in his own special Sam-like way. It makes Izzie smile when she sees how he suddenly seems completely renewed in his motivation and creative inspiration. He quickly grabs a fresh piece of paper and his pencil and gets to work immediately.

"are you and Casey in a relationship again?" Sam asks while he continues drawing.

"Yeah, I think so," Izzie says with a smile.

"if you are not sure, then make it is like a casual relationship?" Sam asks casually while he continues drawing.

"what do you mean by a casual relationship?" Izzie asks, a little confused.

"like you don't hold hands, not discussing feelings, but just making out sometimes," Sam explains very seriously without any hint of joking.

Izzie can't help but smile.

"no, it is definitely a regular relationship," Izzie confirms while she is trying to hide her amused smile.

"so you and Casey are like having sex?" Sam asks and finally looks up from his drawing. Izzie looks completely surprised at the sudden and blunt question from her girlfriend's brother.

"hmm…"
"that is a very important part of my relationship with my girlfriend, Paige."

Izzie doesn't know what to say. She is saved by the door being opened and Casey stepping in.

"oh, hey. Izzie, I didn't know you were coming over today." Casey says, surprised. Izzie happily catches the unexpected but very welcomed distraction from Sam's questions.

"I was supposed to go home, but I changed my mind," Izzie respond with a smile to Casey, and Casey nod. She understands what Izzie is saying. The two girls are sharing a loving glance that is abruptly interrupted by Sam.

"so, are you having sex? Otherwise, it is just a casual relationship." Sam explains.

"Dude, what the hell," Casey says, shocked about her brother's blunt question. Sam seems confused about Casey's reaction since he wasn't asking her.

"I was just asking your girlfriend a question," Sam answers, confused.

"Why are you even here? Can't you be at your own apartment?" Casey asks as she drags Izzie by the hand up the stairs to her room.

Casey's room

Izzie and Casey walk into Casey's room, and Casey slams the door behind them. She then drops her backpack on the floor and takes a hand to her face in empressement.

"I am so sorry about that. Sam can be so weird and awkward sometimes." Casey says, almost too embarrassed to look at Izzie.

"It is alright," Izzie says, and they both laugh nervously. They sit down on the bed next to each other. "he is a nice guy. I like him." Izzie says once Casey seems to have overcome the embarrassment enough to let Izzie hold her hand.

"yeah, he is but sometimes…."
"It is okay." Izzie interrupts and places a soft hand on Casey's cheek. They look into each other's eyes.

"I love you," Izzie whisper to Casey right before she leans in and kisses her.

"I love you too," Casey responds once they break the kiss. They both smile nervously before they close the space between them again in another tender kiss. They lay down on the bed while they continue kissing. Until the door leading to the shared bathroom with Sam is abruptly opened. Sam is standing in the middle of the room.

"I finished." He declares until he realizes what is going on in front of him.

"Dude, what the hell?" Casey echoes herself from earlier.

"you are definitely not just a casual relationship," Sam concludes for himself. The two girls have sat up on the bed. There is an awkward silence in the room for a moment until Izzie notices the drawing Sam is holding in his hands.

"nice drawing Sam. You finished?" Izzie asks to break the awkward silence.

"were you going to have sex?" Sam asks very direct. "if you were, you should put a sock on the door handle, so I know not to walk in." Izzie awkwardly giggles while Casey is so embarrassed about him. "it is a dorm thing. Paige and I did it when we first…."

"GET OUT!" Casey yells and throws a pillow after Sam. Sam quickly leaves the room again. Casey gets up and closes the door. She places her hand on her face again in embarrassment.

"I swear sometimes… I wish Sam was living on Antarctica." Casey says. Both girls start laughing.

"so…" Izzie says and adjusts herself to turning more towards Case as Casey sits down on the bed again. "are we in a casual or a regular relationship?" Izzie asks, repeating Sam's question, which makes both the girls laugh out loud. "and…." Izzie says, trying to compose herself from laughing. "were we going to have sex?" she asks, trying to imitate Sam's wondering look when he realized what they were doing.

"shut up," Casey says, pushing Izzie playfully on the shoulder while they both start laughing.
