Task 3 - Triangle Pose: Write about unrequited love
From the moment Pansy Parkinson met Draco Malfoy she was smitten, a smitten kitten as the muggle girls in school would say. But she was better than that.
At that same time, she couldn't help it; the slicked back blond hair, the grey eyes... and that voice. Oh, there was no doubt about it, she was in love!
To her delight, she was sorted into the same house as Draco. It must have been fate!
"Isn't this great?" She squealed to fellow house mate, Daphne Greengrass. "He's so cute!"
Daphne rolled her dark brown eyes and pointed out, "You barely know him though."
"Oh, don't worry about that, Daph," Pansy replied with a hand wave. "There's plenty of time."
To Pansy's delight, it seemed like Draco liked her too. He would talk to her in classes and in the dorm, they would hang out with mutual friends in the courtyard.
"He likes me, he definitely does," Pansy said confidently to Daphne as they strolled through the halls to their dormitory. "I can feel it."
The taller black hair girl rolled her eyes as she cradled her books to her chest. "Pans, I'm not so sure about that."
"Nonsense, he does. He's just waiting for the right time to ask me out."
Pansy was over the moon when Draco asked her to the Yule Ball during their fourth year. Did he even have to ask? No, she'd go even if she were in a coma!
"See?" She boasted to Daphne as the two looked through one of the Hogsmeade shop for dresses. "If he didn't like me then why did he ask me to the dance?"
"Cause he didn't have anyone else to ask..." Daphne muttered, pulling out a floor length light blue cap sleeve dress.
Pansy gasped in offense. "Not true! Why do I even hang out with you?"
"Because you have no other friends," Daphne pointed out without hesitation.
The shorter brunette opened her mouth to argue but realized her friend was right. Pouting, she took the black dress she had her eye on and went to try it on.
"Oh, Drakey-poo!" Pansy swooned at the ball. "Isn't this fun?"
"Loads," Draco deadpanned, not even giving Pansy a glance. "Can you believe that mudblood is here with the Viktor Krum?"
"Draco, I swear you're more in love with him than you are with me."
Blinking, the blond turned to her in confusion. "What?"
"Nothing."
Sixth year everything started to change... Draco was pulling away from his friends, and that included Pansy. She couldn't figure out why as she held Draco's head in her lap and stroked his hair.
"Anything I can do?" She cooed as Daphne and Blaise Zabini shared a look of disgust. "Can I get you anything from the trolley?"
"No." Draco muttered.
"Not even a water?"
"No!"
Pulling back, Pansy was stunned; Draco had never snapped at her before. Blinking away tears, she turned towards the window to watch the scenery go by.
The next year everything had completely changed. Death Eaters ruled the school and muggle borns were driven into hiding. The Carrow siblings in particular were awful and had no qualms against using students for curse practices. Rumor had it that some Gryffindors were hiding out in the Room of Requirements.
Of course, Slytherins were treated like royalty and Gryffindors as peasants. Pansy would be queen with Draco as her king.
"He's going to ask me to marry him!" Pansy declared to Daphne in their dorm room. "I know he will... after the year is over, if not sooner!"
"But you aren't even official," Daphne argued softly.
"Yes, we are." Pansy pouted. "He just doesn't know it."
To her dismay, Draco didn't ask her to marry him. In fact, he married Daphne's sister! Astoria Greengrass... just the name alone made Pansy see red.
'Guess I will always just be a smitten kitten.' Pansy thought to herself. 'Always have, always will.'
