Baby Bechloe, teenage Bechloe, mom-life Bechloe. Across 2 decades Beca and Chloe have always been made for each other.

First Meeting

Age: 6

Chloe and her mother had a bi-weekly trip to Chloe's favorite park. Her mom was more than willing to give her exposure to the outdoors and help her rambunctious six year old wear off as much energy as possible. There was hardly a trip to the park that went by without Chloe making a new friend, be it human or animal. It made her mother's trips a little less relaxing, having to keep an eye on her daughter who didn't seem to have a shy bone in her body.

Beca hated going to the park. She knew her nanny only took her because she was uncomfortable around her alone in their big house while her parents were away. She wasn't necessarily an unpleasant child, but she was introverted to the extreme. And being outside, around other people, other children yelling and running? It was not little Beca's idea of a fun outing.

But her nanny promised her ice cream if she behaved herself at the park for one hour. She could do it. For ice cream.

Beca held tightly in her little right hand as many pebbles from the playground it could hold, while her left lined them up one by one in a smooth patch of grass she found away from the commotion of the swings and slides and other things most children loved.

Chloe spotted the girl around her age she hadn't seen at this particular park before. And as was in her nature, she couldn't resist going over to say hi and maybe convince the other girl to play some sort of game or go on an adventure.

"Hi!" Chloe, needing no invitation, plopped herself down right beside Beca, making the quiet girl flinch and drop all her pebbles.

Instead of responding, Beca just huffed in annoyance as she picked up the scattered pebbles. Chloe just watched her curiously.

"Whatcha doin?" Chloe watched as Beca continued her seemingly important task of lining up all the pebbles.

No response.

"It looks fun." Chloe rose up to sit on her knees to watch her potential new friend.

Still no response.

Even at a young age, Chloe seemed to like a challenge. And for the few people that chose to not instantly love her, she made it her mission to make them at least like her. So she stared hard at the other young girl, coming up with a plan.

"My name's Chloe. What's yours?"

Silence.

"Maybe I'll just call you Pebbles. That's my favorite flintstone character anyway." Chloe beamed.

"Don't call me Pebbles." Beca's first words spoken to Chloe. They were spoken in a harsh tone in addition to a short glare, before Beca returned her attention to her task. It might have seemed negative, but Chloe was taking it as a win.

"But if you don't tell me your name-"

"Beca." Beca responded curtly, not glancing up to see the smile widening on Chloe's face.

"It is a pleasure to meet your...ah...a cane tess, Beca." Chloe sat up straight, spoke with a serious tone, and nodded her head politely at Beca. "My mom tells me that's the polite way of meeting someone, but I think it sounds silly." She couldn't keep up the act and just giggled as she made herself more comfortable on the grass.

Beca gave her a sidelong glance, her lips curving into not quite a smirk, but not completely a frown either.

Chloe watched her in silence for a few minutes, Beca not seeming bothered. She broke the silence with what she realized she should've started with.

"Do you like ducks?!" She asked, startling Beca yet again.

But Beca didn't huff and grumble this time. She looked shyly up at Chloe, like she was nervous to speak.

"Ducks?"

"Yeah! I feed them every time I come to the park. It's my favorite thing!"

"Oh." Beca nodded, clearly intrigued, but not willing to give in just yet. Chloe watched her for a moment before jumping to her feet.

"I'll share the rice my mommy gave me with you if you want to come feed them with me." She pulled a small baggie out of the pocket of her denim overalls. Beca paused, looking at the bag, before somewhat regretfully returning her attention to the pebbles.

"Okay." Chloe shrugged and put the baggie back in her pocket. "I'm going to go feed them. I hope you have fun with the pebbles."

Beca looked up once she saw Chloe walking. She loved animals. And the thought of feeding the ducks sounded more exciting than any activity anyone had suggested to her in awhile. Besides getting ice cream.

"Hey!" Beca dropped her pebbles and pushed herself to her feet. "Wait for me!"

Chloe, with a victorious smile on her face, slowed her pace and happily waited for Beca to catch up.

First Kiss

Age: 16

"I'm sorry you and Jack broke up." Beca said after a long moment of silence between her and Chloe as they walked their bikes through their favorite park.

"I'm not." Chloe shrugged, no hint of bitterness or hurt in her voice. It was apathetic if anything. Beca glanced over at her, confused.

"You're not? You dated for like 6 months."

"We were more friends than anything." Chloe grinned. She could count the number of times she and Jack kissed on one hand during the whole time they dated. And there were certainly never any sparks.

"Well, is there another guy you like?" Beca questioned, keeping her attention on her bike handles.

"No. I'm…" Chloe paused, looking at Beca's profile, feeling mild anxiety she rarely felt in Beca's presence. "I'm actually...not into guys?" She raised her eyebrows, silently questioning if Beca was okay with that.

"Oh." Beca nodded. "Oh!" It seemed to register a couple seconds late. "Well, is there a girl you're into?"

"Actually, yeah." Chloe finally stopped walking, and kicked the stand out to prop her bike up. Beca stopped too, still holding onto hers.

"Do I know her?"

"Pretty well actually." Chloe let out a small giggle as she pushed her hair behind her ears.

"Who is it?"

"Maybe this…" Chloe stepped forward, reaching out to gently place her hands on Beca's cheeks. "Will answer your question." She whispered before leaning in and brushing her lips against Beca's. She tilted her head slightly to kiss Beca more firmly, stroking her thumbs against Beca's jawline. She couldn't help but smile when she felt Beca's hands nervously settle at her waist and heard her bike clang against the ground.

After a few moments, Chloe finally pulled back, making Beca stumble forward. Chloe bit her lip, failing to hide the shy smile.

And in a moment, that gave Beca whiplash, Chloe was giggling and jumping on her bike.

Beca, still reeling from the kiss and making an attempt to process, stood dumbstruck as Chloe pedalled slowly.

"Hey!" Beca came out of her trance and saw Chloe a little ways ahead. She struggled to yank her bike up from the ground. "Dude! Wait for me!"

First Kid

Age: 26

"Okay, you have his food, his blankie, Mr. Bunny, a couple toys, diapers, his-" Beca was rambling off all the items in baby Trevor's tote bag when Chloe interrupted her with a hand on her arm.

"Becs, she's got it." Chloe grinned at her mom, holding their one year old. "He's probably gonna go to sleep soon anyway."

"Okay." Beca couldn't hide her trepidation at leaving her son for the first time overnight. She set the bag down and gave him a kiss as he wiggled in his grandma's arms. "I love you, buddy."

Trevor gurgled and swung his hands toward Beca before squawking out, "Mama!"

"I don't know, Chloe." Beca whined and turned to her wife, clearly already having separation anxiety.

"Baby, it's fine. He knows my parents, he's comfortable here. It'll be fine. We need to let him learn to stay with other people."

"Go on, you two." Mrs. Beale gave Beca a little kick, motioning toward the door. "And I don't want to see you here before 10am tomorrow."

"Thanks, Mom." Chloe pulled Beca out the door before leaning in to kiss Trevor on the head. "But please call us if anything happens. I mean anything."

"I will, I will." Mrs. Beale shooed them again. "Enjoy your date night!"

"I miss him already." Beca pouted, dragging her feet away from the door.

"I do too, love, but he's in great hands. And we deserve a night out. Just the two of us." She kissed the pout off Beca's lips before taking her hand to lead her to the street where their cab was waiting.

They were able to get past missing their baby and thoroughly enjoyed date night. (After Mrs. Beale threatened to keep him another night if they called again.) They went to the nicest restaurant they could find within a ten mile radius from Chloe's parents. And they went all out. Appetizers, most expensive entrees, not one but two bottles of their best wine, and as Beca so eloquently put it, "the most fancy ass dessert ever."

It had been awhile since they'd consumed more than a glass of alcohol since Trevor was born, so to say they were a bit tipsy was an understatement. Their cab driver was a good sport with their antics as he dropped them off at the park.

"Do you ladies want me to wait for you?" He asked as they struggled to slide out of the vehicle.

"Would you mind waiting maybe ten minutes?" Chloe asked as she swayed on her feet. "We just wanted a little stroll down memory lane."

"Sure thing. I can pause the meter."

"What's your name, dude. We'll name our second kid after you." Beca swayed in front of Chloe, peeking in the window.

"I'm Andrew."

"Oh my God, little Andie if its a girl. That would be cute!" Beca whipped her head to face Chloe with excited eyes.

"Slow your roll, baby maker." Chloe giggled as she tugged on Beca's arm.

"I'm not sure you'll even remember." Andrew laughed good naturedly. "Go take your stroll, I'll be right here."

They walked through the dimly lit park, passed the swings and playground they once played on as kids. There was a new water area with fountains for kids to run through that Chloe still had a grudge about not being there when she was a child.

The pond was still and peaceful, reflecting the moon. Chloe smiled to herself as she thought of all the times she came to this spot to feed the ducks. Including the time she met Beca.

"Do you remember the day we met?" Chloe stopped and rested her head against Beca's shoulder.

"How could I forget?"

"You were so, so very grumpy for a little six year old." Chloe laughed, remembering the glare Beca gave her when she first interrupted her playtime.

"And you were the most persistent six year old in the history of children."

They walked by the pond, hand in hand for a moment, sharing soft smiles. Chloe couldn't wait to walk like this with Trevor, teaching him to feed the ducks.

"I wonder if Trevor will meet his future spouse here." Chloe mused.

"If they're half as tenacious as you, he just might."

"Maybe he'll be the tenacious one."

"He's got you for a mom, he probably will be." Beca flinched through her laughter as Chloe pinched her in the ribs.

"We had our first kiss over there." Chloe nodded as she started leading Beca over to the sidewalk that was once a dirt path.

"You always were the aggressor in our relationship." Beca smirked, dodging another pinch. Chloe moved them into position, clearly preparing to recreate the moment.

"You were so cute." Chloe held Beca's hands in hers. "And so clueless."

"I was not." Beca just rolled her eyes, not having any better argument.

"Just a little." Chloe's smile softened as she stroked her thumbs over Beca's knuckles.

"Kiss me." Beca's voice was hardly above a whisper, but Chloe would've done it with or without the request.

This kiss wasn't quite as chaste as the first one they shared as teenagers. Feeling loose from all the alcohol in their systems, a simple kiss quickly turned into a heated borderline make-out session.

Beca's hands made their way around Chloe's hips to slide up her shirt, tracing the muscles of her stomach.

"You didn't used to be that bold." Chloe held Beca's wrists with a pleased grin on her face. But she didn't want to escalate the kiss too far, being in a children's park and all. "Wanna head home?"

"Yeah." Beca smiled back the goofy smile of someone a little drunk and very much in love.

They made it home and gave their cab driver a generous tip. Beca immediately chucked off her shoes and stumbled to the couch to plop down in exhaustion. Chloe slowly took off her jacket and hung up her purse as she watched her wife sprawl over their couch in the least flattering way possible. But she was still adorable.

"I could fall asleep right here. No joke. I'm so fucking tired." Beca mumbled into one of the couch cushions. Chloe let out a fond giggle. If there was one thing that could enter the top five things Beca loved besides her family, it would be sleep.

"Remember when we first moved into this house?" Chloe said quietly, helping Beca into a sitting position.

"Oh yeah." Beca's sleepy smile turned into a smirk. "We christened the shit outta this place."

"Yeah, we did." Chloe easily slid onto Beca's lap and draped her arms around her neck. Beca's arms instinctually wrapped around Chloe's waist as she tilted her neck up to receive a lingering kiss from her wife.

"I was sort of hoping we could recreate one or two of those memories." Chloe whispered against Beca's lips. She shrugged one shoulder, with an over exaggerated pout. "But if you need to sleep, that's okay. Maybe I can recreate them by myself upstairs." She slid off Beca's lap with a wicked smirk on her lips. "Maybe I'll recreate them in our nice, big jacuzzi tub. Naked...and wet."

Beca's eyes had gone dark as she watched incredulously as Chloe backed away with a walk that was unfairly seductive.

"Sweet dreams, baby." Chloe winked before turning around to walk up the stairs.

Beca still sat, dumbstruck, as Chloe was halfway upstairs. She walked slowly with an extra sway in her hips she knew drove Beca mad. Beca's short-circuited brain finally rebooted and she pushed herself up to her feet.

"Hell no, you better wait for me!"

And Chloe let out a delighted squeal as she started running the last few steps when Beca chased after her.
