Chapter 1:

Lady Chaos, for the lack of better word, was annoyed.

Back in the day she had created Yaldabaoth and Mekhane, she had expected them to take her place in watching over the brand new world she had created. And the result? They had led their followers to wage wars against each other to the point she had to "scrap" said world.

Letting out an irked huff, Lady Chaos shot the two "watchers" a look of distaste. Even now, Yaldabaoth, in the form of an abhorrent beast, was howling in madness. Its claw relentlessly hit against the bars of the cage that Mekhane created out of herself to hold it.

With a snap of her finger, the dark silver cage slowly turned into dust. Seeing its cage had disappeared, the beast howled in triumph. But the moment its eyes met its creator, the abomination let out painful cries as it could feel itself being torn apart until only bits of otherworldly fleshes were left behind.

"Such disappointment."

With an exasperated sigh, the first deity briefly eyed the hazy pile of silver dust and the remaining pile of fleshes before her mind wandered to a sphere of energy floating near her throne. After the planet she had assigned to her two former servants was pretty much uninhabitable, she still managed to savage quite some energy after "scrapping" said to send these back to her Primordial Soup…

"Wait."

Suddenly, a thought came to her mind as her gaze was directed back to two piles of her former servants' remains. Perhaps…

"RIght..."

Feeling the creator's blood rose in her, Lady Chaos distractedly waved her dedicated hand toward her late servants' remains as her mind was flooded with ideas.

*Huff* *Huff* *Huff*

It was only 5 in the morning, only few had woken up at this time. And one of them was running on the street now. His worn out grey hoodie did barely minimum to protect him against the early morning cold. His trousers had tears at the knees and not because of fashion reasons. His running shoes looked like they were ready to go straight to the garbage bin at any moment.

"Another one."

Without stopping his run, the person took out a newspaper out of the bag and put it in the mailbox. He still had quite a number of papers needed to be delivered. And without a bicycle, time wasn't exactly on his side.

"Hey, Aizawa-kun. Early bird as usual, heh?"

As he came close to a fish store, the elder man with an apron waved at him as he approached the counter. While the hoodie managed to partially cover his upper face, it couldn't prevent the bandage on his left cheek from appearing on his reflection on the counter's glass.

"Good morning, Shima-san." he nodded with a small smile "Here's your newspaper."

"Thanks, kid." The old man chuckled jovially before the young man in the grey hoodie took off. He needed to pick up his speed if he wanted to have ample time to take a shower and get clean.

(LB)

"Should it be…?"

Lady Chaos was deep in thought as her left elbow leaned against the throne she was sitting on. Her right hand was absentmindedly combing her midnight black wavy hair. Her eyes were scrutinizingly scanning the floating prototype as her mind was too busy weighing multiple ideas at the same time.

"... Nah."

With a wave of her hand, the prototype was scrapped and returned to its original components.

(LB)

"Gggrrrrhhh!"

Gritting his teeth, the young man tried his best to stiff his painful grunt as he peeled the bandage off his face. The pain when he removed the bandage was almost just as bad as when he got the burn.

"*sigh* Hello, my friend."

With a tired sigh, he lazily looked at the burned, twisted skin on his reflection's left cheek with his abyss-liked dark eyes. What a memento.

"Ugh."

Slowly, the black hair teen cleaned the dark twisted skin and applied the new bandage on his face. Even though he was used to this, a mute grumble of discomfort still came out of him as the fabric of the new bandage made contact with his burned mark.

Then again, it was better to be clean than comfortable.

"Done."

Breathing out a sigh of relief, he casted one last glance at the reflection of his now he before extending his hand toward his hanging uniform. Of all the clothes he possessed, his school uniforms were literally the best clothes he had.

"Well, another day in my journey to achieve 'the key'." He said to himself jokingly in an attempt to cheer himself up.

(LB)

"Hm. Not so shabby."

Appraisingly eyeing the crimson gauntlet she had created, Lady Chaos hummed to herself. The crimson color of Yaldabaoth's flesh gave the gauntlet an ominous aura while the silver lining created by Mekhane gave the gauntlet a majestic sensation. However…

"Hm, the power is still too underwhelming for my taste."

With that in mind, she put her index finger on the left side of the gauntlet and poured a miniscule fragment of her power in it.

(LB)

"Yo, Shinjuku-san!"

The loud obnoxious voice of his friend made him sigh. His jolly and chubby friend, Sakuragi Hajime, was not someone who knew how to control his voice volume.

"Good morning."

For some reason, his bombastic friend seemed chirpier than normal, if that wide smile indicated anything..

"Hehe. Good morning to you, too."

"What's with the wide smile?" He could feel his eyebrows rise a little bit. "Something good happened?"

Hajime wiggled his index finger.

"Not 'happened', but 'will happen'." Hajime pushed his glasses up. "My reporter instinct told me that I may get quite a juicy scoop today!"

The answer made him snort in amusement. The vice-president of the newspaper club was full of himself today.

"Your instinct again? Then it means there won't be any scoop today."

Apparently, his answer was like a cold bucket of water pouring directly at Hajime as his friend cried outrageously.

"Come on, man! Why can't you believe my reporter instinct for once?"

"Because your so-called 'reporter instinct' is, no offense, just bad. Remind me how many times your 'reporter instinct' has actually helped you so far?"

He was serious. If his friend truly wanted to chase a reporter career, he really needed to improve his so-called "reporter instinct". The last time when Hajime had claimed he smelt a scoop, the result had been one heck of an embarrassment.

"Well…" His friend muttered awkwardly and slumped his shoulders. "None."

However, his enthusiasm quickly returned in full force.

"But this time, I know it will be different."

Seeing that his friend's mind had already been set, he could only shrug.

"If you said so."

(LB)

"Finally done. What a masterpiece."

Nodding her head in satisfaction, Lady Chaos removed her finger from the gauntlet. The perfect combination of flesh, machine and power. Now what name should she bestow it?

"... Chaos Legion."

The moment the name came out of her luscious lips, the floating gauntlet shuddered slightly before an otherworldly sigil burned into the gauntlet.

And now, she needed a place to test its power.

With another wave of her hand, countless images of worlds she has created so far appeared around her throne. Some she had barely spent a century looking after them before moving on. Some she had grown attached to and spent a few millenia watching over before taking her leave. But which one to choose…

"Let's see..."

Raising her hand to cover her eyes, Lady Chaos started pointing randomly as the worlds' images rapidly spun around her.

"Eeny, meeny, miny, meow,

Catch a kitty by the tail.

If she hollers, let she go,

Eeny, meeny, miny, meow."

(LB)

"Here you are, Aizawa-san."

"Thank you, sensei."

As his homeroom teacher handed him the first test of his third year, he released a sigh of relief that he had unknowingly held back. 91 points.

"Good start for my final year." He muttered to himself. In order to maintain his scholarship, his average term score was not allowed to fall below 90.

And this result certainly gave him a confidence boost.

"The one with the highest score on this test is Gremory-san." said the homeroom teacher after she returned to the teachers' front desk. "Congratulations."

This was no surprise for him. Since the first and second year, the one getting the highest score would always be either the redhead beauty or her best friend, Himejima Akeno.

"Thank you, sensei."

He barely heard the reply of his red-haired classmate as his mind was still occupied with the image of the Two Great Ojou-sama of Kuoh Academy. Since he was still a hormone-raging male teen, he couldn't help but think about what it would be like to be the boyfriend of either of them. Aside from their stunning looks, those two seemed kind to everyone else, didn't act high and mighty, and helped others with earnestness as far as he could tell. And while Rias had an aura of kindness and compassion, Akeno had a graceful air of a traditional Yamato Nadeshiko surrounding her. What was not to like?

"Nah."

An unnoticeable chuckle escaped his lips as he mused to himself. He would probably be dumped before the first week ended.

After all, the faint smell of luxurious perfumes coming from the two beauties sitting behind him was always there, reminding him of the difference between his world and the world they probably lived in.

(LB)

Unbeknownst to the world and its population, the Creator of All appeared in the midst of people travelling on Vatican's street. If her memory was correct, she had spent around a millennium or two on this world before moving on.

Perhaps she should visit those calling themselves "Olympians" later on? She must admitted that she was curious about them, given what they had done and the fact that they had hailed the watcher she had assigned to this world as "Chaos". It was quite amusing, she must said.

"Maybe later."

Looking into how much this world has changed would be more interesting. Besides, she had more important business to attend to.

"Now..." Lady Chaos' abyss-liked dark eyes swept around her surroundings "...Let's see who should I give this to..."

(LB)

Time flew quickly and it was lunchtime. Normally, this time was the time for the second meal of the day. But for him, this was the time for the first meal of the day.

"Ah, that was nice."

Even though his meal was only a modest bento box of cheap rice with no food, having something to fill the stomach was better than nothing at all.

"9 more hours until my second meal... Woe for me."

With a dispirited sigh, he leaned back against the trunk of the tree he sat under. After making himself comfortable, he fished out a handbook along with a short pencil from his pocket. It was time to work with the figures.

"Tsk." He couldn't help but click his teeth in annoyance. Not only losing his afternoon's part-time job, this month's expenses have increased more than he would have liked. He needed to find a new part-time job and take out a bit from the budget for his future surg...

"Senpai! You won't believe what happened yesterday!"

Before his thought could go any further, the loud voice of one of the infamous Perverted Trio of Kuoh had stopped it dead in its track. Seriously, why didn't most of his acquaintances know how to control their voice volume?

"First, please tone down your volume, Hyoudou-san."

His request was met with a salute from the brown hair underclassman.

"Yes, senpai!"

An exasperated sigh escaped his lips as he put away his handbook. After he had inadvertently saved Hyoudou Issei from hordes of angry female students not one, but three times in the previous school year, the pervert practically looked at him with an unhealthy dose of worshipment in his eyes. And to "repay the life debt", the pervert had sworn that he would turn him into "one of the two greatest Harem Kings".

Needless to say, no word could describe how baffled he had been after hearing such a depraved oath like that.

And much to his horror, Issei has taken his oath very seriously. Whenever Issei managed to find him, the brown-haired second year student would shower him with tales, "knowledge" and the joy of harem and female boobs. According to Issei, teaching him all of those was the first necessary step the brunette needed to do in order to make him into "one of the two greatest Harem Kings '' in the future. It took him a week of suffering through Issei's nauseating entertainment to finally learn how to completely shut off the second-year's perverse preachings.

On the bright side, at least he hasn't heard any rumor saying he was a pervert because of his... 'friendship' with Issei. Yet.

"Senpai, may I have permission to speak now?"

He let out a dry snort at Issei's poor attempt to mimic a soldier before giving his underclassman a tight nod.

"Senpai, a girl just confessed to me yesterday! Her name's Amano Yuuma!"

It took his brain three seconds to fully register what the pervert had just said. And the first thing he could say was...

"... Huh?"

Issei let out a comical cry after hearing his unintelligent reply.

"It's real, senpai! I swear on my treasure that Yuuma-chan confessed to me yesterday! Her oppai…!"

He had to raise his hand up in order to stop Issei from talking any further. While he could… tolerate the brunette's absurd zeal toward the female chest, he had no desire to gain a migraine by hearing the pervert's non-stop ramblings over oppai this early.

Unlike Hajime who knew when to stop, once the pervert started talking about boobs, not even an apocalypse could make him stop.

"My apology, your announcement took me by surprise. Congratulations, I guess?".

To be fair, who wouldn't be surprised? Issei has always been a public enemy of Kuoh Academy's female population. And yesterday, a girl had come out and said she liked the brunette. The rumor mill of the academy was going to have one hell of a field day with this piece of news.

Now that he thought about it, he wondered whether "One of the Perverted Trio just got a girlfriend" could be considered as a scoop by Hajime's standard. If it qualified, this would be the first time his fat friend's "reporter instinct" was right.

Shame.

"Really?!" Issei immediately perked up after hearing his half-hearted praise, an idiotic smile could be seen on his face now. "Thank you, senpai! Unlike my two comrades-in-arm, you're the true bro! Oh, Yuuma-chan is really beautiful with big oppai... "

Deciding to ignore the pervert for the sake of his sanity, he let out a mixed sigh. To be honest, if one ignored Issei's glaring flaws, the brunette was an okay guy. Therefore, he was truly happy for his underclassman. At the same time, considering what he has seen from Issei so far, he couldn't help but wonder if the brunette could build a happy relationship or not.

Then again, he has never had a girlfriend. Therefore, he had no experience in romantic relationships with fairer sex and had no right to judge others' relationship.

Besides, who said Issei couldn't become a better man after having a girlfriend? Sure, the chance was so minute that it made his chance of winning the Loto 7's Grand Prize look high, but that didn't mean it couldn't happen.

…. At least he hoped so.

"Hey Buchou." The voice of Akeno brough Rias back to the Occult clubroom they were sitting in "It's your turn."

"Right." said Rias absentmindedly as she picked up a piece. "Check."

Rias's distracted look couldn't escape Akeno's sharp eyes as the black hair beauty moved her pawn up.

"What's on your mind, Buchou?"

Putting down her bishop piece, the redhead picked up her cup and took a sip from it.

"Just a stray thought came to my mind."

The dismissive answer did little to stop Akeno from continuing her questioning.

"Oh? Was it about Hyoudou-kun? Or..." Akeno's tone became teasing "... Was it about Aizawa-san?"

"Wrong on both tries." Snorted Rias "And why do you even bring up Aizawa-san anyway?"

Akeno's eyes immediately adopted a twinkling look.

"Perhaps because I noticed your eyes followed him when the class ended today?"

The Gremory heiress just shrugged nonchalantly.

"I'm just surprised that he didn't dash out of the room right after the class ended like usual."

"So you noticed that too." hummed Akeno as she considered her next move. "Ever since the start of second year, Aizawa-san has always been the first one dashing out of class. This was the first time I saw him take his time to leave the class like that."

Rias could feel her eyebrows rise up a little bit at her Queen's words.

"I didn't know you have been keeping track of our classmate's leaving time and tendency."

.

"Well, he's the only one in the male population of our class who doesn't have cow-eyes or becomes a gibbering mess whenever he interacts with one of us. It's almost a guarantee that he will gain our attention sooner or later. Am I right?"

Rias had to admit that Akeno wasn't wrong. Aizawa Shinjuku had gained the attention of the Gremory heiress with what her Queen had said. At the same time, the redhead was somewhat curious about his left cheek, which has been covered by a patch of bandage ever since the first day of his first year. So far, no one has managed to find out anything more than an evasive "just a wound" answer from the black hair teen.

Also, she certainly didn't notice him because her classmate looked actually kinda cool with his bandage on his cheek. Nuh uh. Not at all, Even if he looked almost like in that Bongu Stray Cats episode 14, when Dasamu Ozai was wounded and had to wear a bandage on his left cheek.

Anyway,...

"What you said still doesn't really explain why you..."

Suddenly, before Rias could finish her sentence, she felt a pull of summoning coming from the leaflet her familiar had given to Issei. Shaking her head slightly, the Gremory heiress stood up from her seat.

"It seems like Hyoudou-san has called me. Consider this game a draw."

"Sure thing, Buchou. I will see you later." Said Akeno, her playful tone barely concealed the malicious edge in the second sentence. "And try to kill that fallen angel if you can~"

Lady Chaos was, for the lack of better words, intrigued.

When she appeared at the destination her creation had pointed to, she was greeted with the sight of a red-haired devil girl using some kind of pieces to bring a dead human boy back to life and in the process, changing him into the same species as her. To think a species has developed to the point of possessing the knowledge and the means to convert other species into their own.

A development that certainly exceeded her initial expectation when she first set foot on this world again.

As the devil and the newly revived boy disappeared, the Creator turned away and continued to follow the direction her latest creation was pointing to. After a minute of leisurely walking, she was greeted with the sight of a decapitated male corpse. Sizzling smoke rose from three fist-sized holes on the torso and where the now non-existent neck would connect to the body and the head. Blood pooled on the ground and dyed the corpse's white shirt a sickening shade of dark crimson.

"Already dead?" Mused Lady Chaos "Why would you choose this human, my creation?"

After a second perusing the corpse, Lady Chaos touched the head's forehead.

"Ah."

Fascination marred on the Creator of Worlds as she withdrew her finger. Oh how long had it been since the last time she had found the other aspect of her.

This human… He was the zero.

The Void Bearer.

Gently picking up the head, Lady Chaos carefully laid it down at where the neck would have been. With a flick of her finger, a crimson orb of light raging with power appeared above the corpse.

"Welcome back to life, dear." Droplets of marron lights began pouring down from the orb onto the corpse as she whispered almost silkily "And for now, I will be your patron."
