Disclaimer: I do not own my little pony or any of it's character, I do, however, own the following characters, Black Beret, Spiral Star, Starspace, and the other non-canon characters.
Warning: Black Beret sometimes has bad behavior.
My name is Black Beret.
My mom says that when I was born, she took a couple months to give me a name. One day while I was finger painting, my older cousin, Rarity, gave me a black hat which I soon learned was called a "beret". The beret soon became a part of me, leading Mom to naming me Black Beret.
Right now, I'm writing in my story journal.
I love to make art and put on shows for my friends and family. My cousins are Rarity and Sweetie Bell, they will be mentioned a lot because we are very close. (That and Rarity gives me dressmaking lessons)
My dream is to one day perform for Princess Celestia. I love to paint her and write stories about her.
For my first story, I will write about when I got my cutie mark.
...
I was a filly then, and was on my last year at Miss Cheerlie's schoolhouse. I didn't have my cutie mark yet but didn't really care.
I was excited for when I would get my cutie mark, but at the same time, I was concerned, since I liked so many things and didn't want just one as a cutie mark.
One day after school, I came home and threw myself onto my bed, wondering what I would do that day. Since it was Friday, I went to the Park with my friends, Spiral Star and Starspace.
Another thing I do every Friday is stay up late making art. It goes like this, I go straight to my room after dinner, I do some painting, I get ready for bed, I do some crafts, Mom comes into my room and tells me to go to sleep and turns my light out, Mom leaves and I turn the light back on and draw, and finally, I get tired and go to bed.
The next morning after that special Friday, I woke up, got dressed, ate my breakfast, got my pet monkey, Melody, dressed, and went to the Carousel Boutique to help Rarity and Sweetie Bell.
On my way there, I came across a mirror stand, I was fascinated by all the mirrors.
While I looked at my reflection, I noticed a black splotch on my flank that hadn't been there before. I tried to rub it off, but it stayed on.
I then rushed to Rarity's to see if she could remove the splotch.
" Rarity!"
"I'm in my bedroom darling!" A voice replied.
I galloped up to Rarity's bedroom where she was sewing.
"Rarity! There's a black splotch on my flank that won't come off!" I yelled.
Rarity inspected the splotch for a moment.
"Why Beret, that's no splotch, that's your cutie mark!" Rarity exclaimed.
"What is it?"
"A beret!"
I was upset. I wanted a cutie mark, but not one of my hat!
" Can I change my cutie mark?" I asked.
"Why would you want to do that?" Rarity asked.
"Because I don't think a beret has anything to do with my talents"
"Maybe because of your name!"
"If it was, I would've gotten it when I got my name."
I strolled off to the other side of the room.
"Can cutie marks be wrong?" I asked Rarity.
"If there's anything I've learned, it's that cutie marks are made to feel right."
"Well this one sure isn't."
Rarity was silent for a minute.
"Beret, what did you do last night?"
"Let's see, hmm..I did a little more things after dinner then I usually do on Friday nights. I did some dancing, then I did some painting, then I did some crafting, then some drawing, then I did some writing before going to bed."
"I think I know what the beret means!" Rarity exclaimed once again.
"What?"
"Your artistic talent! You love express your creativity and imagination anytime you can, weather it be drawing, writing, crafting, performing or filming!"
"You're right" I exclaimed, "Now, my cutie mark feels right!"
"Now that that's out of the way," Rarity began, "Let's start planning a celebration!"
"DID SOMEPONY SAY CELEBRATION?!" Pinkie Pie yelled, leaping from the closet.
And that's what we did. It was a very fun party and I finally felt like I had moved on in life.
...
So that's the story of how I got my cutie mark. It's been a month since I graduated from Miss Cheerlie's schoolhouse and my birthday's right around the corner.
So, happy reading!
