(Part 8)
It has been six months since the huge battle that took place in Republic City, and the damages are still being repaired. With the Republic City Police so thinned out due to being attacked so many times, the United Forces have left troops to help patrol the streets and regain order. The leader of the Triple Threat Triads was sentenced to one hundred and fifty years in prison on charges of terrorism, treason, attacking federal buildings, rebellion, and multiple counts of murder. He was granted no chance of parole.
Kali was immediately taken to the Fire Nation to stand trial. Her charges were aiding a terrorist group, murder in first multiple counts, treason, and aiding a coup de tat. When asked where the rest of her associates are and her mother, she spat in prosecutor's face. Three weeks later her sentence was carried out and she was beheaded for her crimes. A hooded and cloaked woman says to a man "Mother will be so upset. But at least that failure got us the Intel like she promised..." The man nods and the two vanish as the cheering stops.
Meanwhile, Sarah looks at Ciri suspiciously and finally asks "What you hiding, sparky?" Saying a nickname that she knows will get a reaction from Ciri. Ciri growls but just smiles "Oh nothing sweetie. Just a little nauseous lately..." Sarah laughs and then says "Yeah like the last three months. Just because I'm an Airbender does not mean I have a head full of clouds. How long?"
Ciri goes pale and looks outside, but cannot find an excuse. Sarah laughs and hugs her "May the spirits bless you, Rin, and your baby. So, be honest, how long?" Ciri gulps and says "I had my last period just before the battle with the Triads." SLAP! Ciri is slapped hard and looks at Sarah with a hurt expression. Sarah then says "You mean you went into a life or death situation thinking you might be PREGNANT?!"
Ciri shrugs and sighs as, since the secret is out, she undoes a belt and removes a soft pillow. "There. Barely a bulge. If I was knocked up at the battle, I was barely touched. Except by that Firebender, I had to use a lot of power against. But yes I'm pregnant and yes you can be the Godmother." Sarah squeals and hugs her before letting go, upon seeing Rin.
Rin drinks a soda and burps into his elbow "Excuse me. But couldn't help overhearing the little chit chat." He kisses Ciri and glares at Sarah "Don't slap her again." Rin looks outside and sees Jaron sitting under a tree "Still upset he had to break his oath?" Both women nod and Rin says "Go to him, Sarah, and cheer him up. It was war, forbidden technique or not, it saved his hide and who knows how many other lives."
Sarah walks to Jaron and sits down with him, smiling and talking slowly. Ciri and Rin lay on the couch and Ciri pulls her shirt up just below her breasts, and Rin rubs her stomach gently. Ciri bites her lip as she raises her shirt little by little, but drops it at a very familiar scream. "Sarah!" Ciri shouts and runs to the window.
Sarah and Jaron are surrounded by United Forces, and are both face down in the dirt. Suddenly, very loud bangs on their door and dents appear "Metalbenders! Damn. Why we being attacked all of a sudden?! We fought AGAINST the bad guys." He opens a secret passage and makes Ciri go down first. "I'll be right behind you, I promise."
He quickly grabs two grenade like cannisters and throws one out. It releases a foul smelling gas and the forces rush to escape it. Rush right into a BANG and FLASH. As their immediately blinded and defended. Rin escapes down the tunnel and seals it, using his seismic sense to find Ciri. When reunited, they keep running.
Ciri looks back for their friends, but she knows the rule: Anyone left behind, stays behind. Ciri starts to cry.
Sarah and Jaron are taken into custody, their fates uncertain.
