prompt: Kiyotaka is alone in the rain because they forgot to bring an umbrella, Kyoko offers to share theirs.

Shoot, Kiyotaka Thought. shoot, shoot, shoot . He had been walking to school when it suddenly started raining. Being a person of high morals, he didn't want his suit to get wet. So he ran under cover to avoid that. It was shameful, he thought. How could he have forgotten? Now he was faced with a dilemma. Should he be late or should he go to class with a wet uniform? Before he could decide, a person walked up to him with a confused look on their face

"Taka?" She said it was Kyoko, his classmate. "What are you doing here?" She was holding an umbrella.

"I'm here debating on if I should go to class with a wet uniform." He said.

"You could just walk with me." She says. "I don't mind. Kiyotaka runs under her umbrella.

"Thank you Kyoko!" He says while bowing. Kyoko nods and they walk off. Kiyotaka looks at Kyoko, her face void of any emotions. It was gonna be a while before they got there, so he thought he should at least chat with her.

But the problem with that became clear, he didn't know how to talk to her. The girl was very stoic and rarely talked to anyone. He wondered what to say to her. Without thinking, Kiyotaka blurts out: "You've been doing your homework, right Kyoko? It would be terrible for a student to miss out on their studies!"

Kyoko looks at him. "Yes I have." She says curtly before looking away. Shoot, he messed that up badly. Now she might hate him! What could he say to fix the situation? Maybe talk about something simple to ease her into things.

"So…..how's school?"

"It's fine." She says

"Oh. Well mine's been great! I'm learning so much from Hope's Peak Academy!"

"Me too."

This was difficult. She isn't engaged at all. What to do? Then, he got an idea.

"How's detective work going?"

She looks at him with a glare. "Why do you want to know? What do you plan to do with this information?"

"U-um, I just wanted to know about your work. That's all!"

"I see. I apologize. You can never be too careful." So she doesn't trust him yet. That's fair, they did just meet not long ago.

"I am currently investigating the murder of two women last found in a hair salon. It was a pretty gruesome crime. One's head was almost completely decapitated."

Kiyotaka pales. "O-oh my!"

"One interesting thing I noted was there were hairs that belonged to an orangutan at the scene."

"That's unusual!"

"Yes it is." Kyoko went on more about the case. As sickening as it was to hear, Kiyotaka noticed that Kyoko was much more open to him.

"Kyoko," He says. "Being a detective means a lot to do doesn't it?"

"Of course," She says. "It is my life. I was born as one after all."

"I see." Kyoko must be another genius then. But he couldn't bring himself to hate her. He saw the passion in her eyes when she spoke. She was a person like him.

"Taka?" She asks, looking at him. " I know what you've doing. You wanted me to open up to you, right?"

"GGH! U-um well I-"

"It's ok, I'm not upset. I'm sorry if I came across as distant. That wasn't my intention. I have trouble interacting with others."

"Well me too!" Kiyotaka says. "I've been struggling this whole time! I thought I was messing up badly before, but I guess I did not.

"Kyoko chuckles "I guess we're more alike than I thought." She said, "I admit, this was not so bad. You wouldn't mind talking more, would you?"

"Of course not!" He says. "Our interaction has been great so far." And so they did. They talked about a lot of things, like pastimes and favorite foods. Eventually, they got to school. Both students walked their separate ways. Kiyotaka was happy. He felt like he was finally making friends at this academy.
