Wolf Odyssey: Chapter 1

In honor to Alpha and Omega's 11th Anniversary.

Two months have passed since Nava, former leader of the wolf pack, passed away, handing over his place as leader to Aleu, daughter of Balto and Jenna. Then, she decided to go find Niju, the one wolf who didn't want to leave to his home so the pack could find more food, and convinced him to let her help him overcome his fear of change. She was eager to do this, as long as it was something that could help the entire pack. It was a long process, but slowly, Niju began to feel better.

But that wasn't it. He also began to have feelings for Aleu, and admire her for everything she did. He reconciled with Nuk, Yak and Sumac, and shaved his whiskers so they didn't make him look evil anymore. He was also gravely affected by Nava's departure, even though he used to compete with him for the leadership of the pack. But now he had realized that indeed, Aleu had all qualities to be a perfect leader, even better than him.

In a few days, Aleu would become the new leader of the pack. It was better for her to start training. Niju liked to see Aleu training. It seems like he was now a completely different wolf, after all. He wanted to someday confess Aleu that he loved her, but was afraid to do so, because he thought that she might still distrust him, although she was the one who helped him overcome his insecurities. However, Aleu wasn't aware of this.

Then along came the day. It was time for Aleu to take Nava's place. A great party was being thrown to celebrate her ascent to the leadership. Every wolf was howling and dancing, excited to greet their new leader. Meanwhile, Aleu was getting prepared for the crowning ceremony. Niju thought this was the perfect chance to talk to her, and possibly, just possibly, confess her love. He went to where she was.

"Um… hi!"

Aleu let out a little scream, because she didn't see him enter.

"Niju, what are you doing here? Can't you see I'm getting ready to lead our pack?"

"Oh, yeah. It's just wanted to talk to you. First, I want to thank you… for helping me overcome my fear of change. If it wasn't for you… I'd probably be causing delays and problems to the pack."

"Aw, it was nothing." Aleu smiled a little. "You were a hard student, though."

"Yeah, I know. But still, you could change me. Because you… are capable of everything, because you are a great wolf. I really admire the way you hunt and pay attention to what the wolves need. It's like you were born for this."

"It's true."

"Also, you are beautiful."

"What?"

"Wait, what? Did I say so? Sorry I mean… What I really want to tell you is that… that…"

Aleu got interested in knowing what Niju was about to say, but suddenly, something shot out of the bushes and hit Niju from behind. He began to feel a little dizzy and silly.

"Niju, what has gotten into you? Are you nervous or what? Stop playing with me like that!"

Then she also felt something hitting her back, and began to feel dizzy and silly, too! Both began saying crazy things:

"See you at seven o' clock… We'll have some bear claws for dinner…"

"Oooh, that sounds tasty!" Niju said. "Let me just have a little taste…"

Then both fell asleep. It turned out that the things that hit them both were tranquilizer darts! A pair of forest rangers picked them up.

"Let's take them to the van." one of them said. "We're off to Tanana."

The two forest rangers encaged the sleeping wolves in their van, which drove away from the forest of Nome and toward a place where they were picked up by a plane. It took them through the skies and landed on the airport near Tanana. There, they were picked up by another van. On the way, Aleu and Niju woke up.

"Ugh… Where am I?" Aleu asked.

"Aleu? Is that you?" Niju asked.

"NIju? Where are we?"

"In some kind of giant box…"

"It doesn't matter now. We must get out of here!"

Aleu began to push the sides of the cage.

"Where are we being taken, anyway?"

"Don't know, but if there's something my dad taught me is that there are humans that might hunt us to eat us!"

"You're right. We gotta get out of here before that happens."

The wolves kept shaking the cage in the back of the van in order to escape, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, back at the forest of Nome, the distraught pack of wolves was searching everywhere for their future leader Aleu. There would be no crowning ceremony without her! But there was one wolf that seemed to be happy about it but nobody knew… Sakima, an outcast black wolf with a scar on his left eye, that had been banished from the pack a long time ago.

"So, old Nava has left this world, and that means the pack needs a new leader." He said. "Perfect. I'll prove them I can be the greatest leader any wolf pack has ever seen! I'll show Nava I can be what he prohibited me to be! When I was a pup, I was adopted by him. Then, I became his student. He taught me to use his supernatural power to fuse with the elements. Even become invisible! When I grew up, he was so proud of me, for I had become almost as good as him. I told him that I could be the next leader of the pack. But then, he sensed a flaw inside me, and said that I would not be fit to be the next leader. I was upset, and tried to show him my skills as a great future leader. But after everything I did, what did he do? He banished me from the pack! I spent a lot of time with my dreams crushed and my heart broken. But now that he's gone, it's my time to shine, for I shall become the leader of this pack. And with my rogue wolves pack following me, no one will stop me!"

Sakima let out an evil laughter.
