The cool summer breeze blew through the city of Toronto, Canada. This day is a very special day for Mike Gonzales, as it marks the 4th anniversary of his final season on Total Drama. Since winning, he's been keeping up with his girl Zoey and they finally moved in together one year ago. After they had been living together for a few months, Mike knew for sure what he wanted to do. In his pocket, today is a beautiful engagement ring that he had picked months ago.
"Everything's ready.", Mike said to himself as he prepared for Zoey to finally arrive. "Except…", he trailed off, realizing he should consult the others before Zoey showed up. Mike shut his eyes and entered his mind, calling almost all his alternates to attention. "Everyone! There's something I am very excited to announce", Mike shouted excitedly. "Zoey's on the way, and when she gets here, I'm going to propose to her", he finished. This announcement was met with chatter between the personas. After defeating Mal, the 4 other alternates helped lock him in the deepest depths of his mind before returning to him.
Svetlana was the first to say her congratulations. Being the only female persona, Svetlana never grew to develop an attraction to Zoey, but she still loved watching the pair stumble throughout their relationship. "Zat is AMAZING newz Mike!", She said, eyes sparkling. "I got to say, Buckaroo, you got a great taste in Shelia's.", Manitoba said smugly. Since the beginning of their relationship, Manitoba seemed to be the fondest of Zoey. Vito shrugged and said, "Eh, if Red makes you happy, I can handle being tied down to one broad". Even Chester was smiling. "Now I'm going to need you guys on your best behavior, this proposal needs to be perfect.", Mike asked as he exited his mind.
As he became aware of his surroundings, he felt a hand on his chin. Looking up, he saw the most gorgeous girl in his world. "ZOEY! You're here!", he shouted as he jumped to hug her tight. I saw you mumbling to yourself, so I just sat and watched. Mike became worried, "did you hear what I was saying?", he asked panicked. "Well, no, it was just broken words that didn't mean much, at least to me", she assured. "Zoey, I need to ask you something", Mike said. Zoey nodded and leaned in to listen. "Zoey, you are the first girl to totally accept me with my disorder. I was so afraid because not everyone would've been so kind to me. I decided that today, being the 4th anniversary of my win, I would ask…", Mike monologued before kneeling. "Zoey, please make me the happiest guy in the world, and be my wife!", he proposed with that dorky gapped tooth smile she loved so much. Zoey froze in surprise but quickly squealed a shrill "YES!" as she jumped into her loving fiancé's arms. He gently slipped the ring on her finger; it was a simple but beautiful ring with red gems. They kissed under the willow and started to imagine the future they would soon have with each other.
Unknown to the pair, an evil force was brewing in the dark depths of Mike's subconscious thoughts. Mal sat and sulked in his cell. Ever since he was locked down here by the other personalities, he was stuck chipping away at the concrete floor. The soft scratching stopped when he heard cheering from higher in the brain. "What's all this ruckus?", he said holding his breath to listen. Being Mike's main source of misery for a whole season meant that none of the personalities gave him anything to do. So, when he was bored, he would sit quietly and listen to the conversations that managed to echo their way down to where he was. He could even hear Mike's outer conversations if he was quiet enough. He listened closer and started to make out what Mike was saying. He couldn't hear every word, but he heard one phrase extremely clear, "Will you marry me". Marriage? Mal took a moment to process truly how long he had been stuck in the mind. "Anniversary? Has it been four years already?", he asked sarcastically before he started giggling. "No better time to make my return", Mal said reaching into the loose brick in the wall by his bed. "I can't wait to make Mike's life hell again.", he chuckled evilly, quickly evolving into his notorious evil laugh. Mike and Zoey continued to obliviously celebrate their engagement, not seeing the storm clouds settling overhead.
