Chapter 1

"For numerous reasons, it's inappropriate." Ryoma waved his hands.

"Hmmm…Is that so?"

"As manager, I represent Bamboo Forest's image. If our customers found out I wasn't prioritizing their business, they'd reconsider having their laundry washed here."

"Foresighted as always. You'd be the best person to work under on Earth. Gimul may have never heard of employee welfare before, but compared to the transferee who brought a shotgun into Seilfall, what you've imported has improved lives! Good wages, free living arrangements and meals provided, magic healthcare coverage…You're practically a saint!"

It didn't matter Ryoma was addressing a god. His ability to judge people was more polished than the clothes his cleaner slimes cleansed (though Guild Master Glisella claimed her ability outshined his).

"You're softening me up."

"With the truth. Maybe a little, yeah."

Ryoma breathed.

"I just want the day with you. I came all the way down here! Don't make me regret trading vacation slots with Lulutia! Atlantis, Ryoma-kun! I could've gone to Atlantis again!"

"You passed up sightseeing for me?"

"Uh, duh! So ask your employees to hold down the fort while you're away. Ask the two with 'military training' to handle crowd control on the chance turnout is beyond expectation. You've done everything to ensure they don't suffer the conditions you suffered as an underpaid drone in your workplace back on Earth. It's time to heed your own advice. Stop pulling overtime. We gave you a second wind in life so you could live it!"

"I don't know…"

"The world can get by a day without Ryoma Takebayashi, as it can without me," the god stated.

"Manager, do not worry about the shop. It is with utmost gratitude we invite you to take a day of rest."

"Carla-san? Callum-san?"

"Indeed. You've been working so hard. You deserve it."

"That's what we're here for, Manager!"

"Fei-san. Li Ling-san."

"Safe travels!"

"Fina-san. Maria-san. Jane-san."

"We're in agreement! You're taking time off with me!"

"K-Kufo! You don't have to rush!"

The last they saw was the green and purple of Kufo's scarf slipping through the door, a startled Ryoma pushed ahead of him.

"Does anybody know who that kid was?"

"The manager's special someone…I believe," Callum answered Jane.

"They were using a lot of words I didn't understand," his sister raised.

"Children in this day and age." Fei tapped his broom. "They speak a language of their own."
