Eleanor'See you soon' , she had written him.
Eleanor felt embarrassed and ashamed that it took her a year to finally have something to say.
She never wanted Park to feel like a pin pal because they were more. Park was everything to Eleanor.
Did Eleanor love Park? Yes, kinda she needed him.
Her mom, brothers, and sister had all stayed with their uncle until they got back on their feet. Eleanor had stayed to live with them even after. They liked Eleanor and had even asked her to stay.
For awhile Eleanor thought she would be grasping at straws if she had read any of Park's letters but prom came around at her school and it reminded her of their promise.
She stayed back that night, knowing she wasn't going to enjoy herself.
Instead without thinking about it she started ripping open Park's letters.
She cried with each word read.
She didn't know that she could miss him more than she already had but sitting in her room, listening to the tapes he had made for her, she felt she had to do something or write something for him.
What Park did for her, she would never forget and without thinking about it she left.
Park'See you soon' , Park kept re-reading the words she written him.
It didn't feel real. She hadn't written him once and now 'see you soon'.
Park felt many things in the moments leading up to Eleanor.
He felt betrayed that he had written her so many letters and that she didn't write not even once to just tell him how she was doing. He felt excited to see her again.
What would she look like?
Would she be different?
Would he be able to recognize her?
Would she be able to recognize him?
Park was a bundle of nerves.
EleanorShe told her uncle and aunt that she was leaving back to Omaha.
They were concerned at first with good reasoning, she didn't even consider that Richie might still live there. She had been so focused on Park that her mind didn't have any room for anything else.
She told them that she she would be careful and that she would call when she made it safely.
She took the bus and thought about Park the whole way.
What if he didn't like her anymore?
He was probably mad.
Eleanor started feeling bad about seeing Park. What right did she have? What if he had moved on? That was the one that scared her.
Park was good looking and he had stopped sending letters. She wasn't going to think about it.
She finally arrived. Everything was still the same, which didn't surprise her.
She walked past the Elementary school where her and Park read Watchmen through the park where she saw him playing basketball. She saw the house that tortured her memories. The truck wasn't there at the moment. If he were still living here he would be working at the Rail right now.
She picked up a rock and resisted the urge to throw it at a window.
"It doesn't help", a familiar voice said behind her.
She turned to see it was Park or at least she thought it was. He looked different.
He still wore eyeliner but it looked like smudges under his eyes, like he didn't get enough sleep.
ParkHe waited for her, wondering when she would get here and how.
He went for a walk and he couldn't believe it when he saw her there.
Hair still bright and curly.
She looked familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
Her clothes seemed to have matched better, she looked older and taller, which was embarrassing because he hadn't grown an inch.
"It doesn't help", he said trying to sound cool.
Eleanor"Park?" she said when she saw him.
She couldn't help herself, she hugged him.
He looked different but he definitely didn't feel different.
she was glad.
