Proposal

Note: I was going to publish this story after "Journey to the Past & Future" was finished. But since updates are going to be slow and I can't wait that long, so here you are. This story will have spoilers for future chapters of said story.

(Abigail's POV)

*Four years have past since we defeated Dr. Eggman once & for all. A lot of changes have happened. Most of the Mobians still loyal to the Eggman Empire are now in jail. The only people we haven't been able to find were Snively & the Iron Queen. Lacey & I have graduated high school & college. Lacey had gotten a job as an intern at Honey's fashion company in Empire City. I had moved out my parent's house & was living with Shadow in his apartment in Station Square (my Dad did everything to keep me from leaving, even barricading the front door). After the final battle, I decided to hang up my swords & just enjoy my new peaceful life. Little did I know, that my life was once again about to make a big change*

*I had a blindfold over my eyes & Shadow was pulling me along somewhere*

Abigail: Shadow, where are we going?

Shadow:*off-screen* You'll see. We're almost there. *as we walked, I could hear myself stepping on metal. after two minutes of walking, we stopped* Okay. You can take off the blindfold now. *I took it off & gasped when I saw myself standing in a very familiar metal hallway**on-screen* Do you remember this place?

Abigail: Yes. This is where we first met six years ago.

*Shadow pulled me into a hug*

Shadow: A lot has happened since that day.

Abigail: And so much has changed.

Shadow: Well, I can think of one thing that hasn't and will never change. *he stroked my cheek* I love you just as much now as the very first time I laid eyes on you.

*I nodded*

Abigail: I feel like the same way, Shadow.

Shadow: Abby, I have something to ask you.

Abigail: What is it?

*At first, he was quiet. Then he took my hands in his*

Shadow: Abby, after I lost Maria, I thought I'd never have the strength to smile again. But that all changed the day you came into my life. You are my reason to smile. You are my Sun, my Moon, and my Stars. And I want to be by your side for the rest of your life.

Abigail: Wait. Are you saying that . . .

*Shadow then smiled & got down on one knee in front of me. He then pulled out a small white box & opened it. Inside was a silver ring with a heart shaped diamond on it (look up "Abigail's Engagement ring" by "SwanGirl24" on "DeviantArt")*

Shadow: Abigail Catz. Will you marry me?

*I gasped & put my hands to my face as I cried happy tears*

Abigail: Yes . . . *I jumped into his arms* Yes! Yes! Yes!

*He put the ring on my finger & we kissed*

*Later, we went back to New Mobotropolis & gathered all our friends & family at Castle Acorn*

Sally: So, Abby, what's this important meeting about?

Abigail: Shadow and I have a special announcement.

Sonic: Abby's getting her own apartment?

Shadow:*glaring at him* No.

Cream: You're moving back to New Mobotropolis, Miss Abby?

Cheese: Choa-Chao?

Abigail: Sorry, Cream. But no.

Robert: You two finally broke up?

Laura: ROBERT!

Robert: What? I was just asking.

*Shadow & I rolled our eyes*

Shadow & Abigail: No.

All: What is it!?

Abigail:*holding up the hand with her engagement ring on it* Shadow and I are getting married!

*As soon as I said that, my Dad froze with shock*

Robert: Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma-Married. . .

*Everyone else went up to me & my new fiance*

Amy:*hugging Abigail* Oh Abby, how wonderful!

Sally: Congratulations!

Robert: Ma-Ma-Married . . .

Sonic:*to Shadow* Wow Shads. I was beginning to think I was gonna pop the question before you.

Shadow:*smirking* So, I guess that's another thing I beat you in.

Vector:*looking at the ring on Abigail's finger* How many paychecks did you save to buy that rock?

Shadow: Quite a few. I also had to do a few odd jobs.

Tails: What kind of odd jobs?

Shadow: You don't wanna know.

Robert: Ma-Ma-Ma-Married . . .

Abigail: Isn't this great? There's nothing like wedding to bring us all closer together.

Lawrence: Yep. We're just one big happy family.

THUD!

*We all turned & saw my Dad passed out on the floor*

Laura: Robert? *she went over to him* What is it? What's wrong?

*Robert started to wake up*

Robert: Ugh . . . My little girl . . .

*He tried to get up, but just fell to the floor again*

*Later, I was at my house with the girls, talking over plans for the wedding*

Amy: So, tell us, will it be a big wedding.

Abigail: Shadow and I already talked and we just want a simple wedding with all of our friends.

Sally: Does that mean you want to invite all the Freedom Fighters from around the World?

Abigail: Yep. Except the Sand Blasters, of course.

Sally: Of course. *she pulled out her handheld computer* Nicole, make a note of that.

*Nicole appeared as a mini hologram*

Nicole: Way ahead of you, Sally.

Abigail: I'm also inviting Winona, Kasa, and The Naukan Tribe.

Amy: Does that include Halona?

Abigail: Especially Halona.

Mina: Have you decided on your bridal party yet?

Abigail: As matter a fact, yes. I'm going to ask Toby to be the Ring Bearer. *I turned to Cream* And I want you to be my Flower Girl, Cream.

Cream: I would love too!

Abigail: Lacey, I want you to be my Maid of Honor.

*She smiled with sparkles in her eyes & hugged me*

Lacey: Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!

Abigail: And Sally, I want you, Bunnie, Nicole, & Amy to be my Bridesmaids.

Sally: I would be honored.

Bunnie: Of course, Abby-Girl.

*Amy hugged me*

Amy: Yes!

Abigail: I'm also going to ask Julie-Su, Saffron, Fiona, Nic, & Olivia. *I turned to Mina* Mina, I would love it if you & the Forget-Me-Nots could perform at the reception.

Mina: I would love too! And I'm sure the guys will definitely be on board!

Bunnie: Has Shadow decided on his Best Man?

Abigail: Not yet. Trying to decide if he wants to ask Omega or swallow his pride and ask Sonic.

*The girls & I all giggled. Just then, Shadow came into the room, looking nervous*

Shadow: Abby. Seems your Grandfather invited two very special guests to help us celebrate the engagement.

*I cringed*

Abigail: Really? Who?

*He took my hand & led me to the front door. The girls quickly followed us*

Shadow: New Mobitropolis and Knotehole.

*We both looked outside & saw a big crowd of Mobians cheering for us*

Crowd: Congratulations!

*My Grandpa came from behind, carrying trays in each hand. One had sandwiches & the other had coffee. Behind him came out Orbot & Cubot. One carrying a tray of cold beverages & the other was holding a tray of cookies & cupcakes*

Lawrence: Isn't it wonderful? Sorry it's sort of slap-dash. It took us by surprise you know. *me & Shadow both chuckled* Make way for the happy couple!

*The crowd looked at us with anticipation*

Shadow: Now this is a battlefield.

Abigail: So Captain. What's our strategy?

Shadow: Divide and conquer.

*We went into the crowd*

(Third-person POV)

*The next day, the news was spreading through Mobius like wildfire*

Newspaper Boy: Read all about it! Shadow the Hedgehog is getting married!

Female Mobian: Can you believe it?

Female Mobian #2: The bride is so lucky!

Male Mobian: Her parents must be overjoyed.

Female Mobian #3: I wish it were me.

*A black boot stepped on a newspaper that was on the sidewalk in a back-alley*

?:*off-screen* Well, well . . . *evil chuckle*
