Chapter 1: Prologue

Isla Sorna 87 Miles Southwest of Isla Nublar

July 18, 2001

As night falls over the island, a helicopter flies overhead carrying 2 military men that were sent to retrieve lost data from Ingen after the hurricane hit the island. "You'd think most of Ingen's stuff would be destroyed right?" John said nervously. "Who knows what's even on that island," John continued. "Well, that's why we're investigating," Cole said, trying to calm down John. As they fly toward the island, the mission becomes more crucial than ever. "There's some mist up ahead shouldn't be a problem" The Pilot said. "Alright, but there might be some turbulence" The co-pilot said. "Guys, there is some mist up ahead and there might be turbulence so we recommend you to buckle up and enjoy the ride" the pilot informed. As the helicopter flew through the mist, it shook and rattled from the turbulence. Almost fearing that they would crash, they have finally made it through the mist. As everyone was relieved, the engine cut out and they found themselves spiraling towards the jungle. "C'mon, c'mon" the pilot said, trying to regain control of the helicopter. They were too late and the helicopter crashed down onto the ground. "Cole, are you ok?" John asked. "Yeah, I'm good." Cole replied. "The pilot and co-pilot are dead however." Cole explained. "So we're all on our own?" John asked. "Yes, unfortunately, but we can take cover to stay until rescue arrives" Cole said. They walked into the jungle finding a place to stay. Later that night, there was a storm brewing in the distance. John wakes up to the sound of the booming thunder overhead, or what he thought was thunder. John tries to wake Cole up. "Cole, Cole wake up." "What is it John? It's the middle of the night." Cole said tired and annoyed. "I think something is nearby us." John said nervously. Thunder roars across the sky and it starts to rain. Cole, fully awake, gets up with John and is more alert than ever. "Look at that footprint." John said as they both looked at the footprint. Then the ground began to shake as if a heavy foot just hit the ground. "What the hell was that?" Cole asked. "I don't know, but I think I see the rescue helicopter." John said gladly. "Wait a second, are they yelling something?" Cole asked. "Behind you, guys look, run, behind you" they screamed. "Did you hear that?" John asked. "Yeah," Cole said, afraid. As they slowly turn around, it is the most terrifying thing they have ever seen. "Oh my god!" They both screamed as they ran for their lives to the helicopter. The creature let out a loud roar that echoed through the air and started to chase after them. The helicopter took off quickly but stayed at a low level to not leave the 2 soldiers. "Throw in the ladder." the crewmate said as the ladder came down to them. They both ran and ran and they got closer and closer to the ladder but so did the creature. John hopped on the ladder but Cole was still trying to grab on. "C'mon Cole you got it." John yelled as Cole finally made it up the ladder. As the helicopter pulled up, something tugged down on the ladder. It was the creature, it caught up to them and bit the ladder. "We're gonna stall, cut the ladder now" the pilot ordered. "Go John, climb." Cole yelled as they both climbed up the ladder. The creature shook the ladder until it broke in half. With the 2 men still on the ladder and the creature getting smaller as they took off. They cheered and cheered for their lives. All of a sudden as a crack of lightning strikes the ground, the creature leaps into the air and chomps down on the ladder and the 2 men leave the helicopter. The creature lets out a victorious roar as the helicopter escapes the island.
