One-shot
Set during the Day of the Diesels. What if Percy came across Gordon on his way back to the Diesel Works and begs him to help him free Thomas.
Just an excuse to write about a protective Gordon. Cause I like the idea of him looking out for Thomas XD
Where is Thomas!
Percy felt like crying as he raced down the track. Diesel 10 tricked him, they all tricked him! All they ever wanted was the Steam Works! They didn't care to make him feel important or be his friend. Worse of all, he gave up his best friend to them.
His boiler hurt and he felt sick just picturing Thomas stuck in the Diesel Works with no way out. He had to get to him fast! He had to free him.
"Hold on Thomas! I'm coming". He raced like the wind and eventually entered the Works and hurried to the main shed where Diesel 10 and the others had gathered when Thomas had arrived.
"Thomas! I'm here, I've come to rescue you!"
He didn't see anyone. It was empty. He gasped suddenly seeing a fire, the flame was big and he knew it was gonna spread! Thomas was here somewhere in the Diesel area and if this wasn't put out soon he will be in even more danger. "I need to get help! Bell! She and Flynn can stop this!"
He had to move fast. He needed to get to the Sodor Search and Rescue Center. He huffed and puffed. His boiler burned bright as he wouldn't stop. His mind thought of Thomas. He wanted to cry again but had to be brave. There was no time to regret now. His friend was in danger.
It didn't take long for him to reach his destination. As soon as he entered. He beeped his whistle as loud as he could and cried their names. "Bell! Flynn!"
The two Rescuers stared at Percy. Seeing the panic in his eyes. "The Diesel Works are on fire!"
"Don't worry Percy! I'm ready and raring to rescue!" Flynn honked and hooted. His alarm went but Bell pointed out a problem.
"But you don't have hose Flynn"
The fire engine gasped and then looked worried.
Bell looked at Percy remembering he was supposed to deliver it. "Where is Flynn's hose?"
Percy could bash his buffers if he could! Dart! He swore he would take it here. "Dart said he delivery it to you"
"But he didn't," Rocky the other rescuer said as he listened to them.
Percy thought then gasped. The diesels tricked him with that too! They promised to take it here but never did. Just another trick. "The hose! It's at the Diesel Works! No time to explain just come!".
The three of them raced together. Percy praying that the fire hadn't spread too fast yet. As they came to down the track he saw Gordon heading their way looking angry. "PERCY!" He yelled.
The little green engine halted as he drew near. "Gordon!"
"Where is Thomas! He has not returned to the Steam Works. No one has seen him since he followed after you! I can't wait any longer. Where is he?!"
Percy felt worse than ever. His friends were all worried and scared for Thomas. He had never seen Gordon this mad before and his wheels trembled. He had to tell the truth, he needed his help.
"Please! Gordon, follow us to the Diesel Works. He is there! Diesel 10 ordered Den and Dart to keep him prisoner. They won't let him leave. It's my fault I was tricked into giving them, Kevin. They needed a crane. I also believed they cared about me. I am a silly engine. You can yell and scream at me later but right now we have another big problem. There is a fire at the Diesel Works!"
Gordon's eyes widen in shock and horror. His angry slipping away replaced by fear. Thomas was in more danger than ever. "No..." he gasped then stared at Percy. "I will come with you! I'll make them let Thomas and Kevin go or else!" He puffed out a big burst of steam to make his point.
Percy felt better they had Gordon with them and they all raced off.
...
By the time they arrived back at the Works. Black smoke was visible. The fire now covered the main shed and was spreading to the small shed next door. Where the diesels would have rested. They all heard a familiar whistle as they got closer. It was Thomas!
"He's at the back shed!" Percy cried. Gordon followed right beside him. He could hear Thomas yell for help and his boiler was ready to burst from anger. Especially when he heard one of the diesels yell at the little engine.
"Quiet No one is coming!"To make his point Den backed into Thomas hard, smashing into his buffer. Thomas was pushed back and bumped hard into the wall. He gave out a cry.
Gordon's growled, he would have happily bashed Den if Thomas was stuck behind him and they still needed to find the hose for Flynn. When they approached Thomas smiled so happy seeing his friends again, he looked scared. He smelled the fire and smoke and he couldn't leave. Both he and Kevin were stuck.
"Where's Flynn hose!"Demanded Percy
Den looked away. "Hose? Uh, don't know?"
"What he means is. He doesn't know what you're talking about" Dart said.
Percy was cross. "Yes, he does! You said you deliver it but you never did!"
Bell spoke now. "We need it now! It's an emergency!"
Den and Dart gasped and looked at one another. They were scared too of the fire but they still had orders to follow, however, if Percy and his friends put out the fire. They could still do their job keeping Thomas and Kevin prisoner.
"It's in the garbage around the back! Dart yelled.
Flynn was happy to finally be able to use his hose. "Don't worry Percy we'll find it!". The fire engine and Bell raced away to do their jobs.
Now Gordon came even closer and fixed the two diesels with a hard stare. "Now let Thomas go!" He bellowed.
"Diesel 10, gave us orders"
"What he means is. Where not moving"
Gordon was madder than ever. These two were idiots, not only helping Diesel 10 with his plan but they were willing to stay here even though there is a fire! He looked at Thomas in the back. The little Tank engine was trembling, staring at him, a pleading look in his eyes, wanting help. "Gordon" he peeped softly, his voice near breaking as he was close to tears.
The big engine wasn't going to stand for this any longer and had an idea. He started to back off. "If you don't let my friend go. I'll make you move!" He couldn't get rid of Den but he could bash Dart. He backed down the track so he let himself build up enough speed to do some damage.
Now Dart felt scared. He didn't want to be derailed with a fire so close before Gordon got too far he screamed. "WAIT WAIT! Please..we just followed orders. I don't wanna get hurt. Come let's go Den!"
The two raced away but before leaving Gordon had words. "If you ever come near Thomas again or hurt him in any way! I'll bash into you so hard that there won't be enough parts of you to send to the Smelters Yard! Got it!" He roared.
The 2 diesels quickly promised they never go near him again. They were shaking and trembling. Wheels were hardly able to stay on the tracks as they left as fast as they could. Percy gasped at Gordon never seeing him like that. He may not show his feelings much to his friends or show how much he cares but when he does it's always a memorable moment.
Thomas peeped his whistle. He let out a sigh of relief. He smiled at his friends. "Thank you for saving me, both of you".
Percy was so delighted seeing he was ok. "I couldn't have done it without Gordon"
The big blue engine was proud of himself and smiled a big smile. "I just did what any good steam engine would do. I looked out for one of us". He smiled at Thomas but still was concerned. "Are you alright? They didn't hurt you?"
"No just bashed a little if I tried to move forward"
Kevin who was quiet throughout the ordeal, now finally spoke up. His voice was low." I tried to tell them not to do it but they just yelled at me". The little four-wheeled crane was upset by what happened and he didn't like being yelled at. He thought he was going to be a hero. He thought it would be fun, it was for a while but it quickly became bad. He didn't like how they threatened him or his dear friend Thomas. He didn't like it here anymore. He wanted to go back to the Steam Works.
Gordon felt his anger bubble over again for them daring to hurt Thomas but the smell of smoke brought him around. "We need to leave. It's not safe."
The two engines agreed and followed Gordon as he backed out of the Desiel Works. Percy took Kevin and they hurried. The four of them cheered seeing Flynn and Bell at work getting the fire out. The three of them had a mission was time to stop Diesel's 10 plan and get them out of the Steam Works!
"I have never seen a real fire before. It's scary". Kevin's voice trembling as he spoke. He couldn't help but stare at the flames when they were leaving.
Percy smiled a little, trying to reassure him. "It's ok your safe and now we need to save the Steam works".
Gordon blew his whistle a loud as he could."Then follow me!"
The engines all raced out to save the Steam Works.
...
Later that night
With the crisis with the Diesels over and everything back to normal. The Steam engines were listening to Percy's tale and what happened with Thomas and how Gordon helped.
Percy said sorry again for what must seem like the 100th time. The little blue tank engine just smiled and chuckled and said it was ok. Thomas said sorry too for making Percy feel left out when he spent time with Bell. He told him that no matter how busy he was, Percy will always be his best friend. It made the little green engine feel better.
"I know the diesels just did it cause they wanted to have a better place to live but to go that far and keep you prisoner Thomas". It made Edward the kind old engine shiver.
The rest of the engines agreed and still felt angry for what happened. Especially Gordon, still remembering how scared the little engine looked and that cry he gave when Dan bashed into him.
"Gordon"
Thomas's gentle voice brought him out of his angry and he looked at him. His sweet smile made him feel happy.
"I wanted to say thank you again for saving me. I mean it and for making me feel better. I was scared but seeing how fearless you were. You made me strong"
The big engine found himself blushing at Thomas's kind words and looked off. "Ah well I just hate others picking on you"
James snorted. "I'm surprised since you usually argue with Thomas or get annoyed at him for calling you lazybones or slow spoke".
The others were quick to agree and laughed together.
Gordon interrupted them. "Yes yes! I may get annoyed at times, it's true but he is still my friend and I will always be there for him and for all of you too"
Thomas smiled at him and the other engines whistled. Everyone liking what the big proud engine said.
