Heidi took a deep breath as she picked her guitar up.

She ran her fingers through the strings, checking to see how it sounded first before anything else. She tweaked it slightly before running her fingers through it again. The teen got the sound she wanted. Heidi adjusted the music sheet and she cleared her throat. There were a few arrangements she had to make, but she wasn't too sure how it would sound despite liking the changes she made. It was something she needed to practice overall, since she needed to perfect it and she needed to make sure she had it memorized in her head.

Heidi picked up her guitar pick before she started playing. As she got the rhythm down, she moved her head to the beat. It didn't take too long for her to get to the lyrics portion of the song.

"Someone's digging in my head,
Someone's fooling up my bed,
Is it rapture that he wants?
Is it capture that I sought?"

Howard walked by Heidi's bedroom and stopped. He backed up and pressed his head up against the door. The redhead heard music coming from her room. He slightly opened the door and saw Heidi playing and singing. His eyebrow raised looking at her, but then he remembered about the school music event that was coming up. He almost forgot about it. So far, it seemed like she was actually doing pretty decently, even if he didn't know the song. Then again, she could've made it herself, he wasn't too sure since he didn't pay much attention to her music. It did sound different from what she usually played, though, that he could notice.

It also reminded him that he and Cunningham needed to practice for it, but he could do that later. For the moment he walked inside and took a seat near her. She didn't notice him walking in, completely focused on the music sheet. Howard supposed that she was 'in the zone' at that point. Normally, she would notice him coming in and Heidi would tell him to get out of her room, but not this time.

"God be willing, God be true,
God be feeling, God be you.
I want money in my bank,
Gasoline in my tank,
Can you give me what I need?
I'm breaking them down for the seed."

Listening to her perform, Howard began tapping his foot. It wasn't something he'd listen to on a regular, but he had to admit, it wasn't a bad sound for Heidi. He looked up at her face; she was content and lost in the music. She didn't even look away from the music sheet for a single moment. The light from outside made her skin glow, and her face seemed soft enough to touch. He lightly shook his head. He wasn't going to bother her until after she was done practicing.

Not this time, anyways, there were always other times he could do that. Messing with her was a good option too, but that was for another day as well. Eventually, Howard stopped paying attention to the words and he let himself drown in the music. A small smile crawled up on his face as he kept watching Heidi.

"Would you die, die for me
Into the sea, into the sea
Would you die for me, baby?
Would you die, die for me
Into the sea, into the sea
Would you die for me, baby?"

It seemed like Heidi speedread the whole sheet before she closed her eyes and turned her body. He could tell she was really getting into it, becoming one with the music. She was smiling and having fun. During the song, Heidi would sometimes turn around again, but not once did she notice Howard there. He thought at least once she would notice him just sitting on her bed, but he digressed.

Before long, she was done playing the song. Howard waited a few seconds before slow clapping, which made Heidi jump and look at him. She thought her heart was going to jump out of her chest.

"Ho-Howard?! When did you get in here?!"

"I think it was at the start of the song, not completely sure," Howard started, "but it took you this long to notice I was here, ya shoob?"

"I was focused on the music!"

"Clearly."

Heidi sighed. "Did I sound decent at least? Be honest."

"Not the best thing you made, but it's not bad, in fact you almost sounded bruce." Howard answered.

She blinked a few times. "Wait, really?"

He shrugged. "With how it sounded, it suits you."

She looked at him with skepticism. Howard rolled his eyes before sighing.

"I meant it as a genuine compliment." He added.

Heidi walked up to him. "That's a surprise, coming from you."

"What, did you expect me to be much harsher?" He grabbed Heidi's arm and pulled her closer, with their faces being merely inches away. "I could rip you to shreds if I wanted to."

"Good."

She kissed him on the lips. Heidi pulled away and put her guitar down before she went to the door. Opening the door, she looked back at Howard.

"I'm getting food. I love you."

"I love you too, Heidi."

She smiled and left the room. Howard put his hand on his face as he stared at the door. He sighed through his nose.

"I love you too."

He swore he was becoming too soft.
