He couldn't believe what he was seeing. His phone was ringing and again it was one of his friends. The room was dark and quiet other than the soft rain that hit the window. Books and paper littered the hard floor. A tall man stood staring at his phone that sat on the table. He ran his hand over his scarred face and muttered: "He won't get out, I'm in control of him," Remus John Lupin said to himself before he let out a calm breath and looked around his room before he sat down at his desk. "I'm in control of you," Remus said out loud before he looked at his phone and played with his hands. "How did they know your name?" Remus asked closing his eyes when a sharp pounding started in his head.
"I'm still here. Give me my body back." Remus shook his head when his voice rang in his ears for the first time in years.
"Your body? It's our body, Remus. People still think I'm you. So, it's going to be that way,"
"Romulus, please. My friends are worried. That's why they called. You can't hide for…"
"Shut up," Romulus said running his hand over his face when the rain stopped, and the phone started to ring. He then stood up and walked over to the phone. He stared at it before he picked it up. "Hello," he said trying his best to sound like him.
"Remus? Is that you? Where the hell have you been?" Romulus recognized the voice of his friend Sirius Black.
"I've been busy now leave me alone and…."
"Sirius? Oh, thank goodness. Can you come over to my house? Hurry I don't have time, he's going to…."
Romulus laughed and hung up the phone. "Why would he want to come over here? I would never let him in. you know that don't you," Romulus said before he walked out of the room.
Remus knew that he had to get back control. Even if it's only for a while. He needs to tell Sirius what's going on. He never told his friends about him. How could he? He's a monster and that also makes him one as well. Remus could feel Romulus walking to the bathroom, but it was hard to see through his own eyes because he's been stuck in his own brain for so long. "You won't win. You know that right?" Remus said trying to get control over his own body. However, he heard Romulus laugh.
"I won seven years ago my friend," Romulus said back before Remus heard the water running in the shower. "You just need to learn that I'm the real Remus now. Now shut up and let us take a shower," Remus wished he could roll his eyes. He also wished that he could sleep but Romulus won't let him.
Romulus was reading in the living room when he heard a small frantic knock on the door. "Remus open the door. Or whoever has him, let me in before I kick your ass!" Romulus rolled his eyes and turned a page in his book.
"No," he muttered before he slapped himself. Remus let out a breath before he stood up and quickly ran to the door as fast as he could before Romulus could take over again.
"Sirius!" he called opening the door. When he pulled it open, he felt Romulus take over again. "Sirius…I don't have much time. Please get a doctor or…...or someone to help…I'll explain when…" Remus cut off, putting his hands over his ears. "I can't control him," Remus said before he fell to the ground. Sirius stared at him before he pulled out his phone and got down to his knees and dialed for an ambulance.
Remus woke to a voice, but it was not Sirius's or Romulus's which is good, but he wished that it was Sirius's. "He used all of his medication seven years ago and he lost control of himself. Did you know about this?" Remus opened his eyes.
"He doesn't. I…. I haven't told anyone about him," Remus said in a weak voice. He saw Sirius stare at him and sigh.
"Why? Why didn't you tell me about this Rem? James and I could have helped," Sirius told him. He sounded hurt. Remus didn't blame him but how could he tell him about this. How could he? He's a monster.
"Because you'll see me as a monster," Remus said shaking his head. Sirius looked at the doctor who sighed.
"You're not Mr. Lupin. Promise me that you come back when you run out of your meds ok?" the doctor said before he walked out of the room. Remus shook his head, but he looked at Sirius who sighed.
"Remus, we can...um we can get though this alright," Sirius said sitting down in the chair by the bed and smiled at his friend. Remus smiled back even though he knew that he will just come back even with this meds.
"Alright, I'm going to get some sleep. My mind is clearer now," Remus said before he closed his eyes and fell asleep with the thought that Sirius might be right, but he knew that they can never get though this. However, he had to try.
