Quick author's note: Sorry for the lack of uploads! I'm crafting more stories for all you wonderful people- here's a one-shot because I felt I needed to publish something-
The trainer grasped her Pokeball, huffing. "Aerodactyl, you fought well." The opposing trainer sneered, 'That's all you've got? Thought you'd be better than this. We both left Pallet Town at the same time- So why am I so much better than you, Elaine?" Instead of looking offended, Elaine instead flashed a smirk. "I haven't even started yet. I may have one Pokemon remaining, but it's the Pokemon I trained with all my heart, Trace." Trace snickered. "That stupid Eevee? You never even use it to battle." Elane adjusted her glove, letting the Eevee on her head leap down onto her arm. "That Eevee hasn't even evolved yet! I bet you a Pearl that thing doesn't even know Swift." Eevee's face hardened with resolve. 'Ee-bui!' Elaine pet him on the head, before throwing her cap and outstretching her arm- "Eevee! I choose you!" Eevee leaped down, landing with grace. Trace's Raichu snickered, little bits of electricity bristling off its cheeks. "Raichu, use Tackle!" Raichu charged toward Eevee. "Eevee, dodge it!" Elaine yelled. Eevee swiftly dodged the large, clumsy Raichu. "Now use Dig!' Eevee disappeared into the ground, sediment flying as it dug a narrow tunnel. Trace groaned. "Raichu, Quick Attack to avoid it!" Raichu dashed around, but Eevee was still digging. Elaine saw her chance. "Eevee, come up!" Eevee emerged from the ground behind Raichu. "You missed." Trace sneered. Elaine snickered. "Hitting you wasn't my intention. Eevee, Freezy Frost!" Something turned inside Eevee as he shot shards of ice from his mouth. "What's happening?" Trace stammered. "What do you think I bought all those evolution Stones for? Just because Eevee didn't evolve doesn't mean they had no effect." Elaine said, keeping her intense gaze on Trace.
Trace yelled "Raichu, Volt Switch!" A jolt of electricity discharged from Raichu and hit Eevee. "Crap," Elaine muttered. Trace switched out Raichu and sent out his other remaining Pokemon- "Go, Slowbro!" Slowbro clomped onto the battlefield. "Eevee, quickly use Buzzy Buzz before Slowbro inflicts any effects!" Eevee discharged a brilliant bolt of electricity that knocked out Slowbro in one hit. "Good job, Eevee!" Trace groaned. "Seriously?" Elaine snickered. "What did I tell you, Trace? But guess what? I'm coming for your title." A game of cat and mouse ensued when Trace sent out Raichu again. "Eevee, we can do it! Pull through!" Eevee spouted flames from his mouth and finally knocked out Raichu. Elaine ran onto the battlefield and scooped up Eevee. "We did it, buddy." "Ee-bui!" Eevee licked Elaine's face. "I'm the Champion of Kanto, and you're taking your rightful position." "Ee-bui?" "Right next to me." Eevee pulled something out of his neck fur. "Ee-bui?" Elaine fondled the stretched spring. "Thank you." Elaine looked up at Trace who was sulking. "Well?" Trace sighed. "Fine, I guess you deserve it-"
"Trace, don't sulk, my boy!" Professor Oak stepped up the stairs and met the Trainers. "Elaine, it seems you've won, am I correct?" Elaine positioned Eevee on her shoulder. "Yes, that's right." Professor Oak chuckled. "Well well! I was coming to congratulate Trace, but it seems you've won his title before I could even get here!" Trace scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Come with me, Elaine." Professor Oak shouldered Elaine and walked toward a door. He swiped a card and the door opened. "This-" He paused to wipe some dust from the scanner- "-This is the Hall of Fame, where Champions get documented with their Pokemon! That way you can remember the partners who stuck by your side." Elaine gazed in awe at the room for a moment, before walking to the large machine in the room. "Alright, place your Pokeballs here. I'll document Eevee separately since he doesn't have a Pokeball." Elaine placed her Pokeballs one by one in the machine. Venusaur. Crobat. Aerodactyl. Arcanine. Dugtrio. And- "Eevee.'' Elaine murmured, putting her forehead to his. "You know I love all my partners, but you were my first. And undoubtedly the most special." "Eee-bee!"
Elaine climbed up to Indigo Plateau's roof. Shielding her vision with her hand, she looked out on all of Kanto. I finally did it. I became the very best.
