Have you guys seen those Random Rings on Disney Channel; those shorts that play during commercials where the characters of Big City Greens call random people? (Sometimes even different Disney characters) Well I decided to make up my own Random Ring here. This is basically my take on what would happen if Cricket called Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug. Enjoy :)
One day in Big City, Cricket and his sister Tilly were about to prank call someone.
"Ooooh this is gonna so good," Cricket giggled. "You got the voice changer Tilly?"
"Right here, Cricket" Tilly replied as she held out the microphone.
"Alright, you know the plan right? We're gonna call Marinette and when she answers, we're gonna use the microphone and disguise our voices and prank her."
"It'll be an honer to talk to Ladybug, the greatest superhero in all of Paris," Tilly said.
"I know right, I'm excited too," Cricket dialed the number on the phone. "Shh shh it's ringing."
Meanwhile in Paris, school had just let out. Adrian was walking Marinette home when suddenly her cell phone went off.
"Oh, excuse me I gotta take this" Marinette said as she answered the phone. "Hello?"
On the other side of the line, Cricket spoke into the voice changer microphone, giving him a Chinese accent voice.
"Greetings Marinette," he said. "This is your master speaking. I have some unfortunate news. I'm afraid you and Adrian are no longer worthy of being Ladybug and Cat Noir."
"Wait WHAT?!" Marinette was shocked. "But why?"
"Because from I've seen from your battles, you two are far too reckless to handle this kind of responsibility. Buildings get destroyed, people get hurt, and worst of all, all you do is transform people that have been akumatized back to normal."
"Hey, who's on the phone?" Adrian asked.
Marinette covered the phone so that their "master" wouldn't hear. "It's Master Fu. He says that we can't fight as Ladybug and Cat Noir anymore because we're too reckless."
"What?!" Adrian gasped. "That doesn't sound right, there's gotta be some kind of mistake."
Marinette continued on her phone, "Well yeah, of course I purify the akumas and sure we may cause some...minor damage. But with the power of Miraculous Ladybug I'm able to fix everything at the end of the battle. That's good thing isn't it?"
"Yes but that's not enough," Cricket said. "While you're busy purifying the akumas, Hawk Moth is still out there. He could be terrorizing people all over the world. He's not gonna stop akumizing people unless you take the fight to him!"
"We don't know where he is right now," Marinette pointed out. "But we're gonna find him I promise."
This time it was Tilly's turn to speak into the voice changer microphone.
"I'm sorry Marinette," she spoke in a mock sad voice. "It truly pains me to say this, but you and Adrian cannot fight as Ladybug and Cat Noir anymore. I'm afraid I must ask that you two come to my place and hand in your Miraculous by nightfall."
"No...no," Marinette was on the verge of tears.
"Marinette, what's he saying?" Adrian asked urgently.
"Master is saying that...that...that we have to turn in our Miraculous."
"You're kidding right?!"
"No I'm not, he really said that. This...this can't be happening."
Unable to contain themselves any longer, Cricket and Tilly decided to come clean and the two burst out into heavy laughter.
"HAHAHAHAHA we totally got you Marinette. There was no Master Fu, it was me, Cricket, and my sister, Tilly, the WHOLE TIME!" Cricket laughed.
"Huh...what?" Marinette was confused.
"We used a special microphone to disguise our voices." Tilly then spoke into the microphone once more. "Hear that? This is a Chinese voice."
Marinette stood there in complete and utter silence. After a moment, she facepalmed and was crying. Not from sadness, but from laughing so hard after realizing that this was nothing more than a prank call.
"Uh Marinette, what's going on?" Adrian asked confused.
"Okay so...hah...get a load of this," Marinette tried to speak in-between laughter. "Turns out it wasn't...really Master Fu...haha...on the phone. It was...HAH...it was just two kids prank calling me. They used a microphone to change their voices, oh man hahaha HAH. Here let me put it on speaker for you."
With her cell phone on speaker, Adrian could hear the sound of the two children laughing. Marinette continued to laugh and Adrian couldn't help but join in. When the laughter finally died down, Marinette was the first to speak.
"Wow you kids got me good, I thought for sure that was Master Fu on the line. The voice changer microphone was very convincing." She giggled.
"What can I say? I'm Cricket Green, the Master of Prank Calls." Cricket smirked, but then his tone of voice turned serious.
"Listen Marinette, I gotta tell you something. In all seriousness, you guys are doing awesome out there. No one could ever replace you and Adrian as Ladybug and Cat Noir."
"That's right," said Tilly. "Cricket and I love you guys, and Paris needs you. If you had to give up your Miraculous, we would all be in danger."
"Aw thanks, that's so sweet of you," Marinette smiled.
"You're right about that, we are the purrr-fect heroes," Adrian said.
*Gasp* "Is that Adrian with you as in THE CAT NOIR?!" Cricket beamed.
"As a matter of fact, it is." Marinette replied.
"Ohh my gosh AHH this is so cool, BINGO BANGO!"
"The Miraculous Duo is here, ready to save the day! Tikki Spots on! HAH!" Tilly chanted.
"Plagg, Claws out!" Cricket chanted. "Doo doo do-do-do-do-do doo doo doo doo."
Marinette and Adrian laughed listening to the kids chanting the words for their transformations.
"Sounds like we have a fan club," Adrian remarked.
"I know right? These kids are really enthusiastic." Marinette giggled.
"Hey, Marinette! Tilly and I wrote a song about you guys, wanna hear it?" Cricket asked eagerly.
"A song?" Adrian wondered.
"Uh okay sure, let's hear it." Marinette replied.
So Cricket cleared his throat and he and Tilly began to sing. Tilly sang the first part of the song which was about Marinette and what she did with her day. Then when she got to the chorus part, Cricket joined in.
"Miraculous! Simply the best! Up to the test when things go wrong! Miraculous! The luckiest! The power of love always so stro-"
*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
Suddenly there was some beeping, meaning that someone else was on the line. It was Cricket and Tilly's grandmother, Alice.
"Gramma, Gramma," Tilly called.
"Gramma, it's happening again we're on the phone." Cricket said.
Alice groaned. "UUUGH! You kids and your telephone time!"
"Gramma, we're trying to talk to Ladybug and Cat Noir." Cricket explained.
"WHAT?! Now why the heck would you talk to a ladybug and cat on the phone! Cats don't have thumbs and ladybugs are too dang small to lift anything! THEY CAN'T EVEN SPEAK!" Alice barked.
"No no no not a ladybug and a cat. Ladybug and Cat Noir, they're characters." Cricket corrected her.
"Umm, what's going on?" Marinette asked.
"Yeah, who's the old lady?" Adrian asked.
"Sorry guys, that's our gramma," Cricket replied.
"I thought I heard a teenage girl's voice and a teenage boy's voice just now." Alice grunted.
"That was Marinette and Adrian, otherwise known as Ladybug and Cat Noir." Cricket said.
"Yeah Gramma, they're the main protagonists in an epic story called Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir." Tilly explained.
Alice was confused.
"The ladybug's name is Marinette and the cat's name is Adrian? THE LADYBUG AND CAT CAN TALK?! Wait a second, this sounds like one of those cheap knock off cartoons! Are there any good TV shows on anymore? Back in my day we use to have good cartoons that were filled with character development, drama, and originality! Now all we're getting is garbage shows about a cat chasing a ladybug! The cat's supposed to chase the mouse! How dare they replace the mouse with a stupid ladybug!"
"Gramma, that's not what Ladybug and Cat Noir are about, you don't get it!" Cricket almost snapped.
Marinette and Adrian exchanged glances (the latter shrugging his shoulders) as they listened to Cricket and Tilly arguing with their grandmother on the phone.
"Umm I'm gonna hang up now." Marinette said as she was about to hang up.
"Wait wait, Marinette don't go," Cricket stopped her.
When the voices died down, Cricket cleared his throat and was going to explain to Alice what the two superhero teens were about.
"Now Gramma, I need you to listen very carefully, okay? Marinette and Adrian are superheroes. By day, they're just normal teenagers. But by night, or when a bad guy shows up, they transform into Ladybug and Cat Noir and they fight the bad guy to save Paris."
"Huh, so they're humans that turn into a ladybug and a cat?" Alice arched an eyebrow.
"No Gramma, they don their ladybug and black cat costumes and they have magical powers." Tilly continued for Cricket. "Marinette is Ladybug and Adrian is Cat Noir. It's their superhero personas."
"Ohhhh...oh okay, I get it now." Alice said with a smile.
Cricket and Tilly sighed in relief when their grandmother finally understood who Ladybug and Cat Noir were. Alice didn't hang up but she remained silent as she listened to the rest of the conversation.
"Alright, sorry about guys," Cricket said. "Now where were we? Oh yeah we were trying to sing you a song."
But just as Tilly and Cricket were about to sing their song again, dark clouds covered the sky, lighting flashed, and there was evil laughter in the air.
"Uh oh, this doesn't look good." Marinette said.
"Yeah, looks like Stormy Weather is back." Adrian replied before turning his attention to Marinette's cell phone. "Hey little guys, we gotta bounce. There's trouble in Paris, as there's a super villain that wants to get their paws on our Miraculous."
Cricket and Tilly beamed and cheered loudly for the two teens.
"Oh my gosh, you guys are gonna transform and fight the bad guy and save the day." Cricket replied excitedly. "Tikki, Spots on! Plagg, Claws out! Ladybug and Cat Noir AWAY!"
"Alright, bye kids." Marinette said.
"Farewell Miraculous Duo," Tilly cried proudly. "Good luck and don't lose to the bad guys we'll call you next week!"
Beep
