Disclaimer: I do not own Sofia The First

A/N: A day late, but here's my first story for stfshipappreciationweek. Sunday's prompt: Music/Great Performance, Ship: Cedvian. hope you like :)

"This is so exciting!" Sofia gushed to her companion as the coach flew onward through the clear skies. "I can't wait for Vivian's performance."

Cedric nodded in agreement. He'd been a little surprised when the princess had asked him to attend with her. Not so much at the thought that Sofia had done so in the first place; as she seemed to be inviting him to join her on little outings more often as she'd grown, but that Princess Vivian had apparently personally requested if she would bring him as her plus one. Sofia even showing him the little note that had come with her ticket as proof.

His mind turned to the Zumarian princess as they travelled forth. Recalling memories of tutoring her and Sofia in magic per the other girl's request. She had been a shy, but pleasant girl, who often required encouragement with her magic. In a way, she reminded him of himself when he was her age; and as such, he felt more compassionate towards, and inclined to help her with her studies.

Of course, once they'd graduated Royal Prep, those magic lessons had ceased; and while her and Sofia still kept it touch, Cedric himself had seen very little of the shy princess...

The coached pulled in front of the Performing Arts Academy, conveniently located in Vivian's own Zumaria, just as the sun was starting to set for the evening performance. An end of semester event, where the best students would display shows of their chosen art.

Presenting their ticket, they were ushered inside the large theater, and quickly took their place among the audience.

Performing Arts Academy, as it's name suggested, specialized in well, performing arts; and as such the school was host to a wide variety of classes in stage productions. Ballet, orchestra, theatre and everything in between could be learned and perfected here. And tonight it's students took this opportunity to show case their talents in nearly every form imaginable.

It was... incredibly boring for Cedric. Who was only prevented from falling asleep throughout the whole affair thanks to Sofia. Who kept directing him to the her friends, in varying performances.

"Oh look, there's Clio!" Sofia whispered to him at some point. Watching as a princess who had taken her place at the stage begun singing a beautiful solo.

'Ah yes, one of Amber's close friends.' he thought. A bit surprised that he actually remembered. But he supposed that trio did leave an impression.

She finished her song and gave a bow, which was met by applause. Before exiting the stage as the Headmistress announced. "Now presenting, Princess Vivian with her performance of magical music on the mandolin."

'Magical music?' Cedric's head tilted curiously. Now recalling Sofia having mentioned something about that to him years ago.

The aforementioned princess squeezed his hand excitedly as her friend walked onto the stage and gave a bow. The murmur of the crowd silencing in anticipation.

At the very moment her fingers strummed the first note. A wave of magic flowed out. Producing images of colored light in the shape magical creatures. Which danced off into the crowd, much to the delight of the audience. Another spell filled the stage with flowers, and yet another produced a shimmering rainbow. Each delightful visual matching perfectly with the music that flowed skillfully from the mandolin player.

Sofia's eyes were alight with wonder, excitedly leaning forward in her seat, at her friend's performance and the beautiful images she conjured

Cedric however, just sat there with his mouth hung open in awe. His eyes trained on the lovely young woman who was at the source of these magical wonders.

Finally Vivian's performance came to a close, and she was met with thunderous applause as she bowed. Sofia the most enthusiastic of them all.

Cedric clapped slowly at first, his mind still in shock, but quickly picked up the pace. Rising from his seat and matching his princess's energy with their cheers.

A couple more performances followed, after which the students all gave their final bow; and the headmistress advised everyone to retire to the ballroom for the after party.

"Vivian!"

The dark haired girl turned at her name being called. Eyes brightening at the sight of her best friend rushing towards her.

"Sofia!" she cried, as they fell into one another's arms, embracing each other affectionately.

They pulled back, but still kept a hold of each other's hands. Their fingers intertwined. "You were absolutely amazing, Vivian!"

A blush alighted her friend's cheeks "Thanks..." she said softly, "I'm so glad you were able to make it."

"Of course! I wouldn't have missed it for anything" squeezing her hands in assurance.

Vivian smiled. Heart alighting with that familiar comforting warmth as she gazed into the other girl's eyes. Until her vision caught hold of someone else. The awed look on her face confusing Sofia, until she looked behind, and then with a knowing smile, stepped aside to reveal her sorcerer, adding "And someone else was able to come see you too."

"M...Mr. Cedric.." Vivian gasped.

He bowed, "A pleasure to see you again, Princess Vivian. You've certainly grown into a fine young lady."

She blushed with demure delight at the words. Butterflies storming in her stomach at that familiar smile.

He'd really come!

The shy princess had never forgotten that day the sorcerer had substituted for their class. A day wrought with chaos, but one she remembered fondly. For it was on that occasion that he had taught her the sorcerer's secret, and for the first time, she had learned to find confidence in magic.

The art still wasn't her strong suit unfortunately. But at Sofia's suggestion, she had agreed to come to her castle for some extra magic tutoring. Which had led to many a day with her, Sofia, and Cedric in the workshop. Practicing for an upcoming sorcery test, or just trying to hone their skills in general. Moments that sometimes made her feel inadequate when she witnessed how quickly Sofia mastered spells in comparison to herself. But that was always soon assuaged by Cedric's encouragement.

It was in this that environment that her crush on the man had begun to take root; and it had continued to bloom quietly. Even after graduating RPA, and ceasing the magic lessons...

She was brought, out of her thoughts when Sofia placed a hand on her shoulder. Gesturing to a section of the room where some of her classmates were gathered together chatting.

"I'm going to go visit with Clio for a little bit," she announced. "I'll be right back."

Vivian and Cedric nodded. Watching as the Enchancian princess set off to greet her other friend. Leaving them alone.

"Um..." Vivian started after a moment of silence. "I'm really glad you came."

"As am I!" he returned with an excited smile. "Your performance was absolutely magnificent!" Arms raised high as if to enunciate the fact. "I've never seen such a wonderful display of magical music before! Nothing at all like that half baked Von Rocha." he added with a sneer and folded arms. Making Vivian giggle.

"You know, a part of me is a little surprised I am so good at magical music," her expression changing ever so slightly to a more pensive look.

His brow furrowed "What do you mean?..."

"Well... I've always done pretty well with music. But magic..." now frowning at the thought "it's just not something I've ever been good at. Not like Sofia..." the smallest twinge of jealousy, accompanied by guilt, marring her mood as she thought of her friend. "I mean, I was able to get by well enough at Royal Prep thanks to the both of you... But I never really had any talent for it..."

To her surprise, the sorcerer shook his head. "You've always had great potential for magic, Vivian," he stated simply.

Green eyes regarded him curiously, "Really?..."

He nodded, "Oh yes! If what you did on that stage is any indication, I'd say that you're absolutely brimming with magical talent!"

Her heart fluttered at the compliment, finding herself unable to meet his gaze for a moment.

"You only needed the right outlet for it, and..." his soft smile warming her from head to toe "I believe you've found it."

She returned the sentiment, giving him a knowing look, before adding. "Well, having such a great teacher sure helped."

"Yes, well," he cleared his throat, blushing lightly. "That too."

"Hey guys!"

The moment was interrupted as Sofia returned to their company. Offering some punch she'd picked up for them, and her usual warm smile. "Everything alright?"

"We're fine, thank you, Sofia," Cedric assured. Taking the offered drink and sipping from it. "I was merely complimenting Vivian on her performance."

"And I was just saying what a great sorcery teacher Mr. Cedric is." Vivian added.

Sofia beamed, nodding in agreement, "He's the best sorcery teacher!" Giving him an adoring smile.

Cedric blushed again at the compliment, looking away.

The music shifted, prompting Sofia to ask "Would you dance with me, Mr. Cedric?"

"Yes, yes, of course Sofia," having expected her to ask him, as she always did lately. "But first," setting his beverage aside. "I'd like to request a dance from the lady of the hour." Offering his hand to Vivian with a bow.

She gasped softly. Taken aback, but delighted by the request; and after receiving an encouraging nod from her friend, placed her hand gently in his. "I'd love too." Feeling lighter than air as he lead her onto the dance floor, and pulled her in close. Swaying blissfully to what would now be one of her favorite songs.

A/N: I threw in a little cedfia in this story too (because of course I did, lol), and a dash of sovian. Honestly I wouldn't mind all three of them together as an OT3. However my main goal with this fic was for some cute, fluffy, teacher crush cedvian; and I hope I delivered well enough :).
