In the real world, a boy of 14 named Ashio Linker was playing with his Nintendo Switch until his mom came in and told him to go to bed and so he told off his Switch and gone to sleep.
Meanwhile, in the World of Ninteldus, a businessman begins with his meeting on how to take control of Ninteldus and said, "This is the mark of our greatest comeback, we must destroy their very energy source, the Lifelight"
Then he sent his Master Hands to destroy the Lifelight, the Great Wizard of Ninteldus, Merlock send his royal army to defend the cornerstone of the world of worlds.
As they tried to hold off the Master Hands only for Merlock to fend them off with his lightning spell, the businessman known as Kabutop appears.
"Kabutop, you corporate despot," said Merlock, "destroying the Lifelight will only bring back the dark forces."
"Yeah, normally those dark forces are just free masterless puppets for anyone to control," said Kabutop, "I will just you."
Then Kabutop fires an bow-less magical arrow straight out the Lifelight and broke it, freeing the evil spirits within.
"What have you done," said Merlock.
"I have freed your prisoners," said Kabutop.
The evil spirits known as Puppets, former Galeem and Dharkon own creations that mimics many heroes and villians own fighting styles.
"These various souls were once Galeem and Dharkon's own forces, now they are mine to command, attack," said Kabutop.
The three of many Puppets attacked Merlock and he said, "You won't get away with this for there is a prophecized hero who will defeat you and your Puppets."
Then Merlock casted a spell and disappeared.
"A prophecized hero huh, who would dare challenge me, no one can," said Kabutop.
Back in the real world, while towards school, Ashio notices someone was being bullied and decided to help by throwing a soda can at them to get them to chase him.
"Hey, you," said one of them bullies.
Ashio ran and the bullies chased him into the subway and when got on to express, he felt something off as if magically the train is teleported to another realm.
"Hey, someone slow this train down," said Ashio.
Then the train stopped at a temple where Merlock is located.
"Whoa, what in the world is this place," said Ashio.
"Come here prophecized hero," said Merlock.
"Me," said Ashio.
"Who else," said Merlock.
Then Ashio walks up the stairs and find himself face-to-face with a great wizard himself, Merlock.
"Again, Whoa, this is crazy," said Ashio, "Where am I."
"This is the temple that once hold the very energy source, the Lifelight, it once imprisoned the Puppets, now prophecized hero," said Merlock.
"Me, a hero," said Ashio.
"Yes, for you see the very prophecized hero need to use the elegant tools for the civilized age," said Merlock.
Ashio takes the Joy-Con looking devices and said, "But, these are Joy-Cons."
"There not just Joy-Cons, they become these weapons: twin swords, wristblades, a grapnel, a super scope, a bow, and a lance," said Merlock.
"Cool," said Ashio, "but what for," said Ashio.
Then both Ashio and Merlock hears the Puppets and Merlocks sends Ashio back to the subway and said, "We're meet again hero."
The Puppets arrived to face Merlock and he said before his death, "Kabutop, you will never see victory, for the prophecized hero has been chosen."
