Sora stared at the famous landmark in front of her with amused eyes. It was so tall she barely could see the top of it. The yellow lights that illuminated it combined perfectly with the dark blue from the sky. Not even in her wildest dreams she thought she would be in Paris.
It all started about a month ago. Yamato told her he would be going to visit his grandfather in France with Natsuko and Takeru that summer. He invited her to go with them, saying he wanted to introduce her to Michael and that his mother had agreed to it. Sora was a little unsure because she never traveled by plane and was a little scared by it. She was sure her mother wouldn't allow her to travel overseas with her boyfriend's family, especially without her. Indeed, that was her first response. It took Natsuko a lot of convincing before Toshiko agreed to it.
Both Sora and Yamato could barely hold their excitement for their first trip together as a couple. They often chatted about it, and Sora talked about how she didn't know what to pack for the travel whereas Yamato told her about places they would visit together and how beautiful France was.
They sat next to each other in the flight and Yamato kindly let her sit by the window. At first she refused it, saying it would be hard for her to look at outside and realize how high they were. But he insisted on it, saying it would disappear as time went by and he was right. The look on her face when seeing the clouds so near her brought a huge smile to his face and he was more than delighted to see his girlfriend's excitement at this new experience in her life. He was beyond glad to witness that moment of hers.
She woke up from her daydream when she felt her hand being grabbed. She looked at her right and saw him standing beside her with a huge grin. That image alone made her automatically smile as well.
"Are you enjoying Paris?"
"The Eiffel Tower is so pretty!" Her voice carried out a lot of amusement. "It's even more beautiful than I've seen in pictures. The whole city seems amazing so far."
She finally was able to take her eyes from the tower and looked at her surroundings, not wanting to miss out a single thing.
"You look a child who just went to Disney for the first time."
"Stop it." She said jokingly. "Can you blame me though?"
"No." He admitted. "I was mesmerized by it too."
"When is your grandpa coming back? I thought he'd be back by now."
"He got held up at whatever he had to do in Bordeaux, but he's gonna arrive in the next few days."
"I'm excited to meet him. But also a little nervous."
"He's gonna love you, I'm sure."
"You really think so?"
"I do." He looked at her. "I honestly can't find anyone who doesn't like you."
"I'm sure there is someone." She looked down; her cheeks blushing a little.
"Well, don't be sure. You're such a sweet person." He lifted her chin and their eyes locked glances.
"I'm not really used to compliments, I'm sorry."
"You don't have to apologize. I know the feeling."
"You look great in these clothes by the way." Sora said as she looked at him up and down.
He was wearing white shorts and a dark blue shirt. She was wearing light blue jeans and a flowery top. There was a clip on the right side of her hair, which he had given her in one of her latest birthdays. She has been wearing it everyday since then. Her hair is little longer than usual, being a little below her shoulders now. He couldn't help but think she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
"I never thought I'd ever come to Paris." She confessed.
"I'm so glad I got to see it." He said as he put a lock of her hair behind her ear and then brushed her cheek with the back of his hand. "Can you believe this is our first trip together?"
"The first of many." She tilted her head to the left a little when she felt his touch on his skin and touched his hand. "I'm so happy I'm here with you."
"Me too."
She broke away from his gaze and bent to the side to have a better look of the Eiffel Tower. "There are so many couples closer to the tower."
He got her hint right away. "Would you like to go closer to it?"
"Yes!" She replied excitedly.
"They are probably just taking pictures for the future."
"We should do it too!" She grabbed him by the hand and dragged him closer to the landmark.
They were now standing almost under the tower. Both of them had their heads thrown back to have a better view of it.
"It's so big!"
"It is." Yamato nodded and lowered his head to the regular position. "I feel like sitting down."
"Already?" Sora asked as she followed his gesture.
They sat down on a bench and the red haired girl looked at the people around them.
"It's true what they say about Paris being a romantic city."
"For those who are in love, yeah." The blonde placed his arm over her shoulder.
Sora avoided making eye contact with him for a moment as she tried to figure out what he meant with that. They haven't really talked about feelings yet, as they only had been together for about six months. She thought it was too soon, but maybe not.
"Sora?"
"Yeah?" She shook her head. "I'm sorry."
Yamato stood up and offered her his hand. She looked at it for a while and then grabbed it. A smile came into her lips as he spun her around and brought her closer to him. His arms slipped to her back and he embraced her.
"Since we're here, we should take a picture by the tower."
"I agree."
Sora held her phone in front of her and watched as he posed behind her. His hands reached for her waist and he rested his chin on her shoulder.
"I love you." Yamato whispered to her before kissing her on the cheek at the same moment she took the photo.
