"Impossible," the magician whispered in disbelief to her own bewildered reflection staring back at her from the copper basin. With a small prick of her finger, she watched in stunned silence, feeling her heart drop into the pit of her stomach as the single drop of blood fell into the milky white liquid. A stream of blue blossomed from the center, and the two colors swirled together until they coalesced into a solid hue of cobalt.

"No." The walls seemed to close in on her and the room began to spin. She sank to the floor in a heap, pulling her knees to her chest and buried her face into her folded arms. "What am I going to do?" She asked the empty space around her.

A knock at the door dimly reminded her of the man standing outside her bathroom. "Yamuraiha?" His deep voice was laced with uncertainty. After a few moments with no sign of response, he eased the door open, the wood creaking on its hinges.

With one glance at the contents of the bowl on the bathroom counter, the tall and muscular man with red hair confirmed what he already knew to be true. His rose-colored eyes swiveled to his teal-haired companion on the floor. As if sensing his gaze on her, she slowly lifted her head, blue eyes welling with tears.

"You were right," Yamuraiha croaked, her throat feeling unusually tight. The man said nothing as he slumped next to her on the cold tiles and offered his shoulder as a meager offering for comfort. She leaned against him gratefully. "I don't know what to do, Masrur." A single tear trickled down her cheek. She wiped it away feebly with her sleeve.

Yamuraiha sniffled as Masrur hesitated to ask the question that has been on his mind since many days ago. "When are you going to tell him?"

Yamuraiha squeezed her eyes shut at the thought of confronting him with this stunning discovery. "Oh gods," she breathed. "I can't even think of facing him right now."

"You should tell him."

Yamuraiha's jaw clenched. "For Solomon's sake, it was just one time. One!" Her shrill voice reverberated around the bathroom.

"Once is all it takes," Masrur deadpanned. He felt a twinge of frustration with himself as he watched his friend deflate at his words. He had never been very good at being sensitive.

"I must be an idiot," Yamuraiha moaned. "What was I thinking?"

"Yamu-"

"I'm a highly skilled Magician, I was the top of my class at the academy, Mogamett even called me a prodigy. I'm the head magician in King Sinbad's court, made countless magical discoveries, and trained a magi. Yet, the thought of using contraception didn't even come to me until after the fact."

"Well, you're not entirely at fault," Masrur tried as a feeble attempt to calm her. "He is fifty percent to blame."

A flush crept up Yamuraiha's neck and she looked away. "But I had asked for it," she muttered through clenched teeth. "And I was so caught up in my own problems that the possibility of becoming pregnant didn't even cross my mind. Now look at me; I'm exactly that." More tears spilled down her cheeks. "I'm pregnant."

The assertion settled heavily between them. Now that she had said it aloud, the realization that her entire world was about to change struck her like lightning. Nausea rose up her throat and she fought the urge to spew her dinner.

Masrur looked at her with pity. "No one will judge you, Yamu."

"I don't really fear judgment. I just… Don't know what to do. It was just a one-night stand… I hadn't planned on this and I'm terrified of what's going to happen." Yamuraiha shook her head, choking back sobs. "I don't want this."

Masrur's eyes widened which was unusual for the typically stoic man. "Are you not going to…" His voice trailed off.

Apparently, he didn't dare finish his question, which surprised Yamuraiha. For a seasoned, deadly-warrior Fanalis, Masrur appeared to be very caring about an unborn child that wasn't even his. This somehow warmed her aching heart despite her dire situation, even if just a little.

"I will have this baby," Yamuraiha said without even thinking, and she was shocked by the resolution in her voice. She could feel Masrur relax beside her.

"I still think you should tell him." Masrur reiterated.

Yamuraiha bit her lip but said nothing.

Masrur narrowed his eyes at the mage. "You are going to tell him... Right?"
