Dire Choices

Zara Cooper stared at the new bill from the apartment she was leasing, her landlord was increasing the rent money again. She was laid off from work because of this insane virus going around, and she was so tired of everything right now.

She turned her head as she watched her little brother setting up for another movie marathon Transformers. She believed it was the 4th movie he was putting on she enjoyed the movies and had to say she had a favorite character, Optimus Prime. She knew her brother liked both Optimus and Bumblebee.

"Hey, are you ready?" Tommy asked his big sister.

She smiled then.

"Yeppers Peppers," she said with a big grin as someone banged on the door.

Zara frowned, they weren't expecting anyone of course because of the virus. So, she was not sure who it would be, so, she carefully opened the door. She gasped as she saw the most gorgeous and massive Easter basket addressed to both her and Tommy.

She gently picked it up and saw the card was only sighed from A.T. as she racked her brains trying to figure out who A.T. was. Zara and Tommy were all each other had because their parents had died in a plane accident, and the rest of their family was gone. So, unfortunately, they were all that each other had because of that a very sad reality.

"Come on, Zara," Tommy said as he got up and spotted the basket. "Who's that form?" he asked.

"Not sure, it just says A.T. and it's for the both of us," she replied.

Tommy shrugged as he grabbed a crème Cadbury egg, and popped it into his mouth.

"Mmmm, it's good, have one," he said as she rolled her eyes but grabbed one anyway.

Zara loved chocolate. It was a terrible addiction to her. She would eat it all the time, and lucky for her she never gained any weight from it.

"Put the basket on the table while we watch Transformers Age of Extinction, okay?" Tommy asked as she nodded.

"Cool," Tommy answered as he got the remote, and Zara sat by him on the sofa.

Zara smiled sadly, as she couldn't help but think of their current situation. She got laid off from work, and instead of helping the landlord made things worse by increasing the rent. She kept thinking of their situation they had no one else but each other now. She hated it here the governments pushing for things they had no business pushing for.

She glanced at the Bible, and her mind wandered once more. She and Tommy were Christians. She also knew things would get worse, and she was willing to protect her little brother from any evil at any cost.

"Ready?" Tommy asked.

"For what?" Zara questioned.

"For Optimus Prime, silly," Tommy said with a giggle as he reached for a marshmallow peep and popped it into his mouth.

"Of course, bring him on!" Zara exclaimed as Tommy nodded and turned the movie on as Zara reached for the Easter basket once more.

"This candy is gonna be the death of me," she mumbled.

Tommy laughed then.

"Yeah, but what a way to go sugar high and bouncing off the walls," Tommy replied as Zara grabbed some jelly beans.

She frowned as she looked at the two shaped and colored jelly beans, they appeared to be red but the color seemed to be getting brighter as she stared at it.

"Tommy, look at these two jelly beans," Zara said as she picked one up and looked at it, and Tommy reached for the other one.

"Wow, cool!" he exclaimed and popped it into his mouth as Zara did the same as both sister and brother started to slowly fall asleep as the movie went fuzzy and a red aura came out of the TV and enveloped them both.

It pulled them right into the TV as an older man appeared with bright blue eyes.

"You are being sent to your new home you must accept your new home with grace I hope you can do that," the older man said as he abruptly disappeared out of sight.
