Can't take a joke

If Katniss' family died as a result of a joke. If everyone she loved died because people thought it was funny to pull a joke.

Katniss Everdeen, the victor of the seventy-second hunger games, strode into the mentors lounge angrily, others following soon after her. Johanna burst out, annoyed, "What!? It was just a joke!" Katniss' head whipped to face them, "Just a joke!? Do you know how much jokes can hurt?" Finnick, not understanding the panic, asked, "What's going on here?" Cashmere cried out, apparently outraged, "Yeah! What's going on? You're disturbing all the peace!"

Instead of Johanna replying, Augustus Braun, victor of the 67th hunger games did, "We simply played a harmless joke! A prank!" Haymitch paled at this, everyone in district twelve knew exactly how Katniss' family had died. Her friends had played a 'harmless' joke and locked them in a room. At first, it had been funny to both sides, but then a fire started…it was still a mystery as to how or why it had, but the friends never let them out, and then they had died in pain, and that's when Katniss had been put through so much pain.

"You did what?" He demanded, whispering. "Played a harmless prank!" A voice called out in confirmation. Katniss had been silent for a while, her face swelling up in pain and anger, "Well, don't! Don't play harmless pranks on me!" She air quoted 'harmless' sarcastically, her eyes saying she remembered full well what had happened that day.

Finnick turned towards her, looking in her eyes and examining her posture, before turning back to the group and saying, "Don't prank her. Find someone else to prank." Augustus groaned, "But who!? And why are you defending her?" Finnick replied without a second thought, "She's been through so much pain already."

Katniss, obviously not wanting to hear this, turned on her heel and walked away, towards her private room.

Meanwhile, back with the other victors, Haymitch sighed, "There was an accident," he paused, "a prank. It costed Katniss' family. Her whole family, and all her loved ones." Everyone froze at this, everyone but Haymitch, who asked, "What did you do anyways?"

Johanna answered sheepishly, "We started a fake fire in her room." Haymitch groaned, still angered by their choices, but knew they had no idea of the claimed 'accident.' "That's exactly how her family died! A fire!" When he realized he had gone too far, and the others severely regretted it, he got a hold of himself, "Just – don't do it again. You didn't know, and she knows that, but she simply can't help but react that way. I don't blame her. Her reaction was completely valid."

The victors nodded, understanding their errors, and went to Katniss' room to make it up to her. They knew now, they knew how her family had died, they knew why she always avoided fires, and why she never talked about her family's death.

The end

Hi guys! I decided to do a one-shot for this. So far, I think I'm getting into one-shots more, it doesn't take as much effort, and I really don't feel like writing long stories. I suppose this one was okay. I'm writing all these one-shots as a substitute for starting a new story. I have a question, and maybe you can comment or PM me, but should I start a new story, and if so, what should it be about?

I want it to be something different, because I think that most of my stories have so far been kind of normal, but I can't really think of anything different. Advice? Also, I have no idea how to publicly reply to comments, so if you are a guest and are commenting, then I advise you that I probs won't reply.
