It was bad. Really bad. With every day the country was getting weaker- and with it the population. Starving children were wandering through the thick clouds of smoke, coughing, crying, people had basically given up- well aside from one person. The girl that hadn't given up yet.

Santana was running through the streets of the small town, constantly looking behind her. "Ah dammit!", she exclaimed when she saw the silhouettes of 5 figures appear in the dark red smoke. She checked for the small knife on her belt and kept running towards the forest. "COME WITH ME", Santana yelled at two children hiding behind a dumpster. "We- we can't", the taller one of them, a girl, weakly answered. "You have to, it isn't safe here", Santana reached out her hands for the children. She looked back, the figures were getting closer. "Quick", she whispered and put the kids in the dumpster one by one. "You will be safer there. I have to go- wait." Santana quickly reached into her pocket and took out a bag. "Take this, it's some food and water." Before the children could thank her she had already disappeared into the thick dust again.

The latina ran as far as her legs could carry her and looked around again. She was starting to get anxious. Those figures were moving at a fast pace and Santana's energy was fading by the minute. She tried to press through it, but eventually she had to take a break. Santana sat down behind a tree stump, praying for the figures to not notice her. "She's behind the tree stump", she heard one of the five hiss like a snake. Santana sighed.

She quietly got up and sprinted away, but she didn't get very far. Santana felt a sharp object hit her arm and eventually go through the skin. "AHHH", she yelled and fell over. The pain coursing through her veins felt like fire and Santana blanked out for a bit. Thankfully, she quickly came to her senses and was about to press her hand on the wound, but then she noticed the tallest of the figures coming towards her. Oh god what am I supposed to do now?, she thought.

Santana held her breath and stayed down, pretending to be dead. The figure carelessly kicked her in the back, almost causing her to scream. Santana gasped, but thankfully no one noticed. "Dead probably. And even if not, she'll lose so much blood it will be over anyways", the creature said and turned around without taking a second look. Santana waited for the figures to be out of sight and sat up. "Good lord this hurts." She carefully pulled out the arrow from her arm and tried her best to not scream. Still pressing her hand on the wound, she took off her jacket and wrapped it around her arm, tying a knot.

Suddenly she heard a loud hiss, like something gliding through the air at a fast pace. "Oh god not another arrow", Santana mumbled and ducked. What she thought was an arrow actually turned out to be a girl. Santana watched her get closer, not sure if she could be trusted.

"Hey", the girl smiled, irritating the latina. Why was she happy? "My name's Quinn!", she said in an enthusiastic tone and put her short blonde hair in a sloppy ponytail before kneeling down next to Santana. "H- hi I'm Santana", San said, still confused about Quinn's enthusiasm. Quinn smiled at her while carefully helping her sit up. "Are you ok?", she asked and took a look at her arm. "Ouch that looks hurtful." "Yeah, it does hurt a lot."

Quinn took out a bandage and started putting it around the latina's arm. "Thanks", Santana whispered and took a longer look at Quinn. She was of average height, probably 5'4 or 5'5 and looked pretty good. She almost looked like an angel, so untouched and almost glowing in the dark.

"You.. You're very beautiful Quinn", Santana mumbled and blushed a bit. "Thank you!", Quinn giggled and moved a little closer to her new found friend. Suddenly Santana felt a very strong impulse. An impulse to move forward. Santana bent forward and their lips locked. The feeling that spread through her body next was so indescribably beautiful, it was heaven on earth. For a short moment Santana forgot all the dark around her, the starving children and the pain in her arm. There was just Quinn, the angelic girl that had just saved her.

Quinn softly pulled back, took Santana's hand and pulled her up. "Come on!", she said. "What..?", Santana asked, still mesmerized by the kiss. Quinn gave her a kiss on the cheek and together they walked towards the town again.

"We have a world to save. Together."
