Everything went so suddenly. The commander of the Castle of Lions and the black paladin of Voltron, were accompanied by the royal Altean advisor as their guide, towards a planet in a remote zone of the galaxy; unexpectedly, they were attacked by space pirates when getting out of the celestial body, to take from them what they had gotten on said planet -a liquid mineral that it only could be found there; really valuable in the black market-; something to help the Black Lion recover from the virus, that had been implanted by the witch Haggar.

Shiro tried to communicate with the rest of the paladins, who had went on their respective missions, but there wasn't anyone to assure that the Castle of Lions would count with reinforcements. It was a complete fleet, they were surrounding them and they were preparing to attack; at the same time, Coran guided the co-leaders to the escape pods, but not everyone could go, since someone had to distract the hostiles, so they could escape.

"Please, princess, allow me to do this; if you manage to escape, you'll be able to heal the Black Lion and form Voltron again." Tried the advisor explain rationally; although the sadness of leaving again the young adult without a father figure, tormented his heart with guilt, it was clear in his old and wrinkled eyes.

"I'm not going without you!"

The head of Voltron couldn't find the words and the courage to intervene, in what he saw as a family dispute, he didn't believe himself on the right to opine, even though he was conscious that the words of the older one were right; there wasn't much time left and they needed to take a decision now.

"Shiro… "

Coran looked directly over Allura towards the mentioned, who only nodded his head and little by little, he approached to take the princess, who refused emphatically; at the end, the emotional vulnerability and Shiro's natural strength, got the commander to be put on the pod against her will; right away the human got in his pod, along with the container of the mineral.

The advisor went to the cockpit, but before pressing the expulsion button, he saw that the canons of the pirate ship were ready to fire. "Drive strength towards each other, and follow your heart… It will never fail you…" He closed his eyes and pressed the button while he waited the inevitable.

As soon as the pods were ejected, the small ship in where they were in exploded. They landed noisily, but by fortune there weren't bigger damages; the pods opened in automatic and immediately, the commander went out and witnessed the pieces of the space vehicle scatter.

"Coran, no!"

"Princess, stop! It's too late, there's nothing you can do for him now."

"No… There has to be something…" The voice of the altean was about to break, her eyes fought to not let the tears fall.

"Princess… He's gone." The human also remorse the sacrifice, but someone had to have the feet on reality.

The princess let her mind slowly assimilate the truth; her heart was succumbing in pain and in helplessness, making the dark side of her altean magic take control over her, surrounding her in a malicious aura. "No!"

"Princess, don't!"

"You can't stop me." An eldritch diction was heard, instead of the firm and kind voice of the commander; the lovely blue eyes disappeared to glow in total whiteness.

"You're right, only you can do that. Please, Allura… Don't do this"

Allura inhaled and exhaled deeply -but agitated- and the rationality came back to her, she slowly let go the malicious energy, coming back to her original state; she lifted her eyes when she saw Shiro approaching in front of her.

"We have to go on; he wanted us to."

"It wasn't supposed to be like this… I feel so alone." The altean lowered her head and shrugged; she only lifted it up again when the human got closer to her, he had taken her both hands, but he still didn't stop looking at her face.

"You're not alone."

Right after, Shiro wrapped Allura in a firm hug, which she corresponded unaware; the gentle act allowed Allura to let escape the emotional agony in cries and sobs, which she muffled when pressing her face on Shiro's chest; he just kept holding her and caressed behind her head.

Afterwards, they were capable of contacting the other paladins; they located their whereabouts on an asteroid near the planet. Shiro had to give the tragic news to the rest, since Allura needed time alone to recover from her lost.
