SUMMARY: Naruto Namikaze, A DEVGRU Navy SEAL gets injured in battle. After a year of recovery he is allowed back into the team. He goes to a starbucks with his Team Leader and 2IC to see a face from the past. What if Fate intervined and this wasnt the first encounter?

War... the bloodiest and most violent form of diplomacy. Many countries participate in it for money or propaganda and sometimes they join in just for the fun of it. This is not the case however, this war was brought on by a terrorist attack causing the US to retaliate.
The war cost a lot of lives on both sides, but that doesn't stop this spec ops team from doing their job to protect their homeland.
"RPG! Balcony left side!" A young man shouted over the radio to 6 others. The 6 men looked out from cover and all quickly took a single shot towards an enemy covered in cloth holding a Rocket propelled Grenade. 2 shots hit the platform he was on before he took 3 shots, 2 to the chest and one to his left eye. The force of the bullets hitting him was enough to make him fall off the platform he was on, dropping to the ground.
"Bravo team, we need to hold on!" a man with blond hair said as he turned the corner and opened fire on the soldiers that were pushing onto their position. "Where is Alpha team sir?" He asked the man to his left side.
The man in question looked older than the rest of the soldiers but not by much, he looked at the blond haired man. "I don't know Naruto, They should be here soon! Because if they aren't we will be too dead to care."
"Yeah well Jace it is bullshit! We are holding off an attack on an embassy alone!" a man named Sonny shouted as he put his M249 SAW onto the cover and started to fire several rounds towards the enemy, luckily one of them was hit in the shoulder and chest successfully killing the man. He went back to cover as 2 bullets hit the sandbags where he was just seconds before.
"I get that Sonny! But we need to hold this area! Ray and Clay are in their sniper positions laying down cover fire and are monitoring the channels!" Jace said as he peaked up with his HK 416 AR and rapidly shot 4 rounds at the incoming enemy. Naruto put in a new mag into his M4A1 and started to shoot, successfully killing 2 men that were out of cover.
As the group of 3 stayed guarding the front gate. The 2 snipers, Ray and Clay, were on the embassy's rooftop overlooking the alley where the enemy was coming down, shooting anyone who was out of cover for more than 5 seconds. It wasn't long before the radio broke the two mens silence however.
"Bravo team is Alpha 1. We are around the corner, save some fun for us yeah?" Alpha 1 started getting Clay to chuckle.
"It's so like him to say something ridiculous like that huh?" Clay questioned as he shot his HK 416 with a 14.5 Inch barrel and fitted with a suppressor. He had a long range scope on his weapon to help Ray in long distance engagements.
Ray snickered as he shot his M110 sniper rifle, hitting an enemy in the head. "Yeah, You know Full Metal. Has more fun in a firefight then he does fighting." Ray states as the pair heard footsteps approaching from behind. Ray turned to see Alpha's snipers approaching and setting up next to them.
"Hello boys, mind if we set up next to you?"
"Not at all Alpha 2. Welcome to the party." Clay says as he gets up, "I'm heading down to The rest of the team. I have a bad feeling."
With him saying those words, Both teams felt a chilling feeling in the wind as if massive danger was coming. Jace turned the corner to fire but soon realized that the enemy was retreating.
"YEAH RUN BACK!" Sonny yells as Naruto stands up with his group from cover.
"Sonny enough." Jace says as he looks around including the rooftops. Pressing his radio, he spoke into it. "Havok base this is 1."
"Copy 1, What do you need?" A female voice came through the radio. Naruto lightly elbowed Sonny in the belly with a smile, getting the Texan SEAL to blush slightly while swatting him away as Clay laughed a bit at the interaction.
"Do you got anything on the ISR? The forces are retreating and we don't know why." Jason states with clear worry. "Ray, do you have anything on the rooftops?" He asks while turning around to look at his brother in all but blood. Ray yells no back to him as the radio comes back to life for Jason.
"Negative 1, we don't see an... One second we picked up a large object, and its movin... BRAVO TEAM RUN NOW! THEY SENT OUT MISSILES! GET OUT NOW!" Her voice is clear in fear and worry. Naruto's eyes widened as he looked up to Ray and the alpha team instantly jumped from the roof to the second floor before jumping down to the first floor as everyone started to run from the building. They were lucky they cleared it completely 20 minutes ago but now it was a lost cost. They ran from the building but were too quick to ready their weapons when 6 combatants appeared from the dark alley and shot 3 Alpha team members instantly killing them.
Naruto immediately took cover just as the missile shot overhead and hit the building that was now 3 blocks away. However the payload was enough to destroy the embassy entirely while also destroying the first block. The shockwave from the explosion sent everyone to their knees while blowing the enemy combatants onto their asses, completely unaware of what happened.
Naruto was the first one up as he ran forward and immediately shot and killed the 6 combatants. Turning to the rest of the group, He widened his eyes as he saw the last guy come around from behind them. He ran forward and got in front of Jason but was unable to fire at the enemy as Naruto took 3 rounds to his chest and one to his left arm. During the mass confusion, the man ran forward with a large knife and slashed Naruto with it, successfully cutting him from his right shoulder to his left hip.
Grunting, Naruto punched the man in the throat and in quick succession once the man was off balance, grabbed the man by his jaw and the top of his head and quickly broke his neck. The total time elapsed was a minute at most as everyone got their bearings. They all heard a thud as they all looked at Naruto who collapsed. Ray told Alpha to get their men while they got Naruto. Ray turned to Brock and Sonny and told them to help Alpha while he ran to Naruto with Clay while Trent and Jason were working on him the best they could.
"Boss, he needs immediate surgery. The knife was a deep cut and he was shot four times. We need to get him to a hospital. All I can do is make temporary fixes. He needs help within the next 24 hours. I can wrap him up for the flight but then we'll need to get him to the hospital." Trent says as Naruto holds his hand out.
"Then get me up, I'll make it." Naruto said as he stood up before passing out causing the members to go into critical overdrive.
A year has passed since that day and Naruto has fully healed and finished his Physical Therapy sessions. He was out with Jason and Ray getting coffee before their meeting at the Naval base in 2 hours. They walked in with smiles and laughter from Ray's joke.
"Order for Pamela!" A woman with Platinum blond hair called out. She noticed that three more people came in making it a total of 9 people in line. She sighed before perking back up with a smile.
A latina woman walked up with a smile and took the order, even tipping $3 for the nice service. She called out more names while peaking at the newest arrivals. 3 huge looking men, All 3 smiling and seemingly having a fun time. When they got to the cashier, SHe heard them put in their orders but decided to ignore it as she called out the last of the orders. Only leaving the 3 men and one other guy who looked incredibly angry.
"Order for Rick?" The woman called out, praying it wasn't the angry man but god was against her today. The angry man walked up and started complaining about how he waited for 6 minutes for a simple drink and all she could say was sorry and that they were busy in the drive thru.
"I DON'T WANT LAME ASS EXCUSES YOU BITCH!" he shouted and raised his hand to hit her. She closed her eyes with a flinch but didn't feel any impact. She opened her eyes to see that the blond haired man grabbed the man's wrist. She could tell that it hurt when she looked at Rick's face seeing him wincing heavily.
"I'm gonna say this once. Leave this establishment now before you get severely hurt." He commanded. Rick simply nodded his head and then his wrist was let go. The man took his leave immediately as Naruto turned to the girl. He smiled softly but sadly as he looked at her nametag. "I'm sorry Ino. He was out of place to get angry like that." He said as he went back to his friends. Ino noticed the sad look in his eyes and smile but thought it was for her. She smiled softly and thanked him as she made him his order. She called out each of their names slowly to see what his name was and when she called Naruto, he walked forward and she smiled. Until she noticed the tiny scar above his left eye. She widened her eyes and grabbed his wrist from across the counter.
"Wait… Are you by chance… Naruto Namikaze?" Ino asked the blond which caused him to widen his eyes slightly. He turned around to look her in the eyes. Ray and Jason turned around looking at the exchange.
"Hey Jace, What do you think of that?" Ray questioned, getting Jason to chuckle.
"Ill tell you, a hidden past coming to the surface."
Naruto looked at her eyes, "Ino? As in Ino Yamanaka?" She nodded her head slowly and he backed away slowly. "No, It can't be." He turned around, putting his hands over his face in worry. Before she could comment, Ray and Jason quickly grabbed him before the PTSD kicked in.
"Ray tip her a good amount."
Ray ran up to her and gave her a $50 bill, "I'm sorry Miss, We have to go. Here is something for your troubles." As soon as he said that, he left with Naruto and Jason, leaving Ino standing there to wonder what had happened to him.
After an hour had gone by, Ino was told to take her break which she took quickly. She sat down in one of the chairs outside the shop, with a Pumpkin spice latte in her hands and smiled feeling the warm air on her skin. Virginia is never disappointing with weather. She took a sip of her drink and looked at her phone. Going to her facebook, she looked through her old High school pictures and found the ones with Sakura, Hinata and Shikamaru and eventually found one of her kissing a surprised Naruto on the lips at the big highschool party for being their highschool rivals during the football game.
She remembered how the night ended. After she kissed him, she dragged him to one of the vacant rooms and the two slept together in senior year. She remembered his ripped body and blushed at the memory. She smiled at the old memory before she remembered that he joined the Navy afterwards and no one heard from him. She wanted to ask him what happened and to catch up but seeing the scar and the way he reacted, she was scared about what had happened.
She sighed as the timer on her phone went off, signaling that her break had ended. She thought of the pros and cons of this crappy job but decided the pros outweigh the cons. Mainly due to her college degree. She only had to hold out for one more year and she'll be able to teach. Ino drank the last of her latte before going inside the Starbucks to finish the last of her shift that was for another 2 hours.
"Are you doing okay Brother?" Ray questioned as soon as he got into Jason's 2019 GMC Sierra truck. They just left the starbucks in a hurry when Naruto was about to get an anxiety attack but when he got into the truck, he grabbed his necklace from the center console and held it tightly in his hand to try and comfort himself. After a minute or two, He looked up at Ray.
"Yeah, I'm good. I'm sorry you two, I wasn't prepared for that." Naruto explained. Jason stopped at a red light and turned to Naruto who was in the shotgun seat.
"You hardly get these attacks unless it was something important. So tell us what happened between you and Ino. Your therapist stated that you do need to vent to prevent anything from happening so do it." Jason said in his Bravo 1 voice, leaving Naruto with no room for debate.
He sighed as he looked at the necklace he had. "It was middle school, I was doing Martial arts training and I was training for the future of my life. I was in 7th grade when I first met Ino. She came into class and proclaimed her love for this one classmate who just at the time didn't care for women." He chuckled as he continued.
"However instead of pursuing him like all the other girls who kept getting him flowers and proclaiming love to him daily. She just joined the cheerleader squad and ignored him. In 8th grade we had most of our classes together so it was kind of impossible not to talk to each other, fast forward to Junior year and we were very close friends. We practically did everything together, it got to the point where we watched movies at each other's houses all night long. Our parents let us have sleepovers cause they knew we wouldn't do anything like that but they were right at the time.
In senior year, We just beat our rivals in football, 28 to 6. So we had a party at one of our friends' houses. It was there that changed a lot for us. Not only did she kiss me and say how much she liked me but we proceeded to take each other's virginities that night. We ended up doing it a few more times until graduation. Where I enlisted immediately and tried out for BUD/S and then at 19, Had the honor and privilege to join the elites on Bravo team." Naruto finished his story just as they pulled into the parking lot for the Naval base.
The Three got out of the car and headed towards the main building. "Interesting story brotha, but I'm assuming you ran away from your life? Leaving her behind?" Raay asked as they got to a conference room. They put their cell phones into a holder next to the door and headed into the room as Naruto nodded his head at Ray's question.
"Well if it isn't sleeping beauty. Welcome back to the team!" Sonny said with his arms raised with a laugh. Naruto smiled as he hugged Sonny while everyone gathered around him.
They all chatted with him until Commander Blackburn came into the room. "Alright everyone, take a seat. We have to get this meeting finished so that way Bravo 1, 2, and 3 can go pick out a new member for our team due to Trent and Brock leaving due to their enlistment forms being expired." At the mention of this, Everyone threw a paper ball at the two of them while they laughed, including Blackburn. After a moment, Blackburn continued with the meeting. "Alright, let's get into this meeting."
"Okay Jason. It's official. Blackburn likes to torture me." Naruto complained, getting Jason to laugh. "Not even 10 minutes in and he started using big and small wording. Confusing all of us and then got into boring details of Alpha's AAR's. You know he was toying with me." He said tiredly.
"Well of course, he couldn't visit you much while you were in PT so he is making up for lost time." Jason said as he, Ray, and Naruto walked to a smaller room, where multiple team leaders were with their second and third in command. "Sorry for being late, Blackburn was telling us of Alpha's detailed AAR about how a robot dog works." Jason said while everyone laughed.
"Hey, I almost fell asleep and you know what he does to people who sleep during meetings. I thought I was a good prankster back in the day… But he is just cruel." Naruto said, shivering at it.
"Oh come on Naruto I'm not that bad." Blackburn said walking in with a folder in his grip. Naruto instinctually leapt to the other side of his team leader who gently patted his head.
"Chill out… He can smell fear." Jason said as Everyone laughed again before getting down to business. Naruto sat down as everyone went into serious mode.
Blackburn put up a few pictures on the wall, "So these are the new DEVGRU operators. They have all passed. Now all they need is a team. So what do you all say?"
Jason, Alpha and Echo all started debating the pro's and cons of each of their attitudes while everyone else listened intently. Naruto however looked at their specialties to figure out what the best person for the squad would be. He knew they couldn't have another sniper, but with Trent leaving there would be a medic position open along with a K9 handler but he was fairly certain that role would be provided. So he looked for weapon expertise and any medic knowledge of all the candidates.
"Hey Jace, Why not pick Sam? He has medic training and is a close range fighter so he can take over Trent's spot and he also has Dog handling experience." He said as Jason and Ray looked over his file, since Bravo squad had first pick they had to choose wisely. Jason looked over his qualifications while Ray smirked.
"He's got a point Jace. The kid may not be top marks in the class but from the sounds of it he is a good deal."
"You sure? Kid isn't top of his class." Alpha 1 started with a chuckle. "He could be a horrible team player for all you know."
"So what if he isn't top of the class? It'll be easier for us cause he won't be cocky about it and he'll be level headed. As for being a team player, we'll focus on that. He'll be one soon enough."
Jason looked back at the photo of Sam and smirked. "Good work Naruto. He is your catch so you break him in. Let's go to the paintball arena for some training."
With that being said, Naruto smiled and took his phone out seeing a facebook notification. He hardly ever used it ever since it was hacked in highschool. He made a new account but didn't add anyone. He opened the notification and saw the friend request was from one person. The person being Ino.
